I figure that I have saved several thousand dollars by not buying extended warranties on anything that I buy. I have yet to have to replace or have anything repaired during the period that would have been covered by an extended warranty. Even if I do eventually have to replace one or two items that would have been covered by an extended warranty, I will still be ahead of the game by not having paid for extended warranties on anything that I buy. The only time that an extended warranty would have come in handy is for my oven. It still works except for the self cleaning feature. I have a wife so not having the self cleaning feature really isn't that important. Certainly not worth the cost of the warranty. I would say that if you never buy extended warranties will almost certainly come out ahead of the person who does buy them; even if that other person does ending up using them on a couple of purchases. This is especially true of high tech items; you will probably be able to buy something better for less money in the 2-4 year period that the extended warranty would cover.

Does this mean that the Leafs are going to win the cup?

I am not sure if they still build Eagles they way they used to. If they do, then there is no way that you will get it apart without resorting to a sledge hammer... good luck getting back together after that. It may be different now; but in the past they had a fixed fee to replace your unit as the units were not serviceable (they couldn't get them apart either). Once they ran out of inventory for your unit then you were SOL as far as service was concerned. That happened to me with my Eagle Magna II. If they have changed the way they are made, and you can get it apart; then fixing it yourself is probably your best option. If not, then send it back for replacement right away; especially if your model is no longer in production. Once they are out of stock then you are out of luck.

I wanna get into hunting in the New Year!
John Bacon replied to ilario11's topic in General Discussion
I am in a similar situation. I would also like to get into hunting. I would lean more toward the 12 gauge. You can legally hunt any game in Ontario with a 12 gauge. So you don't have to buy more firearms if you decide to go after new species. -

The price of a barrel of oil has increased from about $65 to about $95. The price of a barrel of oil in Canadian dollars has not dropped; thus, no drop in oil prices. In fact, it is the increase in the price of oil that is driving out dollar up. Canada is an exporter so as the price of oil increases so does our dollar.

The increased control is especially true when trolling into a strong wind. If you try trolling into the wind at a slow speed the wind will tend to push the bow around. Back trolling with the wind doesn't work so well; I only tried that once.

These is such a thing... my brother wrenched is knee in one. It had two tracks, one ski, and the engine was in the back.

Great to see a Canadian company forging ahead
John Bacon replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Actually, if you have a business presence in Ontario (three stores would qualify as a presence) then you are required to charge PST on online orders shipped into Ontario from other provinces. This rule applies to most provinces. I am not sure if LeBaron's has discovered a loophole or just hasn't been caught. Regardless, if you are not charged PST then you would be required to self assess and remit them yourself... I am sure that you will do the right thing -
Ironically the fine for leaving your license at home is higher than the fine for not having a license at all. Isn't the government wonderful?

If you know where you can get a stable 10% return on investment, please, please, do tell. I think 5% would be more realistic. Also, if they use the interest to fund the MNR the principle will never increase. If they invested $500 now. They will get $25 in the fist year; and in year 28 they will still only get $25. If we assume 3% inflation, then in year 28 an annual license will cost over $60 a year; if they increase them by 5% a year it would be over $100 in year 28. Plus, I am sure they would find some way to make us more more in the future even if we did all have life time licenses.
-
... and to get around that problem they would come up with additional licences. Your life time license would allow you to go fishing; but you would need a separate license to keep fish, another license to fish lakes that are stocked; I'd better stop before they get any ideas. I wouldn't want to trust them on a life license either.

There are at least two types of lower end oil. Do you know if your old Johnson had electric shift? They used a different type of oil.

Are you saying that would be heating the garage and leaving the doors open for the dogs at the same time? That would be expensive.

Argo advise from those in the know...
John Bacon replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Your friends like to wear axle seals from Argo's? Some people are strange. -
I would think that pretty well all of the Chinook would have already spawned by now. Even most of the coho will have spawned by now. Could these have been salmon the washed down from the creeks during the rain? As stated earlier, they do die after they spawn. There are lot things that don't seem right about this story. Even as warm as the fall has been; I doubt the the bay's water temperatures would still be too warm for salmon. Also, at this time of year, the deeper water would not be significantly colder than the surface water; if fact, it is probably warmer. Plus, if fish die in deep water, they will usually stay at the bottom so nobody would know about the die off.

The dept is because prices were kept artificially low for many years. The repairs to the reactors would have contributed to the dept but were not the sole cause of it. The bottom line is that it was costing more to produce and supply electricity than what it was being sold for.

41 years, 2 months, and six days. Add nine months or so if I am allowed to start counting from conception. Carlsberg will do fine.

Gee, I have never heard of anyone referring to a chain or grass pickerel as walleye... is that a new trend???

Cigarette Smoking . . . . . . (Definately N. F.)
John Bacon replied to Photoz's topic in General Discussion
Where do you draw the line at withholding medical care? If smokers aren't covered for illness, should we also make skiers pay to have a broken leg fixed? They chose to go skiing. Do we also refuse to cover people with unhealthy diets; and people who don't exercise? Smokers are only one of very many examples of people who have contributed to their health issues. Getting back to the original question; I agree that smoking with children in the car should be banned. Studies have shown that second hand smoke in a car is several times more concentrated than second hand smoke in a home. An hour in the car with a smoker is probably worse than a whole day at home with the same smoker. -
I though maybe you were referring to the attempted invasion of Cuba. But Canada wasn't involved in that. ;-)
-
Yes, that was it. Thanks for your help.

Cigarette Smoking . . . . . . (Definately N. F.)

Was it a pickup truck? If so, you could have told her that she was allowed to smoke in the back half -

Or, the muskies may just disappear altogether. That is why people consider the presence of pike in a musky lake to be a bad thing. The deep spawning muskies that co-exist are a different strain than the Kawartha muskies. It is possible that the muskie may adapt to pike by spawning in deeper water. However, many of the Kawartha lakes may not have suitable deep water spawning habitat for this to occur.
