  1. How someone can make a statement like that, seemingly with pride, is beyond me!! Most people would be too embarrassed to say something like that!!t. That's what makes you Leaf fans, eh?? Well, I guess that's one thing it makes you!!
  2. When did you have your sense of humor extracted? Was it painful? Or were you born like that?
  3. We should get some sort of pool/bet going here. For Simcoe maybe??,
  4. I'd second Tofino or maybe Ucluelet, but if you want to live in a town or city think about Port Alberni or 1 of the many towns along the E coast of V. Is.
  5. Glad to see that you seem to have this one solved, Mike. My general advice would be to remember you are a fisherman---when she fights hard give her lots of line then try to reel her back in gently. If it looks like she's pulling so hard you might loose her, give her even more line. Remember once a parent, always a parent i.e she will never 'spool you'!!
  6. I know why that suspicious Toronto tunnel was built! It was dug by Maple Leaf players who didn't get traded by yesterday's deadline!
  7. I read some of the Youtube comments. It's amazing(well, sad, actually that violation of food regs will bring on all sorts of ignorant racist comments.
  8. That was totally tongue in cheek. I guess I should have made that more obvious!!
  9. We were hunkered down in a pop up on Lake Joe. I went outside and drilled a second hole but didn't get back to it with my rod for a few minutes. By then I couldn't find the hole! According to Env Can there were gusts to about 40 kph.
  10. I have a friend who is part native. I'll ask him if he took it. Or maybe he knows who did!!
  11. He was a good guy. I bet he got beamed up, not down!!
  12. I was going to offer a mundane tale about a hook in my hand that req'd a trip to the hosp but it would be so pale in comparison to the Borgerman's stories that----naah, never mind!
  13. From radio reports it seems that this Feb will be the coldest in about 40 years as recorded at Pearson.
  14. Yes, I agree---sometime before June, or July for sure!!!
  15. You can clip the sponge ones on too but you need a bead as well as a bobber stop. I'll probably make up a couple of wooden ones when I get the time, but in the meantime the sponge ones seem OK. What do folks use for stops? I have just used those stringy thingies sold in the stores but 1 of my buddies ties a piece of rubber band tightly around the line.
  16. Nothing good?? Lots of free parking!!!
  17. Good decision I'd say. I think you were wise to stay away from those GV ones.
  18. Interesting! So is that just a snap swivel(minus the swivel?) glued to the end? I guess you could just bend a piece of fine wire into a U and shrink tube it on.
  19. My buddy Allan and I did fairly well on Joe last year----6-8 each on 2 separate occasions---but just 2 last week. I have caught some on Williams and Allan tried worms last year as well as Gulp minnows. Both worked. Last Tue the slush was awful. Just the tracks were frozen, the rest was water. Is it still water or has it frozen into ice by now?.
  20. I bought some of these at CT and am trying them ohttp://www.joessportinggoods.com/product/rod-n-bobbs-mr.-ice-bobbers-196853-1.htm The advantage, as I see it, is that the attachment pt is below the water line and so less likely to ice up.
  21. That's the part that really disturbs me. Phoning me or others who are capable of seeing thru their scam is an annoyance, but preying on the 'weak'(Folks without enough of their wits about them) is disgusting, despicable and a whone list of words that cannot be posted here!!!
  22. Plastic ratchet straps!! Don't waste your money.
  23. I bought a pair of Tubbs not long ago. I really like their bindings. Not cheap but better in the long run than repeatedly buying cheap ones---at least I hope and assume. http://www.sojournoutdoors.com/tubbs-tundra/ The bindings on my GVs was probably most convenient---a ratchet strap that you just pull on to tighten. That type of strap seems to be quite common. One major drawback though(and a deal killer for me) is that the strap has plastic teeth that wear out. They did so quite quickly on mine.
  24. Get a bit further North into shield country, go along 169 or maybe 118 in Muskoka.
  25. What, to see the Leafs lose in living color??
