Maybe the liberals are planning to do away with the MNR and put our native bands in charge of all MNR functions in the not to distant future. At least there would be COs in the field to enforce the laws.
Perhaps you should take the engine off and carry it in the boat or in your trunk. Is it possible to tie the tilted engine to a transom support for now ?
There are some, like me, that couldn't tread lightly enough on that stuff and would disappear in short order. I'm glad we have better fishing opportunities here.
There is nothing wrong with saying " I'm having a hard time understanding what you're saying can I speak to someone else". I do this with the calls for air duct cleaning all the time.LOL
I've read that there are a lot of carp around the piers , but I cannot personally verify that. I can say that further up away from the piers that the current is tremendous when the water is flowing and that bottom bouncing leads to many snags.
My kids also started with ice fishing rods and spin casting reels. I set my grandson up with an ice fishing rod and under spin casting reel .They work great for young kids. If young ones can't handle their tackle, then they tire of fishing quickly.
I've used them and I see no real advantage to them over a canoe. Storage wise you can suspend the canoe fron the roof of your garage, assuming that you have one. They are no more stable than a canoe and you still need a roof rack to carry them.
Many rods are pulled off piers, either by fish or by motor boats snagging lines as they pass. I have never seen one recovered by the angler that lost it. Rods lost from a moving boat wouldn't float long and once sunk would be almost impossible to retrieve.
