  1. There is a book with simple depth maps and fishing tips for these lakes. It is called "Fishing Ontario:Kawarthas". Seems to have the best write up Fortescue Lake and mentions Salerno/White. As mentioned Big Cedar looks good but they say Coon Lake is only fair. All lakes are said to be small and not heavily fished with some muskies to be found and lots of smallmouth bass. Good luck with your decision.
  2. I agree with all you stated. Some people i've spoke to suggest that this Olympics has served to unite the country. We have shown the world that Canada is beautiful and the people living here are great. Wait till we win the mens hockey gold. Joannie Rochette's great performance under such stress and tragedy, truly exemplifies what it is to be Canadian.
  3. Great report, really like the video. The idea of fishing just of structure while fish are feeding on minnows suspended is brilliant.
  4. Nice ice fishing trip! That big laker must be 25-30 lbs Great video, thanks for posting it.
  5. Ya this is so obviously fake. The bear just gets up and strolls quickly around
  6. I thought you were referring to spots on the fish. Here are some river landscapes.., The fall can produce before the season closes...

    East Winds

No doubt that prolonged east winds had a negative effect on the fish feeding on the Kawarthas. After many, many years i have seen it very often. Hard to get rock bass to bite on those days.
  8. Here is a couple caught within a half hour drive from downtown Toronto, from different tribs. PB for a GTA trib pretty one from different trib C'mon spring!
  9. There is no question that Canadian healthcare isn't bad for the majority of citizens here. The medication for my chronic disability would be $2000/mnth or ($800/mnth on co-pay) in the US. In Canada this cost is covered fully under benefits. I needed MRI's, so they booked me the next day...etc. At least i am able to keep my life intact so i can go fishing In the states there wouldn't be these possibilities.
  10. That is a well written rant, seems like we are all being pimped in one way or another...hahaha
  11. That is an incredible ice fishing story...well deserved way to remember it
  12. Another excellent painting Bushart! You are quite prolific, thanks for sharing this work.
  13. Cigarette companies are kinda evil. Taking your money and knowingly, slowly killing you. Stopped buying them in May 2008 and know i will never smoke a cigarette again. It is easier once you do other things like drinking water or eating decent snacks etc... Keep it up Peter.
  14. Nice job on getting the post and pictures up. I remember your post on replacing your heater core in your car. That seemed like a lot of work as well. Good going
  15. Knowing of this decision by Obama forced me to word things the way i did. Closing access from the Mississippi to the Great Lakes really makes no economic sense. It cuts off a major shipping route to Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal etc... Hopefully they won't adapt...they are still in the same area they were in 5+ yrs. ago.
  16. Apparently the 1 dead Asian carp was found 40 miles downstream from Lake Michigan At least their is an awareness of this situation. Obama has been told of this, so when it makes economic sense these fish will be taken care of...
  17. Very nice pile of big walleye. Not really into ice fishing but hammering those big fish down in Quinte is the best. Have to go down the 401 and try it again soon. Thanks for pics
  18. The Zebra mussels actually cleared the water which made it better for pike, musky, and bass fishing. Sight feeders. The gobies are seen as a good bait to duplicate. Your right about ecosystems adapting. We have to wait and see. Hopefully the Great Lakes are too cold and vast for these Asian Carp to like.
  19. You must be so proud of your daughter! :thumbsup_anim:
  20. Thanks for all the replies, looks like i got pointed in the right direction through PM's and this post. Greatly appreciated!

    Highway Tunes

Fidel, you would probably like this one. Played this CD a lot when going fishing 15 years ago. Old school skillz...
  22. Thanks, this is the kind of thing i am looking for but live in Toronto. Hoping for some word on something closer.
  23. When i had a place around Buckhorn there was a person i trusted who tuned up my outboards. Now i am kinda stuck in Toronto but need an engine looked at. Hoping to find dependable service for a 9.9 Johnson. Bought the engines for a couple hundred dollars many years ago so don't want to spend hundreds of dollars for a tune up. Any suggestions or experiences will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
