And the snow!! So bad we often couldn't see the puck in the hockey game!!
"Yup - we had to get off the chair to change channels also. Then 1 day my father installed a wired channel changer called "Butler". You guys remember those boxes."
I remember those!! Kids used to trip on the wires!
Boy, things were tough!! It's a wonder we grew up at all!!
(How the heck do you use that multiquote thing anyway??)
True conversation between my 2 bros a few years back
"Have you seen Vern lately? I lent him $20 about 6 mo ago and heaven't seen him since"
"No. That was a good bargain, though. I wish I could do that "!
Remember back in the old days when we had to walk all the way across the living room and back again just to change the channel?? Aaah, life was tough back then, eh??
My missus packed my bags, and as I walked out the front door, she screamed, "I wish you a slow and painful death, you bugger!" "Oh," I replied, "so now you want me to stay!"
Brilliant detective work by the Leaf mgmt. Decades of losing and boring hockey and thru some process of deduction they conclude that music is the problem!! We shoulh get that gang working on big probs like world hunger!!!
If this is a hockey thread how come you are talking about the Leafs?? Those also rans---well, maybe they just walked rather than ran----have their own thread!!
Therein lies the difference!! The Leafs have the opposite. It was a grossly dysfunctional org for decades during the Ballard years etc and I'm not sure how much of an improvement has been made since. Few, if any, of the 'oldtimers' who won the cup could manage a good thing to say about the org. Bower, Dick Duff & others have been quoted in the paper being critical of the Leaf org. Keon would not attend the 'reunion' or whatever you call it a few years back. Such a poor org cannot bring out the best in players. That's why you see so many play better before and after they play for the Leafs.
For anyone who needs more sampling of DC's rants, you can check in with Grey Bruce Outdoors where he arguse back and forth on occasion, incl with his son Josh,
We have a good oral tradition in our family. I have heard tales from the elders of that happening some time long ago in the past. Memory is a bit hazy for some of them!
There must be only a certain number of retail jobs in Canada that is sustainable in the long run. They could be with Target, Sears or other retailers. Surely somone will pick up any slack left by Target, but evidently there was not enough 'slack' in the first place to employ the number of people that Target hired.
