  1. You can't buy a boat by reading about it...and you shouldn't buy a boat based on what anyone here says. Not because they're necessarily wrong, but because their tastes are different and they're BIAS. Just like me...I'm with Art, buy a Ranger and be done with it! LOL You have to go crawl around each boat for an hour; think about how you fish, what tackle you carry, kids, etc. Oh, and think about what you'll want to add to the boat afterwards...downriggers? electronics? tow hook for tubing? whatever...just make sure it's doable. Then go for a ride! make sure you have weight in the boat that will emulate what you'll be taking under normal circumstances. Jump on the electric motor and see how it feels...responsive? enough punch into the wind? Lastly, check out the trailer!! Be part of the launch and load sequence so you know how easy/difficult it is. While the boats in the water, check out the trailer. I can tell you that my Ranger Trail is one of the best things about my boat package. I can do solo launches or loads in under 2 minutes flat. You can't beat seat time to determine which boat you like better. Question, are these two choices based on what local dealers offer or personal choices? Good luck.
  2. I have the Motorguide Tour 109lb....chops just fine. And I'm using a 3 blade because I fish big water mainly.
  3. I haven't seen that but photobucket is a mess now for pop ups and running slow.
  4. LEO's see things and put themselves in positions that I don't envy. That's why it's a job not many of us would not want. Not to mention it's completely thankless.
  5. Take your ownership papers for the boat...that's it.
  6. Thanks for the update on the Plano boxes! I should start calling around, maybe I'll get lucky and find a stash of them. Doubt it though.
  7. The NEW and improved OFC Provincial Regulations: i) CO's and Police Officers will only stop and search guilty offenders. Obviously, anyone with a OFC bumper stick is not guilty and will never be inconvenienced. ii) Anyone towing a fishing boat can be stopped and inspected UNLESS there is no propeller on the boat, then it is obvious they did not fish from it or shore and should be left alone. We all know propellers are extremely difficult and time consuming to install. iii) CO's and Police Officers should simply ask people if they'd been fishing. If the response is "no" then they must let them go immediately. After all, no one lies to Officers and after that it's just plain harassment. iv) Officers can no longer set up inspection stations along well traveled routes used by fisherman and hunters. These techniques, though commonly used by hunters, are unfair when used by Officers. From now on, Officers will gear up in hip waders and walk the back country of Northern Ontario until they find guilty people, ask if they've been fishing and if they have a pocket full of trout, charge them. Hopefully this will not put to big a damper on their vacation time. v) Inspections must be kept to an absolute minimum. Stats show that Canada is 1 or 2 away from becoming a full blown police state. In fact, Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes have already applied for Canadian citizenship in order to start living the Demolition Man lifestyle. vi) Anyone caught wearing tinfoil and mumbling absurdities about search warrants, "I'm not a criminal", or "Search my boat?? What is this North Korea??!!" Will immediately be put back in the home and have their fishing and internet privileges suspended..at least until their regular cycle of SSRI's take affect. vi) And...if you happen to live in one of the logic-based towns of Barrie or Grimsby, just shut up, you're disrupting the natural flow of paranoia.
  8. ^^^^ Bill, just beware. You're sinking into the same quicksand of absurdity as I did. Abandon logic and save yourself! lol
  9. Or sharpen the end and have it come up through the drivers seat!! Seriously, the transmission idea sounds perfect.
  10. Yes, that's exactly the same thing.
  11. Depends on the body of water too. Some lakes are fun because they have big numbers of 1.5-2lb fish to keep you busy. A couple weeks ago on Erie, I fished for 3 hours and only caught 7 fish...but nothing under 4 lbs and the best would have been a tick over 6lbs. That's great, just not for kids or the impatient. Oh, and I was 2 or 3 kilometers from shore so obviously not for shore fisherman.
  12. Nice truck!! I think installing a kill switch on it is a great idea. Especially since you posted a nice picture and included your home address in picture #1!!!! I'd fix that quick.
  13. ^^^^ Looks like I have nothing to complain about!! Ouch!
  14. My son is going to start at Brock in St. Catharines this September. The rent prices for a one bedroom or bachelor apartment are about $700-$900 month. I'm now seriously considering buying another house and just renting out one bedroom to subsidize the costs. Any thoughts? You can still buy a small home for <$300K.
  15. This is very interesting! I can honestly say, I have completely underestimated the repercussions of lyme disease. I make sure my dog gets his monthly treatment but never give it thought for myself. Thanks for the info gents!
  16. I cross back and forth all the time and never knew there were restrictions on Americans entering Canadian waters. This is a obvious correction to a lopsided law. The only thing is, both sides have to realize this only means you get flotation privileges if you are properly licensed and you have the correct safety gear for the water your in...NOT just your home water. You cannot land your boat, anchor or go ashore in person. In fact, you're not allowed to pull along side another boat (close enough to pass goods) either. I've spend a lot of time on the US side and spoke to the Sheriffs many times without issue but it's very educational.
  17. Tournaments should start when the season starts and I don't believe for a second it promotes oos fishing.
  18. My sincere condolences to the family and all the friends on here that knew him. I'm truly sorry for your loss gentlemen.
  19. Get happy...you don't get a do-over!!
  20. I have to try this. I like to tie extra long leaders so I can periodically trim them down after fish, zebra mussels and rocks begin to damage the ends. This means they have to go through the rod eyes and this knot just may do a better job. Thanks Art.
  21. Dad is smart and wears a PFD too! Put a auto-inflate on his xmas list!
