  1. I like the whistling emoticon....LOL No worries Bernie, you know I'm there for more than just the fishing. And yes there is September. Ya, I suppose it's more than a me thing....LOL
  2. I knew you were holding out on me Bernie. Glad to see you had a good day out with your brother and dad, hope you marked the spot on the GPS.
  3. Damn, I knew you were young but those pictures have me suddenly feeling very old....LOL Good stuff Chris.
  4. Thanks Simon. It's not the first time you've extended the open door invitation and I appreciate it. I've have big plans to spend a vast amount of time up there as soon as the youngest gets off to University, two more years yet. But when he does you can be sure I'll find my way to your front door and if there's no fish on hand we'll definitely go get 'em! Hell we'll go get 'em regardless.
  5. You'll have to give me about 20 hours notice Simon in order for me to make the dinner hour.
  6. Past experiences would tend to have me agree with the above.
  7. No nothing like that Brian. A big pasta seafood salad for dinner tomorrow at John and Barb`s.
  8. A little background music while I was working in the kitchen..... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/d8sjDnMnTfI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mq0HpoKXaFk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  9. It'll be nice to have you back local Clive. Hope all is well and also hope that you'll provide us with some local reports again, not to mention the possibility of a G2G.
  10. I don't protect my rods as well as I should, but I know a guy who'll fix them for me, no charge.
  11. Nice to have you here Luke. MS is an insidious disease that robbed my youngest brother of a normal life in his early 30's though he is a fighter and actually is out and about more than I. I give him 2 big thumbs up for his determination, a published poet, a certified sailor and even some hang gliding (passenger) to his credit, he's awesome! My best wishes to you and your parents, a tough row to hoe at any time in life. Oh and thanks for the PM's yesterday, nice chatting with you and I look forward to meeting you.
  12. I think you did a pretty good job in paint Trouty. I've often used both methods you've illustrated when running gang trolls on Lake Kipawa, successfully too. It's nice not having to fight the gang troll.
  13. I've used braid in my offshore releases, but I have to loop and twist a few inches of line, then insert at the back edge of the release pads, so far no issues.
  14. Awesome Buddy!
  15. Well I finally finished the rod donation yesterday, snapped a picture of it in the drying lathe (never mind the messy work bench). It's a Frontier 6' one piece Blank donated by jccustomtackle. Rated for line 1 to 4 Lure weights 1/32 to 1/8 Custom cork handle Fuji graphite reel seat Fuji concept Alconite guides The rod all finished weighs a whopping 74 grams (2.6 oz). Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  16. It looks like you were stuck in the back of the boat Brian, silly you. Good stuff Terry and way to go keeping Brian at the back of the boat.
  17. I'm a little this and a little this. But well done and thank you.
  18. As an absolute dyed in the wool trout man and Brookie manic all I can say is, "you're killing me."
  19. I suppose this is humour but truth is I saw him Wednesday, in person and spoke on the phone with him a few hours ago. Does that count for anything?
  20. By that logic anyone taking a picture of a slot sized walleye or slot sized musky, or any musky while fishing with a conservation license is breaking the law since they're not legally able to possess the fish.
  21. I've stayed at the North Camp a few times and yes, night is when they bite and some real brutes too! As mentioned not far from the docks and our most productive lure was a good ole Mepps 3.
  22. Would it by chance be a boiled dinner Brian. If they're not careful they may end up in the smoker, literally for our fall trip.
  23. It gets worse, last night I had five raccoons in the yard.
  24. I always think in terms of balance Garry and if reels go lighter then rods need to go lighter. At some point one or the other will fail! I build (as you well know) many rods and the trend these days for lighter and lighter float reels (centerpin for you young'ns) makes it hard to keep these long rods in balance. That fact has had many these days choosing to go with longer rear grips and shorter fore grips (think spinning rod) to offset the forward weight and that generally means your losing as much of a foot or more of your long rod behind your hand. What's the point? Keep the rod length up front and think in terms of balance, you'll get more out of your rod, performance wise.
