It will be 50 feet long from nose to tail and will rise 27 feet up in the air. Measuring eight feet wide, the realistic mudcat will float six feet off the ground. Mudcat link here

Carp-Do people really throw the fish on shore as fertilizer
pikehunter replied to livinisfishin's topic in General Discussion
WOW! Such harsh words have been spoken. I guess we have to say good bye Good Bye -
Should of changed her name to Fishgutsforbrains. As Bugs Bunny would have said, "What a maroon!"

Beautiful cars Marko. Even though those Italian jobs are fast, snazzy and expensive my first choice would still be that nice bright red Mustang Cobra. Love the 'Stangs! even if the only one I ever had was a blue '67 that I only kept for a day before selling it to a buddy that rolled it at Port Dover. What a waste! It would be worth a fortune today just in parts alone.

Amazing report! You really braved the elements to pursue the sport! You got to be real careful out there especially this time of year. Can you imagine what everyone would be saying about you though if something bad had happened? But wow, what a great haul!

Carp-Do people really throw the fish on shore as fertilizer

Brave man, very brave man. When I was young and fished the Grand with my father he would toss the carp and suckers on the shore to let them integrate back into the ecosystem, a word no one heard of back then! But they never lasted long enough to rot. Some "foreigner" would come along and ask if he could have them? Sure take them all and the next one I catch you can have it too was his answer. As a teen my buddies would spear suckers in Rambo Creek in Burlington, I never joined in with the fun as it never occurred to me that standing on the creek bank with a spear in my hand would much fun and I thought that just spearing suckers and tossing them up on the bank was pointless. Today there are no suckers spawning in that creek, at least that part of it anyway. This could be due to the city diverting about 1/2 the water to a concrete channel for flood control and who knows maybe too many were speared? -
Great bunch of folks here on OFNC - N/F

Wishing your daughter a speedy recovery and a safe trip back home from the big smoke (literally eh.) All the best to your family and a smooth road ahead. -
G'mornin' folks That 11 feet of rain waiting to thaw reminds me of a Newfie joke... Newf goes ice fishing and had a good catch. He brought home 100 pounds of ice and his wife drowned trying to cook it. Have good day everyone.

I hear what you're saying Rob. Just that roughly 50% difference was a little much to understand at the time. A 5 to 15% difference in price is a less of a shock and is probably more in line with newer shipments on the shelf. I don't make it a regular habit to go cross border shopping, sometimes a change of pace though is nice and as you are aware there are many products not available in Canada so just going over to gaze in wild wonderment can be intoxicating! But then the cross border shopping problem doesn't end at Walmart or the outlet Mall. How many Canadians hop across the bridge and grab a cheap flight out of Buffalo? So many taxes and airport fees are less or non-existent in the States and that saves some a lot of money just in itself.

Same as Irishfield. If the trailer is on the tow vehicle I sometimes run the cable through the trailer and through a part on my hitch which cannot be removed. If I leave the trailer behind and drive off I will lock up through the receiver and wrap my cable around a tree and clamp the padlock on the ends. If no tree around then just as Wayne said, through the wheel and frame. Buy a decent cable. I used to have a really cheap one until the day I forgot the cable was still through the wheel and I hitched up and pulled away all locked up. The end of the cable pulled right through the metal crimp on the end distroying it but fortunately causing no harm to my wheel or trailer. I now have an extra long Club brand cable and I have a lock through the coupler. My motor has a bolt lock through the transom and a bar lock on the clamps. I may only keep an honest crook away but at least an experienced thief will have to invest a little time if he wants my boat, trailer or motor.

Yep, probably was staged Jer.

N.P don't be concerned. Have a good time in the land of red white and blue.

That was funny. The bystanders just stood there and watched the cops run into the building without saying a word as to the fact the robbers were in the car. Can you imagine what the guys in the car were thinking as the cops ran past them and they could just drive off?

Not asking for equal pricing, just pricing that is fair, a 5 - 15% difference can be justified. And yes I agree that some food prices are better in Canada than the States, but then I believe that is only a regional observation because of grocery store competition in Southern Ontario. We have an overabundance of grocery stores as to the population and now Wally is entering into food big time so we should at least be assured that grocery costs may remain reasonable and the price we pay in the Toronto-Hamilton-Niagara area will be dictated by weater and fuel costs.

Glad that helped. I did a search on dreams a few months ago and came up with those sites after having so many strange dreams about my late father and late brother these explanations helped to put things in perspective.

I figured what the heck, everyone is always talking about the benefits of upgrading your fishing gear especially regarding line that I considered trying P.P last year but I didn't want to pay 19.99 for it so didn't buy any. So this winter I've been looking around and I see that it is still the same price! They can't blame it on old inventory as the line I have seen is recent stock signified by the different packaging. On a recent trip across the border to Niag. Falls I saw it in Wal Mart for something like 13 dollars and change. So the stores are still charging about 50% more for it in the great white north! I wonder how many other products have not had their prices re-adjusted? Sorry to beat an old horse but you know what I mean.

