This place has lots of great gear and they deliver if you order over a certain amount. Lots of traditional centric equipment so if you;re into Filson and wall tents, you'd love this place. I plan to get a couple of sheaths https://www.canadianoutdoorequipment.com/_search.php?page=1&q=axe+sheath this is what I currently have on my Garant. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/kuny-39-s-sheath-for-3-1-2-to-4-lbs-axe-0575167p.html#.VZM8UL6vHjI

Never use steel wire brushes to clean BBQ grates

Never use steel wire brushes to clean BBQ grates
woodenboater replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
while the grill is still hot, I use Weber wire brush to clean off the easy bits then run it real hot to burn off the crud till bbq is smoking, then turn off. I always oil the grill before use so a brush or paper towels will pick up any left over stuff. but this story has made the rounds before but I guess CHCH is priming for summer time. can't blame them as it's basically PSA. -

so the bite on the water was slow but the 'bite' on land looked consistent and no one got skunked either )) -

I'm an agnostic kind of guy but this phrase should stamp out any hubris that we may feel protects us from changes of fortune "There but for the grace of God go I" -

re: oxy and methadone, for many people it starts off as a way to control pain and unfortunately some slide into addiction. So I'm not too quick to write them off. ymmv obviously There was a photo essay a few years ago looking at coal miners in Kentucky or West Virginia. The miners would work in seams and tunnels that required them to hunch over all day. So after years of this, back pain was a serious issue and oxycontin was one way to deal with it. Unfortunately, some couldn't get off the use when they got better, if they even got better at all. It was an honest look at what should be a dying industry but is still an economic driver in many southern communities, and it's effect on the miners, their families and the communities as they try to deal with this problem. -

If you buy land, take a look at unorganised townships. For the most part it's a free for all. Can't recall the downside to them, maybe no services like a dump etc.. I have acreage south of North Bay and it mostly wooded, softwood for the most part. It's not worth the hassle to rent it out as it's off grid and I'd prefer to let friends use it if they're in the area. It's primarily a "get the hell out of the city and hear nothing and burn copious amounts of wood in the pit" kind of property. Moose, deer and bear are around. Great skies and neighbours. and lots of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. Waterfront is another, more costly situation. I guess you have to decide if this is a long term strategy and how much you want to sink in it and if you see yourself retiring there. Healthcare being the primary issue for most thinking of living year round.

devil's advocate. How many moaned for small towns when 11 and 69 were widened. Trout Creek, South River, Emsdale and Kearney are now bypassed meaning no one makes spontaneous stops in those towns. If I had property in the Kawartha's, I'd be on the 407 to the 35/115. re: the observatory. There was a nasty fight to preserve it and the RASC-Toronto ended up being the ones who came up with a plan when it's future seemed sealed. The Defenders and Richmond Hill Naturalists didn't have any concrete plans other than empty words and bluster to put forward as to how to save the lands. Last time I was up there, I was shocked as well to see all the trees gone. However imo, people should have been fighting for green space when RH was nothing but farmland.

if they haven't gotten back to you I would escalate it and make a paypal report. if you (fudally) have a webpage, then answer your emails. no excuses unless medical emergency.

any ideas on where to buy boat carpet?
woodenboater replied to iFish4real's topic in General Discussion
BPS should have it -
I use 8x35 waterproofs for canoeing but also have 10x50's at the cabin for watching wildlife etc.. I'd go 8x42 and higher next time for lower light. if you can, look at image stabilised binos as well. more spendy but would be good for spying muskies and I'd get German glass if I could afford it.

Not sure what your budget is for the 9.9's but I'd dig into the capital and get an outboard with an alternator. Don't imagine a client would be happy if his/her live well or graph went dead.

I believe the last bear in Newmarket was shot with tranquilizer while up a tree. Eventually went sleepy and fell out with a crash. Put into the cage and taken who knows where. Not to second guess the YRP, but if they tried to get it out of the tree, then that sounds like a bad decision. Should have let it be like the last one. Then bring it down with a dart. I think people can separate a bear from a cuddly toy and a bruin that can and would eat a human so I don't see them as being warm and fuzzy for that but for a bear that didn't have to die. ymmv

very clean video of two of the dudes. scumbags -
Wow, you had a stellar week dude ! Sounds like you've managed to dial in the water and hopefully avoided all the prop hazards as well lol. Totem is one of my favourite places to go. Cell service is sketchy and the view down Wolseley Bay is beautiful, esp during a raging thunderstorm ! Is Mark still working the dock and boats ?
