Muskieman
I was in Niagara Falls for a few days this week, and while visiting the falls , I noticed a school 50 or more fish (2x the size of a Seagull) in a small pool near the foot of the falls, I assume that they were a Salmon of somekind... Can someone educate me please? Thanks Randy Edited October 23, 2010 by Randy from Sturgeon

Muskieman
On foot Randy, I assure you there is no way to get there by boat. On foot ?... unreal!! You'd almost have to be a skilled 1/2 Billygoat mountaineer/angler to get down there. What prevents you from getting ther by boat? Randy
Muskieman
Oh! :stretcher: I just checked out the satellite images on Google Maps... I now see why you can't there by boat...you can't seen to go anywhere upstream from the Whirlpool. Randy
SRT8 smoker craft
The whirlpool keeps you from getting there by boat or actually the 10' wall of water at the top of the whirlpool rapid. Italo does a show right there every couple of years I think with permision you can go down the maid of the mist parking and access the river that way . Randy It's not even safe to go to the whirlpool by boat unless you're on one of the tourist jet boats. But up by the falls there is a set of stairs (somewhere) that'll take you down to the "Maid of the Mist" docks, from there I guess you Billy Goat it. bigfish1965
There is a road down to the Maid of the Mist...fished there many times..awesome spot. The road splits and goes down to the old hydro station there where you saw the fish, Randy. Since 9/11 you gotta be chummy with security to get down there. It is worth whatever bribe that gets you in, though.
Aaron Shirley
Some people have tried to get to that fishing spot by boat and jetskis over the years without much luck. Some even got creative and tried their luck in barrels
