I'm sure many of us probably would have taken the stupid road and done that although the best revenge is sending all our business and anyone else's to the competitor.

replacing water tank - orangeville area [nf]
woodenboater replied to Raf's topic in General Discussion
my latest tank has a standing light but can also be lit manually I believe. main thing is it holds water so if you're judicious with usage, good for a few showers. gas stove heats water as well if needed. last blackout we had (christmas blackout), went a week without power but hot showers by candlelight were great while not the most efficient in terms of gas use, no way am I going with on demand unless I have a Generac backup and you don't see many of those in the big cities. -
Outdoors card and finishing license expiry ?

have a gas grill and two Weber kettles. gas gets the 'come home from work and char some steaks' duty. the kettle sees weekend duty or when I want to do some low and slow. prefer the kettle overall for less maintenance and better overall flavour (to me at least)

jayzus how did I miss this thread ? regardless, sounds like you're on the track to recovery and 96% is something I can live with (knock on wood) ! too bad you didn't stay in Trawna between all those trips to Sunnybrook. lots of good restaurants not far from there. If you're down again for follow ups, maybe OFC can take over this place http://localleaside.com lol ! chin up, still lots of soft water season left

Outdoors card and finishing license expiry ?
woodenboater replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
just below "expires dec 31" is 14. would be nice to add '20' in front of that. but maybe it's their plan to catch people with unknowingly expired cards lol -
Outdoors card and finishing license expiry ?
woodenboater replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
damn, gotta fork over some more dough...grrr. if it is, printed, it's not clear but now that I know the last two numbers = expiry year I shld remember that. hopefully thanks ! -
Hey All, searched the forum and didn't find anything so here I is. Trying to determine when my outdoors card and 3 year fishing license expire. Is there a numbering convention on the card that signifies this ? The last numbers on my card are 14 so can I presume this is the year it expired ? I lost track of when I got it and the MNR page wasn't much help either. I just want to be legal tia edit-that would be FISHING, not finishing...dumb spell check. can a mod correct this mistake cuz I can't haha thx

Another throw rope tip from whitewater paddling. Throw ropes/bags are kept bungeed to the front or rear decks and in some cases, depending on what we're running, one end is 'binered to a grab loop or thwart. If one somehow ends up out of the boat, grab the loose end of the rope and while it pays out, make for shore or a safe place to re-enter the boat. This would work with fishing boats as well (obviously not wise if attached to stern and motor is running but then that's why we wear kill cords).
-
a different perspective on the rope. I paddle whitewater and the rope is NOT for me but for anyone else who ends up going downstream in current, out of their boat. Usually a 50' or 75' rope and waist bag with floating rope and carabiner is on my boat. The people I paddle with have everything needed for most rescue scenarios and most also have wilderness first aid training. the whistle. way louder than anyone yelling at the top of their lungs so it's a great attention getter if you need help. while the cheap orange bucket will meet legal requirements, I'd go above and beyond those dinky pieces of gear and upgrade to better rope and bailer.

NF-Cost to fill up home propane tank
woodenboater replied to LostAnotherOne's topic in General Discussion
If/when I move out to the boonies, I plan to heat and cook with wood as much as I can and then use propane/ electricity for the warm months. Gives me an excuse to buy a Heartland or Elmira cookstove. and also would look into geothermal. electricity would be to keep things above freezing when away. -
I dunno, I was following their tracks and while many went far west, I don't recall any hitting the lake proper. Many seemed to hit the Canadian side of the Larry and I would guess they were looking for islands and looking for bass to jump into the current as bait presented itself then swing back into the lee etc etc.. Bass Trakk doesn't have the map up anymore which is too bad

sending my deepest condolences to the O'Shea family for their loss. No words to add to what everyone has stated so eloquently. What I'll remember are the videos of Jen during her recovery and the trick she played with her swivel hip and the shock of everyone seeing that. Priceless memory of her smiling. wb -
stick piece of iron beside it ands see if it's sticks. if object is magnetic, possibly meteorite. maybe take it to the Royal Ontario Museum ? They have a ton of meteorites there, some are gigantic. I could barely lift one of the pieces they had and it wasn't very large. but I doubt it. meteorites don't tend to be hollow. could be slag but how it got to your lawn is beyond me

hey Gerritt, there are adapters that will allow you to connect an hdmi cabe to your iPhone (presuming 6).

Depending on when you plan to buy, definitely hit up the rv shows. Lots in the spring (Toronto Congress Centre has a huge one in the spring I believe). You WILL go nuts looking at all the coaches out there, so much choice and variety. At one show there was a nice Benz badged one that I would have bought if I was retired and had the money (not that much really as it wasn't huge). We go just to drool lol
-
lol, I'd probably do the same then laugh my head off. of course, their revenge would most likely be severe

^. if you have apps, easy to get them onto to the 6 (which I have and love, coming from a 4s) if you can afford it, max out the storage for photos/vids, music etc..

wow, speechless and so sad to hear about the latest developments I fully expected her (and still harbour faint hope since she's one tough mudder) to bust down the doors and surprise everyone. take care to you and your family wb
