Hide'n Out in Haliburton, Butt Muncher report
woodenboater replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
great photos and who doesn't LOVE Sig Olson's books ? -
thanks Cliff, I knew you'd have lots of great info. Too bad some of the big names are lacking their past quality, would also have looked at Husqvarna as I use their chainsaws. But very good to know Yard Machine or Yardworks are not to be dismissed !

quick question for the masses. Looking to get a thrower and wondering if there's a major advantage to the 3 stage over the 2 stage throwers ? Also anyone have experience with Yard Machine or Yard Man ? If I had spare coin, would get a Honda, Toro or Ariens Looking to spend no more than $1000 for use at the cabin so will not see too much use but it will have to giv'r when I do use it. thanks

What is required is a major cultural shift vis a vis guns and from where I sit, I don't see this happening in my lifetime. nor my niece's and nephew's either. It's something that's passed on from generation to generation and that link will be near impossible to break unfortunately. A western society is on the precipice of a slide into the unknown and must act before momentum prevents such.

there is no way this is going to end well for Russia. They couldn't do jack in Afghanistan and won't be able to do jack in Syria as well. Imo, they're inviting more dissent/retribution from the Muslims in Russia (Chechens etc). but perhaps this is what Putin wants to sow so he can crack down = he's tough leader/ take more action against them.

Am I asking too much here? Warranty issue NF

I find corporate hive minds respond to Tweets more than FB. You can hashtag the hell out of it and that shows up in feeds, FB doesn't have the same presence in that respect imo. ymmv -
Tried finding out how SH tweaked the Charter but no luck. Also it was SH gov't that decided to close the veteran offices so for them to lay it all on the Libs is a stretch. and the CPC voted for the Charter so they can't whine about it now.

haha, thread title had me fooled, was about to say yeah Imma gonna do some side ribs this weekend lol. yeah, VW really, really screwed themselves over because of a few extra kms or hps. a class action will devastate them and from what I understand, veedub would probably lose. worst part for me is the damage they've done to diesel. this will set back diesel in NA for some years to come. greedy my mom hates me. -

swmbo and I each have d cell Maglites by our bedside for power outages and any other possible eventualities. Held by the bulb end, these have serious swinging power and are short enough to not need much room or momentum and can be one handed unlike a Louisville. Fortunately, they're on the dusty side and I hope to keep it that way. Otherwise I keep thinking about using a bright flash type of thing to disorient and momentarily blind someone. -
a little prayer from anyone is appreciated

fingers crossed and hope it all works out well and it's just a minor speed bump. good luck and best wishes -
Looks super stable and would grab lots of stares for sure.

People seem to be forgetting that if we do allow more refugees, then Canadians will be heading overseas to interview and process the 'refugees' at the camps etc. so it's not like they're going to flood Pearson all of a sudden. There will be checks and honestly, a Syrian looks nothing like a Sri Lankan who looks nothing like a Pakistani etc..they will be easy to screen out.
-
Exactly and I hope this country never stops helping those who really do deserve our help.
-
From my experience and from others who've dealt with Syrians, what the Syrians receive will probably be eclipsed by what they give back, in time. I'm guessing there will be quite a number of professionals amongst the refugees and they will most likely not sponge off the system. Their pride won't allow them that, same with Iranians. Their gratitude will drive them to repay our kindness. ymmv

they should have left the evidence behind and then parked nearby with a video camera the next day. wonder if they brought the second cage as well ? would be utter stupidity considering someone found the first one. -
Reckless Personal Watercraft Operators

what's the legality of putting out swim platforms/rafts ? if you have nav or warning lights on them, is that going to be fine with DOT or Nav Canada ? enough of those out there could slow them down -
yup. black ops to put fear and paranoia in their hearts and minds.

Imo, IS will be very near impossible to defeat because it's not modelled on traditional armies/warfare (iow, rats and roaches will never be eradicated). there's also no snakehead to lop off. That they can blend in is a guarantee but still no reason to abandon refugees from Syria. Indeed, most Syrian refugees aren't the result of IS but the long and nasty civil war brought on by Assad. IS jumped into the fray when the West failed to support the FSA. but it's more complicated than that unfortunately... We need a new paradigm to fight groups like IS and Al Qaeda (who now look tame by comparison).

Some agents deliberately list below market value to create feeding frenzy which, if the plan works, is to get buyers overbidding in an effort to come out on top. they go to an open house and see nothing but a house full of potential buyers and they either fold or go all in and then some. usually a big deposit wins the day. happened to one house I was looking at. way underpriced according to my agent and when I saw who else was looking, I knew I was not going to win.

gopro on your boat and record the crap out of them. then blast it out to various levels of gov't and their associated ministries -
what Dutch said. DO NOT sign any agreement with an agent unless you are super comfortable and trust them otherwise you are stuck afaik. I'd take the time, if you have that, to look for a good agent and let them navigate the real estate minefield. But that's me, I have better things to do than babysit tire kickers. good luck in the next chapter

chocks for the front tires would be the minimum for me. and solid anchor points for the tie downs. I wouldn't trust PT for tying down, has to be the frame.
