I believe the inner harbour license is for powered craft. Canoes will/should be fine. Just stay out of the markers near the island airport if canoeing. Also take note of the eight paragraph in this Globe story and first specie mentioned. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/of-wetlands-and-waterfronts/article12661056/#dashboard/follows/

Crazy as it sounds, this could be part of a master plan they have. Drive costs up so much, fewer and fewer boaters use the launch = other development projects ?

Karma... it is a three way street correct?

got my fingers crossed for Jen that this is just another detour to go around. It may slow her down but won't stop her. good luck Wayne. -

There you go, first impressions make or break deals. Sounds like the makings of a good relationship with the dealership ! Enjoy the new ride and don't forget we love photos -

home furnace and central air question, NF
woodenboater replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
If you can afford it I'd suggest upgrading your furnace to a hi efficiency unit and instead of central air, I'd go ductless. Makes sense if you think about it, cold air is denser so instead of pushing it up 2 or 3 floors, let it drop down. or get a portable a/c unit for the time being as these seem to be really affordable now. -
looking n/e and all we can see in the distance is clouds lighting up big time. someone is getting hammered hard. hope everyone is ok

NF - Our House Build & Touching Base
woodenboater replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Definitely keep 'em coming ! and you say 'only' 56 x 120, that would be a very nice sized lot in Toronto (I'm 25). And also loving the two door garage. Can't wait to see the trusses go up ! -
Thanks for the report even if there wasn't photographic proof I do see a waterproof camera in your future lol ! Hope you can salvage the images.

There was a used Honda 1000w on Kijiji recently so maybe try there. That's where I found mine after some searching and fruitless emails that were never replied to. and yeah, I'd imagine the cheaper ones will be quite the racket. Lots of info on this thread when I began my search, good luck on your trip ! http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1

I'd be inclined to get a small generator (not sure if 1000w will do) vs the solar panels. Don't forget to take into account cloudy days at which point you're super pooched. Depending on where you're camping (private campground or crown etc), you can take the genny into the back 40 and let it run there. My new to me Honda 2000i is pretty quiet in eco mode from about 25' or so away. Still noticeable but take it further and you'd be golden Will these be complete strangers or friends ?

was fishing near the cut on the west ram last year and I swear, every deer fly musta been all over me. the feet were hammered, esp the second toe. unless it's absolutely searing, I'll always wear long sleeves, pants and socks now.
-
yup. eye lids, any knuckle and the feet. esp if it's deer flies targeting you

I love your Gyotaku Joey ! If you sell these prints anywhere, let me know, would love to buy one (or two) for my cabin (and home). -
not Cabelas but BPS related. I heard that BPS wanted to open a store in Buffalo but there was serious opposition to it so they said adios. Was also something about being waterfront so they could have boats on the water etc.. Don't know the full story but sounds like a shortsighted move if true.

call cabelas and see if they might have a copy of the receipt. worth a try and good luck

These guys are nuts! Some of U will know this spot>
woodenboater replied to Musky or Specks's topic in General Discussion
Paddlers running extreme gnar will almost always be in high volume boats vs slicey playboats. The volume keeps the nose from diving and possibly pinning. The wood at the end is actually the scary part as a pin there would be VERY problematic. The music was actually pretty mellow for a kayak video -
Looks like the tracks cross the very bottom part of the lake according to Google maps. From there, looks like a nice boat ride.

The great stove debate - Naptha or Propane
woodenboater replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
I've got both types and right now naptha is getting more use. The propane stove sees most use while car camping and it runs off either a 10 or 20 lb tank. The 1 lb cans are convenient but such a waste. As mentioned, naptha burns hotter compared to most propane stoves. There are a couple of propane ones at BPS that claim some serious burners but they cost a few $$. Currently have about 10 Coleman two burners, of various ages, in the garage. I'm a sucker for garage sales and Kijiji and plan to restore what I can otherwise if you want a one for parts or to restore, let me know -

lure question and French River report
woodenboater replied to bigcreekdad's topic in General Discussion
Never been on the Upper but I heard it's just as bad on props. Think I saw a map somewhere and it looked damn ugly re:rocks. Hope I'm wrong -
Hope no one gets caught in the traffic mess as they clean up this derailment. Doubly hope that there's nothing toxic in the rail cars as the river is a source of drinking water for many. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/freight-train-derails-near-sudbury-ont-after-bridge-collapse/article12302066/#dashboard/follows/
