moemoe Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Was able to get to my familys cottage for a fall closeup, weather was miserable for the last 5 days, but managed one decent fish in the five days there during a break in the weather, Pulled this girl just off a rock point in 8 fow on a rainbow double cowgirl, measured her at 48 inches, first pic is of this year, cool part is I am 90% sure this is the same fish I caught last year not 2 feet away, on oct 17th 2011, which measured 47" 28lbs and was caught on black silver showgirl. the fin rips are 100% the same, although the spots are little less defined this year, first pic is of this year, second last year, check it out this year last year Edited October 15, 2012 by moemoe
Rich Nelson Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Awesome fish Moe. Catch n release at its best!
Handlebarz Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Very nice great way to end the season again.
Gregoire Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 That is cool. With the population being as small as it is in Georgian Bay I would guess that it is the same fish.
lew Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Beautiful fish, congrats on that one. And every chance it's the same fish as the year before, I once caught the same fish 3 times over a year and another time I caught one twice in a weekend.
moemoe Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 I had fished the spot quite a few times over the summer with nothing but pike, thought it was cool the fish returned to literally the exact spot a year latter
Joey Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Beautiful fish, very cool if it is the same one. Sure looks like it
glen Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Nice work. I hope you get her again next year.
spinnerbaitking Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Very Nice but I hope I catch it next year lol Tight Lines SBK

ehg Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Very nice musky! You can tell it is the same one just by looking at the plating and its face. This has happened to me as well. Did a post on a few different versions of board going back many yrs. ago. Here is that post. http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=223 No doubt to me you caught the same fish twice. Beauty fish and surroundings. Congrats!
irishfield Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Nice fish!! It's funny, I have never caught the same fish before but have seen fish that I have caught on the same spot. Then all of the tagged musky I have caught have moved up to 5 km from where they were first tagged! I guess some stay around the same spots and some move around their whole life. Andrew Tagged Muskie on GBay... interesting! Great fish Moemoe !!!
Terry Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) well they are not tagged with radio transmitters I monitor all tagged radio telemetry frequencies, to find muskie and can't find any on Gbay lol Edited October 15, 2012 by Terry
mike rousseau Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 LOOKS LIKE THE SAME FISH... THE DARK SPOT ON ITS BACK LOOKS THE THE ONLY SCUFF THAT HASNT CHANGED.... MY BROTHER DID A RECAPTURE A FEW YEARS BACK... 55 INCHER TWICE IN THE SAME SEASON... 2 MONTHS APART... ON THE SAME SPOT... ONCE EARLY SEASON (LATE JUNE- LATE LULY) THEN AGAIN IN EARLY FALL (SEPT-OCT)... HAD A PATTERN OF LAMPREY MARKS ON ITS HEAD THAT WERE UNMISTAKABLE....
kickingfrog Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 The Musky Hunter magazine had an article recently that mentioned the same muskie caught 7 years apart. November 1, 2004 the fish was 50 inches and on Sept 11, 2011 the fish was 54.5 inches. The fish was caught in Minnesota's Lake Vermilion.
