Many lakes north of Barrie to try. Mactedesh, Dalrymple etc...were good to me long ago.
The slip bobber/ microtube setup Syn explained above, works the best.
Usually put the jig/tube 2-3 ft below bobber and fish shallow were weeds would grow later.
Thanks for the replies again!
Started doing this when my daughter was three as well.
The snakes like rubbly overgrown warm sunny areas this time of year.
Have found them 100m from City Hall in downtown Toronto in abandoned parking lots even.
Thanks for reply Darcy!
Seems a little different around here these days. A year ago did same type of post and had 19 replies and over 1,400 page views.

Had a good day anyways!
Went with my 7 yr. old daughter for our annual easter snake hunt.
Riding bikes around Toronto harbourfront was cool.
Found some snakes to add to the fun.
These little puny Dekay's or little brown snakes are tough to catch.
A diversion on a beautiful Easter weekend!
Can't wait till June for the muskies however.
Yawn, yawn, triple yawn
After all these years this still rears its ugly head.
Unfortunately, a seperate sub-forum for fishing reports could be the death of this unique website.
A few bad apples...
Skin thickener...
etc...

While we're on the topic what the heck happened to Snag?
Hope Grant's okay as well.
Was wondering about these two as well. Were both positive contributors to this community for many years.
No problem getting creative fishing reports and opinions from them in the past.
Yes, have been going there for 20 yrs.or so. Really a small window of opportunity since most of the bigguns are gone back to the big lake when the season reopens.
Congrats and many thanks for the post.
The spit at ice out... used to always do it in the past.
There is a ton of big pike there! Luckily with the ice; then season closing the pike are fairly protected.
Sounds like a great time you are lucky guy
Nice catches by you and your daughter
My daughter loves doing that as well but it was too late many times,so during the day, her idea was to scare and chase robins when we saw them pulling them from the ground and we would get a bucketful of worms.
Going to nearby parks always got her a nice yield.
Fun stuff!
It might be considered part of Lake Ontario.
Doesn't get too rough but is shallow and pretty weedy.
Have fished there over many years and caught mostly pike. Have caught unexpected fish like crappie, chinooks, bass and a walleye. Mostly there is pike but is an easy launch.
Sure was like spring around here last couple of weeks.
Have not seen a robin yet, but did see a Snowy Owl for first time in west Toronto near the lakeshore.
Bring on the softwater fishing
