GRRRRRR! I just paged back to the very beginning of this to remind of how the foundation was done. Dave, I guess those were Pbucket 'cause they ain't there no more! I had plans to review the entire post but that profit mongering outfit has ruined it for me and everyone else! What remains is still a work of art and genius, but it ain't all there for full impact! What a dirty shame.

What R value do you guys typically insulate to up there?

Not sure but I have R40 in the floor so far.

Walls will be R24, vaulted ceiling R30 and R60 in the other section of the roof.

Should be nice and toasty. :)

Finished off the porch siding today.

Still one row to go on once the ceiling cedar is installed.

Another couple of days work and I've completed the siding under the deck.

Still needs to be trimmed but the bulk of the work is done.

Have also been working on building trim boards to go between the big windows and the upper smaller windows on the front wall.

The trim boards are 2 pieces of 2X8X12 foot long that have been pinned and glued together.

Took a lot of time gluing, planing and sanding to get it like this.

Will get the one side installed tomorrow and work on the trim over the left side angled window.

Hard at 'er the past couple of days. Weather turns late tomorrow with cold NE winds and rain for Saturday night and Sunday.

Temps will have highs in the 40's starting Sunday and it ain't gittin' any warmer.

It's turning out just as I had envisioned it when I designed the cabin a few years ago. :)

Dave I am surprised that the insulation is basically what code is here in Southern On. Heat loss will be high with all the gorgeous windows you have. I would have thought you would have gone with a closed cell spray where you are.

Dave, you magnificent bugger!

Looks amazing!

Well done sir.

Thanks for posting so we can follow your progress and vicariously taste a little of your paradise.

Kinda hard to get the equipment out to the site for spray foam.

I don't know that it's the same out there, but here in SW Ontario, we literally do not have to build beyond R24 (in the walls at least) as building beyond that is redundant, the energy savings won't increase as by the time the heat/cold makes it through, typically the sun has set or is coming out (depending on heating/cooling season)

That is such an amazing view, I truly don't have words to express how magnificent that is. I could literally stare out those windows for hours... That place of yours flat out looks great, and the fact that you have done it alone is that much more impressive!

Well a couple of rain days kept me working inside.

Reconfigured the washroom and made it bigger and roughed in for a window.

Finally got the Hardie Shingle work done above the front windows too.

Took me 3 days to do this small section. Was worth the effort me thinks.

Packed it in and headed home today.

Had enough of the crappy weather and not getting anything done.

Tried to do some work yesterday but the cold wind made it impossible.

Cleaned the site up and put stuff away for the winter.

Was cloudy and calm and in the low 30's when I left the dock so I went fisihin' fer an hour.

The fall bite is on!!!!!

Went 4 for 10 with 15 or 20 other smacks from pike in the hour.

No giants but one decent fish in the 36-38" range.

It only gets better between now and freeze up. :D

Will pull the dock next weekend hopefully the weather cooperates.
