Summer time boating safety!!! I almost died yesterday.
woodenboater replied to aznphil's topic in General Discussion
Glad everyone is ok, all things considered. Dude should be on the hook, at minimum, for your phone, gear and ALL related medical expenses etc.. It's his attitude that really grinds my gears and am also surprised he wasn't hammered harder. -
400 hwy service centre in Barrie re-opening Aug 6th
woodenboater replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
Don't get me going about the service at the new OnRoute on the 400. Wife had crappy service at the Teriyaki takeout (staff seemed to be serving friends and co-workers ahead of customers) and my burger was as Wayne described. Too bad Wendys is gone I think the lure of $$ from a captive crowd have clouded their goals of servicing travellers. -
6lbs 4 oz. Sorry, this is a non fishing thread.

Congratulations great gramps and a Leo to boot -
yeah, Canal *should* be on the very edge at right but I can't see it
-
yeah, co-pilot would probably wonder why you're in his/her seat lol
-
Would be super cool if he flew over Lakair and the West Arm ! You should try and snag a ride on the next flight Joey

nope, GB is in the background beyond Simcoe.

Good to hear everything worked out well. Guess we'll all be asking for Robert from now on

go back with a fly rod and strip a big fat wooly bugger past it

yup, cutting down any tree, legally (diameter, height etc..), is a pita. Wanted to drop a Norway Maple (talk about invasive species) and an arborist did a detailed report yet the city wanted photos of everything etc.. I LOVE trees as much as the next hugger but it's gotten too bureaucratic. Neighbours have one huge monster (that's been needing maintenance) between their homes and it scares the beejeezus out of me. They don't want to pay to take it down but I'm positive that if it topples over, we're talking major house damage (foundation, walls etc..) back to Mike...I do hope the neighbour does clean up his mess and speaks to you before taking saw to tree again.

If you were in Toronto, this story and the legal ruling would make one jittery. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/one-tree-two-neighbours-and-a-changed-legal-landscape/article12698935/ but the neighbour should have spoken to you first, if he was a good neighbour....

wow, hope the boat is ok but I guess it could have been worse. time to get the chainsaw out and process some firewood ?
-
hope everyone makes it through without any damage to their homes. also hope toronto doesn't get hammered too bad either. sitting in a starbucks and I can see the clouds just smoking across the skies (well much quicker than the last dump).

Man he must have been super eager to get a new boat lol. Lucky dude, hopefully they'll have one in stock they can make fancy so he can slime it this summer.

+2 on snap on cover. If it's not a full console, I'd also be looking at a bimini for those brutally hot sunny days but that's probably not a throw in and would cost. Maybe see if he can get a price break ?
-
Another stellar report, really puts me there ! I can feel the rolling of the waves of the big lake and hear the drag on the reels. When you write a book, I'm going to the launch to get an autographed copy !

One would think thin goretex gloves would be the ticket but maybe look into this hand cream to see if it will do. Lee Valley sells it but I would think you could find it other places as well. http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=10256&cat=2,42407,33246 the manufacturer's webpage with all the info you'll need (includes MSDS etc) http://www.glovesinabottle.ca/index.php

Dude should have considered this dilemna before signing the papers for the property. What is 'regular' ? Every weekend ? Round trip for a boat and trailer on the Big Canoe will be around $200 plus $ for however many people are making the trip. I'd be hitting the road if it were me so you're not tied to the ferry schedule and the boring drive down from Tobermory. 'Course '69 can be a hassle as well. Drive > Ferry > Boating, in this case

ahh, now that's a nice looking Sunday breakfast you got there. Great seeing the big smiles on the kid's faces there while fishing ! Hope your August long weekend trip is as fun as this one.

Better late than never. Canada day report.

Is that spider actually kinda big or is this the 'hold the fish out so it looks huge' trick -

hmm, I see nothing but spiders... -
If you have a good stand of sugar maples, then you know what you'll be doing next March/April

radar shows the worst is over for now. Hope they get all the riders off the GO train safely.

yup. If they're not afraid of some manual labour, then that would bode well imo. Sweat equity on their part would impress me. If you have any cleared land, is there any room to let some animals graze there for a fee or barter ? Regardless, it sounds like you've given this lots of thought and have covered all the bases. Have fun chopping firewood
