  1. I'd eat it. The payoff of potentially acquiring a superpower is worth the risk.
  2. How tolerant the dog will be to heat/cold really depends on the kind of dog you get. Regardless, for ice fishing, one of these can go a long way:
  3. I think it was a joke
  4. Agree with you completely. How you talk is important in verbal communication, so how you write is going to determine how you come off here. You don't even need to paste what you write into Word for a spellcheck because Firefox has one built in so there is no excuse.
  5. Well, in my trick or treating days I would have much rather got some fishing sinkers than the occasional pennies some old ladies would throw in...
  6. You don't have to put anything in the bucket. So the thawing/small would be identical to what regular mouse traps produce. I don't think this is a replacement to what you would use to deter mice from getting in, but in the event that they do it's nice to have a backup...
  7. Yes you use a bucket but instead of a plank that would need to be reset you have a rod going across and something cylindrical around it like an empty paper towel roll that you coat with peanut butter. You can put water but they won't climb out of a bucket anyway -- I think the water is just for a quicker death. If you are concerned about the humanitarian aspect of starving mice to death, put some poison at the bottom of the bucket.
  8. My family's dogs were uncomfortable on the boat the first few times but after didn't mind. Depending on what size and kind of dog you get they may be a huge time investment and demand you to be really active with them. Also -- if you take your dog ice fishing with you and use tip-ups, please be careful to never leave a minnow out of the water with hook/line still attached. I had a really scary experience with this a couple of years ago. Since people are posting pics:
  9. I see little point in yelling/giving the finger because even though that is a rightful reaction it won't accomplish much with people that do that, so if they are really a nuisance then moving on is best. Having said that, if he is following you around like that, then I don't know, there isn't really a good solution. Your best bet in terms of providing the best outcome is still probably to try to calmly reason with him, although I would be pretty furious in your situation.
  10. Yes you can buy a fillet at the store if you already have a limit of X species at home in the freezer, and you can buy over your possession limit of fillets at the store. Technically you would need a receipt to show that you bought the extra fillet at the store, but since in practice nobody is going to charge you for reasonable amounts of fish in your freezer it doesn't matter.
  11. If you are going to set traps I bet a bucket trap would work really well since it doesn't need to be reset.
  12. Hahaha awesome! That's a lot for the freezer!
  13. If you look hard enough you can also fine the odd stocking lists online.
  14. Maybe that's what the sleeping bag in the "spare" room is for?
  15. These are good, I would replace the bottom treble with one a size bigger though.
  16. Can't go wrong with a 2" Williams half/half. I don't like the hammered ones but a lot of guys prefer them...
  17. A little faster and he might have cleared the bridge.
  18. ah_long, Clearly the point here is that it's not just your own life you are endangering. And in that way, yes it is actually like using winter tires -- if your tires don't hold up, you skid and rear end someone, is it just your own life you are endangering?
  19. Very nice pics.
  20. Take wreckages like that and put them on a pedestal at every on-ramp onto the 401. Safer driving ensues.
  21. I don't think they are cormorants -- they look to have white bellies. Maybe migrating divers? That would explain the big number as well.
  22. Thanks, good to know!
  23. John, Are American stocked fish also clipped?
  24. Yeah my uncle showed me this technique a few years ago and I was converted.
  25. Mmm, winter you must come faster.
