  1. There is a way to fillet pike well. I wouldn't wrap the whole thing in tin foil unless people are okay with spitting out a bunch of y-bones. Here's a decent video that shows how to do it: As you can see they are pretty bony.
  2. Just a heads up - I accidentally clicked on one of the ads near the top of the page and: Could be nothing but I think it should be looked into...
  3. Awesome! For next year may I suggest:
  4. I think a lot of people are missing the point. It's not about everyone being grammatically perfect. In the last 50 posts or so people talked about learning disabilities and some have come out with them - and while their posts may not have been perfect it didn't matter because they were coherent and effort was clearly put into them, and the message was conveyed. The point isn't to offend these people. But when someone posts something like: hey guys i gunna go too lake grammer dis satuday i never bean befoare can sumone ofer tips i no tha fhish are in their also what bate do i use thanks al for advise That just pisses me off. If you are going to ask for advice, you are asking people to put in effort that they don't have to put in to help you. So put in some effort yourself into at least some punctuation and close to proper spelling and spacing so it's not an eyesore to read.
  5. Speaking of Temagami, when does it usually freeze up? And yes I'm aware that lakers aren't open until Feb 15th.
  6. Yeah Mike there's definitely a difference between taking a long time to launch a boat because of inexperience and things like difficulty manoeuvring the trailer and being a scum that is inconsiderate of other people. People described here fall into the latter category...
  7. So if I'm a racecar driver I can take my Ferrari onto the 401 and do 200mph?
  8. Nice fish, looks like you nailed them! Some of them are really starting to get that beauty fall colours.
  9. I should have clarified that I meant if they get them out on skis or on a trailer and then prop them off.
  10. Maps aren't really a necessity because you are mostly going to use it to return to waypoints you marked. You should either use the one you have or get one and get in the habit of making a waypoint where you parked your car before you walk out. It can save you if you are stuck in a blizzard or if for whatever reason you are out on the ice past sunset.
  11. It saddens me that threads of this sort are popping up now. I would understand in the summer, but most of the people who are still getting out there are seasoned vets, so there no excuse for being ignorant and unethical.
  12. How do the operators get the ice bungalows out on Nipissing?
  13. She says she did think it may have been stolen.
  14. Putting the sirens on giver you the right of way but it doesn't give you godmode, of course he should be charged.
  15. If you wear soft soled shoes or boots then slipping on vinyl is not a problem at all. Carpet would stink of fish slimy very quickly and would be very annoying. With vinyl you can just take a hose and wash everything down at the end of the day, and hooks don't get caught in it.
  16. I would actually prefer to put the heavier line on the non-metal spool because over time you will find that the non-metal one will get more nicks in it and will be more abrasive. Looks like I'm in the minority here though.
  17. I always feel my insides churn a little when I'm near a big dam, and I'm a pretty tolerant person. Sweet pictures.
  18. I got a 196 Fishmaster this year and love it. The only difference of the Fishmaster from the Superfisherman is the full spashwell, and the Superfishermans are a little more carpeted inside. If I'm not mistaken, are those pics from Marsh's? That is where I got mine.
  19. What? Also mutations are not necessarily a result of whatever is happening at the plant. Some species of fish are more prone to being mutated than others -- for example I've seen all kinds of weird pike come out of clean environments.
  20. At least the price is a giveaway... Was the picture originally posted on OFC? It pisses me off that there are scumbags like this lurking here.
  21. Technically some fish from the Hamilton Harbour are okay to eat in some quantities (although I personally wouldn't), read the Eating Guide. The blue-green algae don't really change this because it's not the muscle tissue that gets contaminated.
