bigugli Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 yes that is their job, however, they are allowed to distribute tickets and charges at their own discretion, otherwise people would never get away with a warning for a speeding ticket. A traffic ticket is not a criminal offence.
dave524 Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 If they didn't want to charge him, they shouldn't have had him blow, once he did, their hands would be pretty well tied .
SirCranksalot Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 It was a 'story' in the Sun----any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental!! . No sense trying determine right vs. wrong, good judgement vs. bad based on a Sun report.
adempsey Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Impaired after the accident == impaired before the accident. Probably covering their bases for whatever happens going forward.
FloatnFly Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 It was a 'story' in the Sun----any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental!! . No sense trying determine right vs. wrong, good judgement vs. bad based on a Sun report. Barrie Examiner http://www.thebarrieexaminer.com/2016/02/06/innisfil-man-charged-in-death-of-snowmobiler-after-machine-went-through-the-ice CBC: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/georgian-bay-ice-snowmobile-1.3437057 not just a story in the 'Sun' police know that after the first sled went through, the operator of the second sled got off to help and went through and died. the last guy remaining did the right thing, tried to help his friends. This is clearly an emergency situation, and I will expect all charges will dropped. did they test the other? or just the driver with a dead friend and 2 frozen ones on the back of a single sled?
John Bacon Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Impaired after the accident == impaired before the accident. True, but driving after the accident does not equal driving before the accident.
Steve Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 I bet the charges stick. Cops are really sticky when it comes to drinking and operating a motor vehicle.... I hope they drop them...but I doubt it.
Kawartha Kev Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 It appears the charges have been dropped http://www.torontosun.com/2016/02/26/hero-fishermans-impaired-driving-charge-dropped Kawartha Kev

manitoubass2 Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 A little shocked but if the evidence/intent panned out, great call!
