  1. A transducer won't give speed. But a paddle wheel will. I think you would either need a paddle wheel or GPS to get speed.
  2. It could be the thermo-coupler; but I am sure there are other possibilities too. I think this is something that you want a qualified technition to look at.
  3. Breaded then boiled in oil... they won't do that again.
  4. There used to be a $500,000 life time capital gains exemption; but that was eliminated back in the early to mid nineties. When it ended, tax payers had the option of declaring the gain to that date and then using the exemption to avoid tax on the gain. That may be what you are referring to.
  5. Did you make any capital improvemens to the property? If so, you may be able to reduce your capital gain. If you have owned the property for more than 20 years or so, there can be additional complications due to the life time exemption, spousal residence, etc. p.s. Capital gains are taxes at half the rate of income; however, the full amount of the capital gain affects any kind of social benefits that you may be receiving (GST rebate, old age pension, etc.)
  6. Considering that in the mid eighties a Commador dot matrix printer costed over $300, that is not a bad price. Ten years ago I certainly didn't think that I would be able to pick something like that up for $1300.
  7. You could come up with a list of reasons not to vote for anyone. Here are some responses to these claims. 1. Contempt for Canada: This one is a joke. It was MPs from the Liberal and NDP parties that found him guilty. His opponents make it sound like he was found guilty in an unbiased court of law. 2. Cheated in the 2006 Election: Other parties have been found guilty of election issues as well. Liberal senator Raymond Lavigne has already served jail time for fraud. 3. Turned Canada's Surplus into Debt: Trudeau ran several consecutive deficits which when measured as a percent of GDP were more than twice as bad as Harper's worse deficit. Trudeau increased Canada's debt more than 10 fold from $18 billion to well over $200 billion. When the Chretien led Liberals started running surpluses in 90's they did so by cutting transfer payments to the provinces by 34% in one year and taking money from the E.I. surplus. They also ran their surpluses during a world wide economic boom. Harper has restored funding for health care and continues to increase health care transfer payments by 6% a year; well in excess of inflation. He also ran his deficits during a world wide recession; we would have had deficits regardless of who was in power. He had surplus budgets prior to the recession. 4. Wants US-style bank deregulation: He as had a majority government for almost four years and has not proposed any legislation to de-regulate banks. 5. Opposes universal health care: Health care in Canada has always been administered by the provinces. Provinces do receive transfer payments from the federal government to help fund health care. As mention above; these transfer payments were cut by 34% by Chretien; Harper has since restored the transfer payments and is committed to continued increases of a minimum of 6% a year until 2017. Afterward they will increase by a minimum of 3% a year depending on inflation and growth in GDP. 6. Harper shut down Parliament Twice: Chretien and Trudeau did it too. The Liberals, NDP, and Bloc could have formed a coalition after the parliament restarted. However, polls at the time indicated that Harper would have received more than 50% of the popular vote if an election was held then. The Ignatief decided it was not a good idea. 7. Wants to replace the stable CPP with the untested PRPP: I have not heard of any legislation proposed to this. He has a majority so he could have done this if he wanted to. 8. Shut down Women's and Minority advocacy groups: How much funding do men's advocacy groups get? 10. Fraud: Liberals and NDP have been found guilty of offences too. As mentioned above, Liberal senator Raymond Lavigne has already served jail time for fraud. Liberal senator Harb claim a residence that was deem to uninhabital as his primary residence. He later sold the property but continued to claim it as his primary residence for several years after the sale. 12. Wasteful G20 spending, and a record number of arrests: It was the provincial and city police that made the arrests. 15. The Harper Conservatives want to buy 65 stealth fighter jets using $29 billion of tax payers' money: The plan to purchase F35s was initiated by the Liberals. The program was inherited by Harper. 19. Sabotaging efforts to deal with climate change: Carbon emissions have actually decreased by 5% under Harper; they had increased under the Liberals. I do admit the Harper has not done much to prevent climate change; but neither did the Liberals.
  8. I don't smoke it myself; however, I do support legalization. I know some otherwise law abiding citizens who hold steady jobs or run businesses who do smoke pot. I don't think they should have criminal records just because they smoke a joint one in awhile. That is still not enough to get me to vote for Trudeau though.
  9. I have had quite a few of these pauses in the power supply lately. Yesterday was certainly not the first one.
  10. 18th place is best in the league? I take it that your day job doesn't require you to work with numbers.
  11. 12. Yes, licenses were required back then. They were introduced around the mid to late eighties.
  13. Some of the stores will be gone next week. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/target-canada-closing-16-stores-090000568.html
  14. Hopefully we can improve to atleast 27th; maybe even 28th. I think 29th or 30th is unrealistic at this point; especially after last night.
  15. It has been quite a while now. That was one of the first this McGuinty did; almost as soon as he broke most of his promises.
  16. I think you are correct; but I am not sure if there is much you can do about. If you made any kind of official complaint, they will already be gone before it gets resolved.
  17. The game didn't mean anything to the Devils. Can't blame them for resting him for the playoffs. We cannot expect them to start him just to give Toronto a better chance.
  18. If the job is done right then frozen pipes shouldn't be a problem... assuming that the furnace is working. From my understanding, they don't split when they freeze. So atleast if it does freeze there will be fewer problems.
  19. Just out for a little strole across Lake St. Clair on his way to Toronto https://uk.news.yahoo.com/man-rescued-walking-across-frozen-lake-canada-181426722.html#DUhz1BS
  20. Suzuki made the Johnson four strokes. They are a good motor. The only downside is that there are not as many dealers as Mercury or Yamaha.
  21. Do you need to received faxes; or, just send them? A dedicated fax machine may offer some advantages over a printer/scanner when it comes to receiving faxes. I don't think they have any advantage in sending them. With my printer, I don't have to scan pages to be faxes later. I can just set the printer to fax and send the pages directly. It has a sheet feeder, so I can send multiple pages in one fax. It may be able to receive faxes too; I have just never bothered looking into that feature.
  22. Actually, that helps them more than scoring on the opposition... better draft choices.
  23. The Lake Ontario Management Unit is holding an information session in Whitby on Tues March 17 6:30 - 10:00pm Centennial Building 416 Centre St. South, Whitby Should be a very interesting evening and will include a review of the planned changes to the stocking program for the next 5 years. Come on out and show the ministry you care about Lake Ontario and it's fishery.
  24. Yes, those were the days when the Horse Palace was used for the dogs shows and some other shows as well. Too bad that they lost that.
  25. To each there own. I enjoyed the show a lot more than I enjoy a trip to BPS.
