The day after my brother had his Vasectomy he said he wanted to take it easy and sit in my ice hut. I told him I had moved the hut out from shore "a ways". Ever seen a guy "shuffle" through a foot of snow for half a click while whining about how his "boys" were killing him ? It snowed all day so the walk back was even funnier. Welcome, and sorry to hear about your friend. You fish 7 days a week ? If you can't put more effort into it than that, then I guess 7 days a week will have to do. I have the Hi Tech PE2 (quick flip style) I bought it dirt cheap at BPS. Never had a problem with it other than snapping off the pull tabs on both zippers. Fixed that with zip ties left in a big loop. It's better now than it was before they broke. The sleigh could be designed better for pulling though. Some days its more like a plow than a sled. I used to have an Eskimo Quick Flip 2. It worked well but the tent material was way too thin and allowed the wind to blow thru too easy, not good on a real cold day. Maybe they have better material now. The pic "Sinker" showed looks like better material than mine had. Quick Flip style portables are the only way to go in my opinion. I find the box type way too confining, especially with 2 guys in it. P.S. - I spray WD40 on and in each tube (frame) that slides inside one another. Makes for easy set ups and take downs. Some sprayed on the zipper helps with freezing up too. Hookset.

Well Bass closes here in 10 days. So I have another week or so of that. Walleye doesn't close in the fall here so that'll keep me busy until the water gets hard. Then it's off to the small, quick freezing lakes, for 'Eyes and Crappies. Then the bigger lakes will be froze so it's Laker and Whitefish time so.... There's always somewhere to wet a line in Ontario, regardless of the season. We're pretty darn lucky. Hookset.

I want to live my next life backwards! You start out dead and get that out of the way right off the bat. Then, you wake up in a nursing home feeling better every day. When you are kicked out of the home for being too healthy, you spend several years enjoying your retirement and collecting benefit checks. When you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work 40 years or so, getting younger every day until pretty soon you're too young to work. So then, you go to high school: play sports,date,drink, and party. As you get even younger, you become a kid again! . You go to elementary school, play, and have no responsibilities. In a few years, you become a baby and everyone runs themselves ragged keeping you happy. You spend your last 9 months floating peacefully in luxury, spa-like conditions: central heating, room service on tap. Until finally...You finish off as an orgasm. Priceless!

lol - yep the minnow bucket was for minnows. Had a dozen in case we had a hard time finding 'em but we didn't need them. Hookset.

Went Bassin' on Saturday. Weather was incredible, no wind, warm temps, and the sun shone all day. Last year at this time the Smallies were all schooled up in 20 - 35 feet of water on this Lake. Was a little different yesterday though. I started throwing a white 1/2 oz. spinnerbait while my buddy swam a flipping jig. We just wanted to cover water until we got to the area that they were holding in last season. We ended up with a nice surprise when we both caught fish out of 3-5 feet of water while we burned along. We got a couple each on the way to our "spot". The water temp (surface) started out at 45 degrees and rose to 48 by the end of the day. When we got to the spot we ended up pulling some more fish from shallow water then we started looking deeper. The Bass seemed to be holding in 3 different areas instead of being schooled up in one big ball. Area one was real shallow with heavy wood. Area 2 was in water close to 15 feet deep that butted up to the deepest wood where it changed to a rocky / sandy bottom. Then area 3 was where they usually are, in water 22 to 30 something feet. Any time the bottom changed from hard sand to rock we marked fish. The deeper Bass came on tubes while we still caught the shallower fish on spinnerbaits and flipping jigs. Caught lots of fish and the average size was very respectable. The only boat on the Lake on a beautiful fall day. What a blast Hookset

I have the 2 pc. Mustang Ice Rider set. Great for inside a portable hut, usually just wear a sweater and take the coat off. I also find that most times even outside I'm running around without the coat, just the pants and a good sweater. The bib pants come up your back pretty far and the front bib is tall too. A one piece would be better for those who brave the outside when it's 30 below but I hide in the little hut when it gets like that. Woosie.... Hookset.