I guess you all do have some snow up their
pikehunter replied to aplumma's topic in General Discussion
I was just out driving and saw that the pickup in front of me had Florida plates partially covered with snow. I don't get it? So many northerners are wishing they were someplace warm and sunny and those 2 clowns are up here slippin' and slidin' around! Go figure eh? -
Something to consider about the meaning of life
pikehunter replied to Marc Thorpe's topic in General Discussion
That was excellent. I watched the Youtube version of the full lecture posted by Gerritt as the Opra one froze up on me. Very time consuming but it was not wasted. -
I believe that they are not responsible for errors, read the agreement fully. As many know I have been in the window and door business for many years and it always amazes me when I go into a house and see what inspectors have missed on their reports. I pulled up to a house in a nice Oakville neighbourhood once. The owner had called because her window was fogged up, a seal failure for sure. As I pulled up to the curb I could not help but notice the brick window sill under the huge living room window crumbling and large pieces of brick falling into the garden below. I knew I was in for a treat right away and knew she had more problems then just a fogged up window. Inside I pulled back the curtains. There was virtually no drywall at all under the window, it had disintegrated from water leaks and had obviously been happening for quite some time. BTW, the house at that time was only about 6 years old. I asked her how long that this problem had existed. She didn't know as they had only owned the house about 8 months! I asked if they had not noticed this when they looked at the house. They had not and relied on a home inspection. The inspector had made no mention of it in his report. I asked if they could not go after him. She said it was right in the contract that the inspector could not be held liable for oversights. Since that day I have never put much value in inspections and have seen other problems since then. Too many people put all their faith in the inspection. They should go over the house with a fine tooth comb themselves with the assistance of someone they can trust and then have an inspection done. We about put an offer on a house once but lost out to another bidder who were the couple that had looked at the house at exactly the same time as we had. They spent all of 10 minutes if even that long looking at the house and were putting their faith in the home inspector. I could not believe it! We spent almost an hour checking things over and if I was too seriously pursue it I would have checked things over once more and then had the inspection. Best of luck Rick, I hope that you can recoup some of this unexpected cost.

WOW! Those are the sweetest words a salesman could ever hear! Good luck on your search for a boat, I'm sure you'll get much useful advise from OFC'rs

He sounds just like a coach my son had in Rep B.Ball when he was about 13. The guy had the top AAA team in Ontario, all of Eastern Canada in fact, but he had a hell of a temper! Yell, scream, rant and rave and then without pausing turn right around and be as sweet as sugar to a kids mother. My son refused to go back to that team the following year even though I wanted him to go for it. Sure the guy could be an animal but the whole team was excellent and he got results. As Pikehunter JR looks back at it he sort of wishes he had stuck it out for another year or 2 just for the refined skills he would have developed. Different strokes for different folks eh?

If the kid has something to offer for sale then it is technically not panhandling. I see what you are saying, there is a lot of this going on everywhere we go. If it is a "charitable" cause I don't care for I don't buy anything. If I don't feel like buying anything then I don't buy. If I know the kid or the kid's family I buy. If it is out and out panhandling then I give nothing. I can remember my son going to New Brunswick for the Eastern Canada Basketball Championship, (they took gold BTW ) when he was about 13. We had to pay for them to go as none of the parents could raise any corporate donations...have you ever tried raising funds for basketball in Canada? Hockey would have been a much easier sale! The team did however get an old school bus donated for the trip by the Lions Club but had to pay wages, meals and accommodations for 2 drivers. The team decided not to try the candy sales or a carwash or other means of funding. If corporate didn't give then we all had to pay out of pocket which I had no problem with. When my son went to California for High School basketball we paid out of pocket for him to go, no funds were donated. I really hate and detest the stores that hit you up for a donation at the cash register. That really bugs me. I always say no to them. Then you get that "look" from the cashier because stores like Walmart make it a contest between the cashiers to see who can generate the most contributions so they can hope to win a 10 cent pin for their vest. Why should I donate my pennies to the store so that they can give the money and they look good? As for the chocolate bar fund raising it is a bit of a scam. The ones making the most profit is the company that organizes the drive and sells the candy to the charitable group.

RADAR TRAPS on the 404..AGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pikehunter replied to jat's topic in General Discussion
I saw them set up like that a few years ago on the QEW somewhere around the Grimsby area. A cop with a radar gun was up on the overpass bridge and 2 chase cars were below, just out of sight behind the bridge and on the entrance ramp to the highway and a 3rd had someone pulled over. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. Luckily I was within limits and made it through the trap. You have to be careful, stay within a safe range cross your fingers and you'll be OK. -
