The stars aligned yesterday and the parents had a rare night alone, Thought we'd enjoy a supper and each other's company, featuring locally grown produce and meats - Strip loins from the market, local asparagus and a craft beer or two during the preparation, and a glass of Ontario wine for the main course.

The smoked steelhead was an import.

We are keeping the eats simple right now. Silver bass from Sunday's adventure, home fries, fresh Erie asparagus, and young spinach greens from our Mennonite friends.

Anything more complicated would just interfere with the current round of canning.
