  1. I like to pull off about 100ft and make 3 or 4 cuts, that way all his productive lures are gone and you'll catch all the fish!
  2. For what its worth I'd look at getting a used Lund, Crestliner or Princecraft, that had the HP maxed out. My impression of Legend was extremely poor when looking for a boat last year. ps go tiller.
  3. Most of the auto inflate ones I have seen require 4" of water to create enough pressure to trip the switch. Least thats what mine said on the package, forget the name.
  4. Congrats...bring a really good rainsuit, bugspray and 2X more booze than you think you'll need.
  5. I guess if you're having trouble backing up the trailer this is another route to go
  6. Great photos man, the pics of the bass are awesome. Looks like a good spring for sure.
  7. Google earth to find and hint of a trail, best bet is a topo map, try using both the federal govt map set or topo canada. some folks pointed out that the most direct route isn't where the portage lies, it will often meander to follow the path of least resistence.
  8. Here Kodiak Wildlife even on sale....
  9. I will echo the sentiments that being forced into something that seems obvious or should be a choice is frustrating and does little to resepect priorities amoung law makers. But honestly, aside from the huge cost associated with the process, is wearing a pfd while running (this is my interpertation) all that bad? I am guilty of not wearing one and have this year made an effort to change this. Personal choice but I don't want to be in the obits when it could be prevented easily. While trolling/fishing is another story though
  10. In a tent on some island on Lake of the Woods.
  11. Good luck going to a small town bar and trying to pick up women. Wear something you don't mind getting blood on. On a side note wasn't there a rubys somewhere around bancroft? I've been there a time or 2 but my internal compass was ajar at the time.
  12. I too found the MSR filter (mini works) to be a poor product. I switched to the katadyn filter (hiker pro) it has been great lots of water through it and the filter is still rocking. I use it a lot too. 1L per minute they advertise is accurate. Always bring tablets for backup, they weigh nothing and the pump might break.
  13. Right on! Cool trip, I all of the sudden dislike work very much.
  14. Those are a lodge classic, its hilarious to watch guests pogo in rough water, especially if they are smaller.
  15. I was told by a gent in the insurance business, that it was a very good idea to take photos of your rods/reels and tackle in case of a claim. Having documentation will ensure you are properly compensated. I was surprised at this but trust his opinion.
  16. Believe thats actually a sea lion
  17. That "hero shot" they are publishing is dispicable. NIMBY....welcome to a common occurence in a large portion of ON, here's hoping misguided political activists are shown the consequences of resource management in the absence of science. Imagine the funding cuts for CO's if the MNR had to start implementing Bear Wise in Southern Ontario....
  18. In my experience very few waterfront property owners have "water lots" from the MNR, this was an antiquated process that seems to have been changed. There is the possiblity of this guy owning a water lot. That said, I don't believe he can keep you from being on the water, I understood that the owner owned the bottom and as such had rights there not the navigable waterway. Either way, he's a goof for treating the situation as he did, perhaps a little decorum would go a long ways....I guess thats a good way to promote a business in the service sector
  19. A good bunch of fish for sure, great report! I was curious about the whiteys too, last spring was real good for them (and lakers) What was the water temp like?
  20. There was a test??? I thought you just gave $$ and got the card....
  21. I get a kick out of him. I clearly remember a bit of banter Bob and Harry had a while back "Ever see hockey gloves as short as they are right now?" "No, worms could bite your wrist if you were digging in the garden" I am one to vote that Pierre McGuire is never allowed near a World Juniors broadcast in any capacity again.
  22. Yup trolling, particularly right after ice out when the water temp is in the high 30's up to about 45F. 2-3mph in shallow sandy bays. This is the diver. Previously my go to bait at this time was the deep xrap. Im keying in on 10-20ft. The lakers really seem to prefer a smaller white or natural bait at this time. I also have success slowly trolling, wild eye swim shad and smaller kickin' minnows.
  23. I would recommend 12lb Berkley 100% or Suffix Fluro....both good products that have handled well for me. For me if I can get away with lighter line I'd try it, depending on the cover. In my feeble mind, when casting cranks you are not as worried about attaining depth than when trolling, making thin dia. braid less of an advantage (for diving deep) due to pulling hooks out of fish.
  24. the smaller smelt bait is right deadly on lake trout. The golden shiner is a killer KILLER walleye lure through the ice. Worth the bucks in my mind.
  25. I wish this was happening when I lived there. Chad got all my business when I lived there.. Customer service 2nd to none.
