Weren't carp brought here as a food fish? They were raised here as a food fish and some escaped; that is how we ended up with carp in North America.

Actually regular air is 78% nitrogen. I guess that makes it a bigger scam than you thought. I never really believed the advantages of nitrogen since air is mostly nitrogen anyway. I never even considered the air that was already in the tire. It seems to be a bigger scam than I thought too.

Actually a lease is a form of debt. If you don't believe me, try signing a three lease with a $1 buy out and then tell them you don't want it anymore after the first month. Do you think they would simply let you return it and stop making payments? You would be obligated to make the payments for the term of the lease or pay a stiff penalty. As a matter of fact, the proper way to account for such a lease is to record the equipment as an assets and depreciate it, and set all of the payments required for the term of the lease as a liability on the balance sheet. You would still be able to deduct the payments for tax puposes because CCRA does not follow generally accepted accounting principles. Taking 30 to 60 days to pay for raw materials is also a form of debt. It is short term debt, but it is still debt.

I can honestly believe it because the group of people who told me had university degrees in science and made their living in part by maintaining a system the converted city water into something that was safe for injection. None of the members of the group stood to receive any material gain by misleading me. That is why I can honestly believe that. Yes it was more than a couple of years ago. Maybe the technology has improved to the point that a home system will be beneficial; then again, maybe it hasn't. As for how could 4 ppm be better than 250 ppm; I have more questions than answers. The main question would be ppm of what? Thare are probably thousands of different minerals, salts, organic compounds, as well as bacteria, viruses, etc. that could be present in the water before and after the filtration process. Does your company measure every single one? Maybe they selectively measure the ones that are removed by their system and ignore ones the others. There may be harmful contanimants introduced by the filtration process that are simply not measured. I also recall reading the results of tests on water published in the newspaper. The results were that tap water was the best followed by bottled water with filtered water being the worst. Again, more than a couple of years ago ... but I will continue drinking my water from the tap.
-
I used to work at a Upjohn Pharmaceuticals (now part of Phizer). The technician who maintained the water filtration system said that they would never drink filtered water. Tap water was much better. According to them, you simply cannot built a proper filtration system small enough to sell has a home kit. A unit that small would only make the water worse. Since this is what they did for a living; I beleive them when they say that tap water is better than filtered water.

Yes, they are a strain of Steelhead; and they do run in the summer. I have never caught one myself. I understand that they are slimmer than a normal steelhead and have a larger tail. Ontario has not stocked them for a few years. I believe that the US stocks some in Lake Huron.

Not at this time of the year. That water is cold! And there aren't many other boats out there to come to aid at this time of year. I would suggest getting some experience in the summer months before heading out in November.

My brother-in-law swears that he saw one on the ice on Baptiste Lake.

I saw a wild turkey (bird not human) walking along the sidewalk on Meadowvale Road this morning. It is close to the Rouge; but it is still quite surprising to see it strolling down a major road.
-
Did anybody hear of a bear sighting at the Rouge? I dropped by my parent's house today. My mother mentioned that by brother-in-law had dropped by Rouge to walk his dog. He was told to leave because a bear had been sighted. Did anybody else hear of a bear sighting? This would have been on Highway 2 at Glenn Rouge campgroud.

I assume that you have a two wheel drive truck. Do not engage four wheel drive with different size tires on the truck! I am not sure what the effect of larger wheels on the front will be for a two wheel drive vehicle. Your headlights may need to be re-aimed for the benefit of on coming drivers.

All of the studies that I have heard about state that there is no difference between the danger of hands free and hand held cell phones. If these studies are correct it doesn't make to ban helds only. Either ban talking on the cell phone or don't ban talking on the phone.

There are rechargable alkaline's. I have only seen them in AA & AAA cells. Lantern batteries (which are about 3.5x3.5" square and about about 7" tall) are 6 volts. They are often used for portable fish finders. I have never seen a rechargeable one though. If you have a 6 volt battery that is the right size. I don't think that it will matter if it's alkaline, NiCad, Lead Acid, or Lithium Ion. Six volts is 6 volts. Actually, my first choice would be Lithium Ion in terms of performance.

The royalties, excise taxes, GST, etc. along with income taxes on oil company profits pay for cost of running the country. Would you be willing to give up health care and education in order to get cheaper gas? I wouldn't. Would you prefer to pay double the current income and sales taxes to get cheaper gas? Yes, we could have cheaper gas if oil was not subject to a free market system. But the cheap gas will not come without consequences.

