  1. There are reports about this lake having lower water levels than what is historic. There maybe lots of places to fish but I bet that the lake is not what it once was. Same as the everglades, a lot drier than they used to be because of water usage and drought. But I am not up to date on how things are down there recently so correct me if I'm wrong. Nice report and pictures, nice to see them.
  2. Yes she does go fishing and sometimes outfishes me! But that's OK it helps to build interest. She is tied for my 1st favourite fishing companion. Now if I can only get her to take her own catch off the hook and to thread a worm herself.... OK there goes my mind off on a perverse tangent again
  3. Good price, now I bet you just can't wait to get the line wet. Get out there when the seasons open and put it to work, we want to see some pictures!
  4. Mepps Black Fury dressed or Mepps Brown Trout dressed. Both #3 or #4, preferably #4. The Brown Trout is difficult to find in the Hamilton area. If anyone has seen it in the local tackle shops the heads up is appreciated.
  5. That's right! Tiger Woods Golf! I usually control Tiger and my son has his own character made up. I don't do that poorly, usually under par by several strokes but he is better
  6. My son has one but plays the sports games only, basketball, hockey, football, golf.... Even I started to play golf on it! Got hooked on it during the Christmas break but he won't play with me anymore cause I'm too easy to beat! He plays on line once in a while.
  7. I'm afraid we'll be reading many more such stories in the near future. Anybody in the market for a motorhome should be wringing their hands together with the hope of liquidation sales of new and used units. It doesn't take long to figure out that living the life of freedom does not come cheap! Lets see... fuel at $1.07/litre, insurance fees, depreciation, interest rates, repairs, maintenance, camping fees of $40/night, storage costs. Almost cheaper to buy a Cadillac and sleep at Holiday Inns. I did a lot of calculations about 17 years ago when we had one, it was a small motorhome but still it was costly.
  8. Link to it Just for those fishing board purists that find non fishing threads a bother. But I thought it was interesting enough to post the link.
  9. Incredible, yes. Surprising, no.
  10. Personal decision on whether one desires to eat anything at all. Sure the fish from some bodies of water are not too healthy to eat but what really is? Fast foods are out and all the prepackaged processed foods are just nothing but poison in a box. Holy crap! you can't even eat bean sprouts, lettuce. How many other so called healthy foods have been pulled off the store shelves because it was toxic? And where do you think all that sewage sludge ends up????? Yep right on the farmers crops, that crap you flushed down the toilet last month is on the celery you ate yesterday. And that Chinese made toy your kid has in his mouth probably contains lead or some other toxin that it hasn't been tested for. And oh yeah what about all the imported foods we get in the winter, not all comes from the southern U.S, a lot of it comes from Mexico, Peru, S. Africa, Chili and of course they have excellent trustworthy farming practices in those countries, gag gag. So no matter what you eat it carries the possibility that it too is contaminated. Even processed foods originating from N. America contain ingredients from some not too careful countries. And I haven't even hit on Americas favourite baseball park food, hot dogs! We all worry too much and remember, believe nothing what you read and half of what you see. That goes for the both the good and bad reports. (Some may say what I just wrote here or this thread.) So don't fret over your neighbour chowing down on that salmon out of Lake O. or the walleye from the Grand or even the Pike out of the Montreal River everything is contaminated to a degree from something. ....Oh yeah Hi Bosc and Fishmaster, how ya all doin'? See ya on the river. LOL Muddyriver.
  11. That's right. And to be really, really honest the fishing is absolutely terrible. Don't waste your time going down to the Grand at all. The fish are all deformed and contaminated, that is if you are lucky enough to even get a strike! And the water clarity, well forget it! It is so poor that the few fish that reside there can't even see the bait you are offering! And lets not forget about what the polluted water will do to your boat! If you're lucky only the paint will be stripped off the hull. If you are unlucky your entire hull will disintegrate right under your feet! So stay away. Stay away I say. Don't go near the evil muddy river.
  12. After all that has been said I do eat the occasional eye from the Grand, the lower Grand. As for the local harbour I have never eaten anything from there, yet. Many people do though and they seem to be in decent health, at least they aren't glowing green anyway. I also enjoy Lake Erie perch and they are healthier looking than the worm infested ones I have caught in Simcoe or Couchiching. As for eating bass. What's wrong with them? I find that smallmouth taste fine the occasional time I have eaten them and my son says that he likes the taste of silver bass. Either is OK and are no worse tasting than sole or ocean perch and then many people love salmon, I don't. Personal preferences I guess.
  13. LOL, I love my old "Johnson" too! But I kind of like my newer Johnson on the back end of my boat too.
  14. PM on the way Cliff...
  15. Happy birthday, hope Granny, Jethro and Elly good to ya! Have a sip o' rheumatis medicine and a dip in the ceement pond.
  16. That is what I was just thinking Ben. In the shallow water, under 15' it may hinder success. Most of my fishing is exactly as you said, either river fishing or for bass so red may be a bad choice. Thanks for the help guys.
  17. I saw it at one of the Walmarts around Hamilton a couple of weeks ago, the one down the street from me though didn't have it. Question: The weight I wanted was colour RED I haven't seen red before and didn't buy it for this reason. Would red P.P be alright to use? Advantage or disadvantage? Thanks.
  18. Yeah, you're probably right Wayne! Something like that just might scare me away!
  19. Strip down and maybe they'll have nothing to say. Just a thought. I didn't think they would be racing around in their birthday suites in the winter, real die-hard nudists I guess.
  20. Cabin Fever! It is getting hold of us all. Guess these threads are helping to keep the board up and running and are providing some entertainment. Quit complaining. Knock offs have been around forever and will continue to be. Just be happy that there is a selection to choose from. Where would you like them to display the knock off Cleos? Over in the womens clothing section? Now that would be embarrassing for you and the ladies!
  21. I remember him! from the old beach movies, the Frankie Avalon era.
  22. Glad to hear all is OK Cliff. You have to watch out for stiffness for the next day or so as said soft tissue damage can take it's time. My wife experienced that in a car crash situation, the following day and thereafter, whiplash and it's nothing to joke about!
  23. There ya go Roy LOL
  24. I almost ticked my pants on that one Ha Ha, there goes the auto censor again!
  25. Congratulations! Now you can locate every Tim Horton's in Canada!
