  1. I'll third that. Just S. of the overpass, left side up on the hill. Nissan is the same motor.
  2. Don't get that, evidence all there. Yet the cops put rigged trap cars in public parking lots to catch these "jack asses" red handed. No wonder car insurance is so high in this city! When we moved here my car insurance jumped up 800 a year, same coverage, same cars nothing different except home address. If I had known it was going to jump up that much my decision to move here would have been swayed and we may have stayed put on the other side of the bay. I knew it would go up but assumed it was going to be only a few bucks. Bad enough Hamilton property taxes are higher then have to pay higher premiums too. Yep, one block to the east of you, a block S. of Queenston.
  3. Really sad isn't it? when you can't defend your own property As for resetting the code it wouldn't do much good as according to the manual the factory code stays as default. I should have given it a try to find out though just in case. Went to a car alarm/stereo shop today to check out alarms for my son's car. Told the guy the story and he figures he probably used a jimmy bar, slim jim or whatever you wish to call it because if the combo was figured out the alarm wouldn't have sounded Dunno, maybe he's right? I thought all car locks had a plate or a cover over the rods nowadays to prevent that.
  4. You got off easy considering what could have happened. Sometimes common interests pay off Betcha youre glad he wasn't a card carrying P3TA member I remember those days Lew. It was a much more decent and civil way for the law to handle a miniscle incident. These days you have to make sure you dot yours I's and cross all your T's so to speak.
  5. Was awake early this morning, just had a look at OFC and went over to the recliner to put my feet up and catch acouple Z's in the rec room before any one else got up. The basement stair light was on and it shines out through the kitchen window to the driveway and out the back door onto the porch. Feet up, TV on, almost asleep. A car horn starts going off. Took me a few beeps of it to realize whats up, it's my car and it's parked at the rear of the driveway just past the back corner of the house in front of the garage. Wife jumps up out of bed, runs to the back door, I jump up and climb the steps. Motion light in the driveway is on, the horn is blasting away, 4 ways are flashing, the interior light is on and it had just snowed enough to show foot tracks up the driveway. I figure out how to disarm the alarm (didn't even know the Five Hundred had one as the owners manual says "if equiped") Got a flashlight and started to follow the tracks. On the way in was one set, leaving was the exit set of tracks. They came up along the street side walk from the south, up the drive and back out then they ran south to Queenston Rd. I know he? ran because the footprints were spaced quite far apart. I lost them at the corner of Queeston Rd. as it was salted and a block away from Horton's. In the meantime the police had been called because the wife said it was a good idea. Just as I turn around after watching a pedestrian walk down Queenston with a small package in one hand and a timmie;s in the other ( The offender???? hmmm) I hear a hell of a bang! Swore something fell from space and hit the road behind me. I go back to the corner and there is a car smashed up into a concrete barrier at the corner Queenston traffic circle (for those familiar with the area) I get the cell out, call 911. The operator answered asked if the driver is OK, said ya she's walking around looking at the car. Aked if Ok and she said yes. Told the 911 girl my name and told her the only reason I'm out walking around is because my car was just broken into and I was following the footprints. A few minutes go by. A Cop comes around the corner. Says are you Harry, I answered and he said that he was on his way to my place, said another was coming for the accident. The culprit walked right past a Saturn and a Plymouth van parked on the street and my son's car in the driveway then up to mine to break in. Can't get over that, purposly to my car! I can only assume the keypad is the reason he went to my car or the fact it was hidden somewhat from the street. We looked in side, nothing gone, the door had been opened (it was locked) Looked in the glove compartment and my son's GPS was still there too. Got scared away by the commotion I guess. Cop said they ae just after GPS's, sunglasses and small crap like that they can sell for a few bucks and get some crack. I guess he messed around with the cars keypad lock system and after the required amount of attempts for the alarm to sound he actually hit the correct combination on the last try, the action started and he ran. What an interesting way to begin a rare Saturday day off work. And I feel for my neighbours because of the horn. I'm glad though that no damage done or missing property. Sorry for the drawn out post but My mind and emotions are still zipping around my head.
  6. Don't shop at Costco, can't wrap my brain around the idea I have to pay to shop there. Usually find the deals I want at regular discount grocery stores, Lococo or Highland packers and even Wallyworld on occasion. The grading does not always mean the meat is Canadian raised. Only refers to the grade. U.S or other imports can be graded to Canadian grade standards. Take a close look no matter where you shop.
  7. That's what we get for living in the true north strong and free....oh yeah, when does the free start? Considered myself lucky last night. Twice actually. After finding out my son was rushed to ER late yesterday afternoon I found out he was OK...they think. Then filled the tank up for $1.14 litre at the Woodward Av., Hamilton Pioneer. All the others were 1.21 - 1.22, even the Pioneer a few blocks from that one was over a buck 21.
  8. OMG. Bilbo is even worse than Taxi by Shatner! As stated:
  9. After I found the Harry Chapin 30,000 pounds of Bananas I came across this. It's really bad, but I just had to spread it around. Now I like Shatner but WOW.