In southern Ontario fish tend to move up river during rains. The visability during a rain in the rivers during a rain is usually very poor. Once the river clears up, the fish are no longer moving. I am not sure how effective a fishcam would be in southern Ontario.

Question for the police officers on the board (NF)
John Bacon replied to timmeh's topic in General Discussion
Actually I do recall the Toronto Star publishing international rankings for accidents per kilometre of driving. It showed Germany as having more accidents per kimometre than Canada. This was back in mid nineties; the rankngs may have changed since then. -
The fall of 2007 would have been the last run from MNR stocked fish. Metro East Anglers did collect eggs from the 2007 run for stocking, so hopefully we can get some better runs in the future. We do hope to collect eggs this year as well. The lack of a fin clipping does not indicate that it is not a stocked fish. 2008 is the first year that all stocked fish are being fin clipped. I am not aware of any coho's being clipped in previous years. In past years, the Chinooks involved in pen rearing projects were clipped. However, the majority or Chinooks stocked in previous years were unclipped. Your fish may have been been a stray from the U.S. (who still stock cohos), an Ontario stocked fish that spent an extra year in the lake, or a naturally reproduced fish. I believe that all Ontario stocking was in the Credit; however, I am not sure about that.
-
Highland Creek and Whitby Harbour are both stocked with Chinook salmon. I wouldn't assume that fish from the eastern GTA are either natural or strays from the USA. There are plenty hatchery fish out here. We should have a much better idea of how much natural reproduction is occuring on Lake Ontario over the next few years. Starting with the stocking in the spring of 2008, all hatchery fish will have their adipose fins clipped. It will be interesting to see how many unclipped fish are caught three or four years from now.

What happens when the gas drops in price? Would he be expected to continue to maintain the higher price because he bought it at the higher price? What if a gas station across the street just filled up with the new cheaper gas and was passing the savings on to the customers? He would either have to sell his expensive gas at a discount (possibly at a loss) or close his station until the price rose again. Nobody is going to buy his gas if he is charging more than the guy across the street. If you were an owner who had filled up on day one at 50 cents a litre while the station across the street had filled up on day two at 55 cents a litre. Suppose that it is now day three and gas is selling for 60 cents a litre. Would you price your gas 5 cents a litre below the station across the street knowing that you will run out of gas and have to re-fill at 60 cents a litre and then have to choose between selling at a loss or pricing your gas 5 cents a litre more than the station across the street. How much gas do you think you would sell if your price was 5 cents a litre more than the station across the street? What do you if the price is back down to 50 cents on day four and you have a full tank of 60 cent a litre gas that you bought on day three? In summary; no I do not think that it would stand to reason that they could lock their price in because they were luck enough to have filled up before the price increase.

I found it trough a line on the What's Biting in Toronto aka "Zoo Board" during its heyday back in 1999.

ADP does have a Canadian office, have tried speaking with them? Do you know which version of ADP your company uses? If it is Pay@Work then electronic copies of your paystub are available. Your employer may be able to email you a copy if they are willing.

I took a hunting course about 15 years ago but never took up the sport. If I remember correctly, the boat cannot still be in motion from the motor when they begin shooting. I.e. you cannot start shooting as soon as you cut the motor, you have to wait until the motion from the motor stops. I do not believe that they have to be anchored, drifting is okay. I don't think that it is legal to have a loaded firearm in the boat while it is under power. I am going on 15 year old memories and the laws may have changed. However, I am certain that they have broken at least one and probably more laws.

Speaking for myself; I find it very difficult not to see a difference. If someone is transporting fish shortly after teh season closes, there is a high likelyhood that the fish were caught during the season; especially if the person is returning from trip that began prior to the close. Contrast that with a person returning from a trip before the season opens. Is he going to say that he caught them last and took them up to the lodge and is now bringing them back hope? Good luck convincing the CO. As for being unable to prove that fish being transported out of season were caught during the open season; how is that different then transporting during the open season? You still cannot prove that they were caught during open season, they may have been caught before the season opened; especially if it is early in the season.
-
You don't have to prove it. It would be up to the crown to prove that you did catch them after the season closed. Remember, you are innocent until proven guilty.
