According to Environment Canada, this winter has brought the most expansive Great Lakes ice coverage in two decades. It should drastically reduce overwinter evaporation and preserve water levels for spring. Add in all the snow melt and I can see the potential for a lot of flooding in some areas.

30-40cm of ice across? why bother going across at the regular border crossing when you could drive across there! save a butt load of time haha if only...

Was driving on the Gardiner today and noticed that the channel between the city and the islands was pretty much frozen across. That is the first time I have seen that much ice.

ya its awesome i have been watching it on satellite from noaa and coastwatch for a few months now its great to see,and good for the lakes and the retention of water for sure !!!!

the information was provided at a salmon seminar in port credit a little while back....

 

maybe someone on pullers would have it.

 

i try not to listen too much about those studies...the lake is big enough, i don't want to have even more idea's as to where to fish.... :)

Be interesting to see the expance of the ice..

 

Is there anywhere on line where we can get a clear image of Lake O? I keep checking the modis imagery on NOAA but all I can see is white fluff..