  10. Scranton Pa. ...30,000 pounds of bananas, Jim Croce. Always comes to mind when I hear the words Scranton Pa. BTW, those sludge trucks all have their GPS units tuned to Shrutes farm LOL
  11. I hear ya but where do you think those tanker trucks full of sludge from the sewage plants are heading to? Right to the farm, that's where. I see China on a food label and I usually drop it then and there, what is still worrysome is whare are all the ingredients in processed food coming from? From countries you don't want it to come from is the answer. You can't escape 3rd. world food unless you know the exact location your food came from. So all natural, local grown or raised and no store bought spices or additives. Even then who really knows
  12. Had a 89 corsica for many years, always passed with flying colours even on it's last test it did tremendous and it wasn't running all that great. A few months later I drove it to the wreckers. My 97 Aerostar had over 340,000 on it and the same, always passed and I only ever changed the plugs once in it at around 150,000 clicks. Before every e test I changed the oil and ran the snot out of them for about half an hour to 45 minutes, pulled up to the shop and always left the engine running to ensure the motor was still warmed up when they ran it in. Never did add anything to the gas or oil, always passed. Best of luck.
  13. Urban Outdoor Adventures...or whatever the fishing show's actual name was. You know the guy, the English dude (Shawn) who's a member of this board. Wish it would come back to TV. Kept trying to win the lure pack each week but never had any luck. Now that was a fishing show the average guy could relate to.
  14. Yep, also glad yo're OK, thank god for the attentive paramedic. I didn't know we had fire ants in Ontario. First I've heard of them up here, familiar with them in Florida though.
  15. Sorry you had a bad experience Uncle Buck, always thinking about dropping a line in Binbrook (soft water season) We tried it mant years ago without success. I don't want to change the subject however I have never understood this... How can public owned campgrounds not make a profit when private ones can flourish? The costs associated with operating a private campground must be very high with mortgages, taxes, insurance, labour, repairs....you get the point. Public ones are on free land so to speak, probably pay no property tax and do not have provide the operator with an income and in many cases the price to rent a space is comparable for a night or season. Daily use rates are not cheap either at conservation areas or provincial parks and I assume that would cover a large portion of the operating costs. Also overnight camping is a sideline to the day use, just like a store that has the square footage on hand already, they are open and paying overhead so they add a deli counter, sell a few subs and a coffee or two and instant profit! Gravy With all of that in mind I don't get how they can loose money. Perhaps typical government poor management practices?
  16. The kids may not have realized the danger, maybe after your introvention they now understand. This is the same as parents allowing todlers to run across a busy store parking lot by themselves where they are too small to see from out the rear window of a car, van or a truck. Parents are probably the type who haven't the foggiest clue or care what the kids are up to as long as they aren't bothering them. This takes me back to when I was a kid. My father told me to not venture out onto the icebanks that sometimes develop on this end of L. Ont. because of the cracks and instability of the huge chunks of ice. I never did go out onto them. Seen others do it and I cringe.
  17. When I signed up they informed that yes there was a time period for points. Forget the time span though. Use them or loose them! Can't blame them, casinos do the same. Read the fine print, or are you one of those that never reads the directions or rules?
  18. There is another on You Tube, but you'll have to find it.
  19. Crappy Tire, oh sorry you did say to spell it out. All right then...Canadian Tire. I believe Walmart gave it a good shot way back in the beginning when they first enered Canada but they started cutting back and back and still further back till they got to the point of only stocking the biggest selling items. Typical big box store, carry just the high volume fast moving crap. You can always tell what they are getting rid of for good, clearout pricing is the hint. I bought a bunch of meps at Wallyworld one fall day dirt cheap years ago , they never brought them back in after that so it now means a trip to Bass Pro or LeBaron's to stock up.

  21. I believe the guy that writes the Lemonade books does not suggest you buy extended warranties. I turned the offer down on my old Aerostar. Leased it for 4 years, bought it in the end and they tried to sucker me into an extended warranty. Told them they were nuts, I've driven the thing for this long and I don't know what's wrong with it? No way I was going to throw away 18 hundred bucks! Never once regreted it. Turned it down on the used Five Hudred I bought in October, $1700. Hopefully I will never have to regret it, but then that money can pay for repairs and if all works out the car will be ready for the scrap yard by the time a serious issue arises anyhow...knocking on wood Have the car checked out completly by a good mechanic before any dealer warranty runs out and you may be better off by banking the money.
  22. Happy to hear the news! Had mine done a few years ago, went from super thick high index lenses to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. Now I use dollar store glasses to read with and it's the first time in my life I can wear real honest to god sunglasses. Only issue was with lights at night and white on black etc. The Doc. did laser surgery afterwards, twice on my left and once on the right to help the problem. It got better but still a little awkward. At the beginning I would see 2 sets of headlights coming at me on the road, that sort of thing. Now lights or bright light are just an issue but not too serious. It is an amazing experience.
  23. Got a few of them, one was my father's, one I used it until a few years ago when a pike sripped the gear on it (aluminum gear) and one my next door nieghbour gave me in great condition just like my father's. Like the 300 so much that my present reel is a version of that, 300x. Have the older version that came out in the 50's, forget the model # right now. 300 was not cheap in it's day, cost was more than you pay for today's version of it.
  24. Seen them around, interesting. Would have a role in an urban invironment but I sure wouldn't want to be in a head on My brother once drove a cabover transport truck, that was his biggest fear.
