  1. Wow. amazing photo of fall colours. Reminds me of a 'Group of Seven' painting.
  2. Nice video. Fall would be a good time to catch all those colours. Really there is only one area in park with muskies. That is Petawawa River From Lake Traverse towards Ottawa River. The muskies there aren't huge but are plentiful. Caught them while targeting bass and walleye. Here is report from summer. http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64097
  3. What a great trip that must be. Lac Seul with trapshooter as the guide for muskies. Apparently it is 3 degrees rain, snow and wind to add to the adventure.
  4. You are right Lew. Back many years ago there was a different helpful spirit here, Now... Useless, cool hero comment.
  5. That is a lot of money for someone to give back. A good deed for sure. Actually, not long ago went to ATM at bank at Bloor/Christie here in Toronto. Took out cash but for some reason forgot to take cash when dispensed. Went back to car and realized i forgot cash. On the way back fellow approached me to give my money. He was behind me in line for ATM. People are decent everywhere but there are WAY more chances for bad apples in city due to heavy population. If go just to Oshawa its like a ghost town.
  6. Again, those St. Lawrence muskies are awesome! Surprised you fish so little of Stony,Lovesick,Lower Buck have heard good things there. Was just curious as you don't post fish since you live in that area.
  7. Nice resident browns. Those Panther Martins are best on headwater trout even chubs like them
  8. Well done on the photos! Almost similar to angling but somehow even better. Always liked hitting Lake O trib headwaters for trout closer.
  9. Nice muskies there. Fishing the St. Lawrence there puts you on classic patterned musky and potential world record size. Yes, that one has weird colouring on half. Since you don't post pics last many years, was always curious if you caught any ski's over 48" since you live up around Stony and Lower Buckhorn?
  10. Wow, never have seen this hybrid before. Tiger muskies are cool but this brown trout X brook trout cross is really uncommon.
  11. Fished with Sinker at Pigeon as well. Have fished with many from this forum just by running into them at Toronto Islands. Mostly about 7-8 yrs. ago. Fished some with SNAG, FHR, Highdrifter, Patrick GG, Dude,Lucid, etc... A picture of Lucid about 7 years ago this was mid-March. Dude with nice pike late March about 9 yrs ago. Ran into Mikeh at Pickering outflow 6 yrs.ago in winter. He helped me with this musky from Pigeon. Not biggest but healthy looking musky. Even got out with BillM for Rocky Saugeen specks about 5 yrs.ago Never attended G2G or anything but still met plenty of OFNers. Every person i have met from forum were exceptional, friendly folk.
  12. Tons of information. This is the area i fished all my life. From having cottage on Pigeon Lake to fishing the eastern tribs. A huge read on history and future of the Kawarthas and Ganaraska, etc... to be bookmarked. Many thanks for providing this.
  13. Enjoyed reading this. As a child my father would take me fishing there. Caught my first smallmouth bass downstream and first brook trout upstream. That was 35 yrs. ago. Sounds like the Duffin's watershed is still mostly intact. Thank goodness the airport expansion has been put on hold. That would wreck this still great place.
  14. They did put "No Fishing" signs up but they were taken down and by-law was changed to encourage fishing there. Seems all the Toronto pike anglers have disappeared from this board. 6-8 yrs. ago there was a bunch like FHR, Highdrifter, Snag etc... the fish are still there. Late March is best time using deep diving X-Raps, Husky Jerk, etc... still worth try anytime.
  15. That looks like a productive trip. Strange that bucktails caught nothing but big rubber baits worked. Beautiful 'clear' Kawartha muskies.
  16. 4 50+ inch musky in a weekend. I'm convinced that Lake St. Clair area is the premiere musky fishery in the world.
  17. Judging by the pic in your avatar, i think it was deposited by the former cougar who lives in the van down by the river there.
  18. Rare Rainbow Darter from Duffins Creek.
  19. Could be a zillion different places. There was a channel between Bald Lakes and Pigeon that looked similar. Always peed me off when people buzzed through as it was decent fishing spot.
  20. What a beautiful fish. Looks a little different than what you see running the tribs around here. Having the primo flesh for eating makes it all complete.
  21. It is great to see them down that way. What a treat to see them and get some photos. Great stuff!
  22. Apparently they do the hunt without cameras then go back days later and recreate the chase highlights for a show. If they had camera crews following around then there would be no ability to hide. The show has many dubious aspects still though. Survivorman (Les Stroud) is the real deal. He really goes out for a week alone and fights the elements and eats bugs etc... to survive.
  23. Used Erie Dearies all the time in 80's wind drift jigging on Pigeon Lake in Kawarthas. When lifted, as wind pushed you along, the blade would spin. Of course you needed a nightcrawler/worm on there as well.
  24. The largest 5-fish tourney weights were both from 2010. Many of the largest fish measured were from tourneys in last decade and probably accurate. A lot of Molson Big Fish contest entries are uncontrolled and slightly suspect. Those fish were mostly caught in summer but Molson Big Fish contest entries didn't specifically ask for date so they just put starting date of year(Jan 1st). Thus the Jan. 1st pattern. Otherwise they would be caught through ice out of season. lol A 7.5 lb fish is a big one. St. Lawrence around Lake St Francis and Lake Simcoe are premier smallmouth spots in world.
  25. Downloaded this and read about 3/4 so far. What an incredible amount of information. Smallmouth are a favourite to catch as they jump and fight good. A few things stood out. -seems round gobies are first choice when different prey are available. -crayfish are near last choice, but compromise large part of diet due to easy opportunities. -Smallies prefer clear waters thus the rocks and subsequent crayfish. -Largest 5 fish weight from tourney came from Lake Simcoe -2nd largest 5 fish tourney weight came from Lake St. Francis (St. Lawrence R.) Still much to read, really enjoying this. If something similar came out on walleye that'd be good.
