Thanks again everyone, most kind. I don't know much about the blank other than CTS' are available through John Collina at jccustomtackle.com in Caledonia. He designed the CTS line of Float Rod blanks for local steelheaders and they are getting great reviews from those using them. Well prices can vary depending on components used but would likely run about $700.00.

Yep, find a local carpet retailer and you'll likely find a heavy duty tube at no cost. Cut to length and cap, I've found that the plastic lids from peanut butter jars will often fit beautifully.

I'm truly saddened by this news. While I never met Shane we had talked via the net on a number of occasions. I had hoped to share my boat with him one day on Simcoe but sadly that opportunity has now passed. My sincerest condolences to Shane's family and his many friends.
