  1. Don't you have to be fishing through the ice to use two lines?
  2. Did you mean 20th week? If not, than what is the 20th month of 2004?
  3. If you want to mount a gas motor on the side then consider an outrigger for the canoe.
  4. I am not familiar with the brand, but I would expect that a $3,000 inflatable would be pretty durable.
  5. When I used to store my boat in my yard for the winter I would remove all ropes including rope for the winch. Teh boat was sitting on the trailer with nothing holding it down. If someone wanted to tow it away they would have had to take the time to tie it down before making their get away. They want to get in and out as fast as they can; every little bit helps. My boat was already more than 10 years old so it wouldn't likely attract the professional thieves.
  6. Do you have a quick release braket for a bow mount motor? If so, you could attach it there as long as you don't to bring both the barbeque and the bow mount.
  7. I support the reduction for steelhead/rainbow; but I wouldn't support a similar reduciton for Chinook. Chinook are managed as a put and take fishery. Most of the stocking is directly into the lake or into rivers where they do not have a chance to reproduce. Stocking levels are set to keep the population as high as the bait fish population can sustain. If more fish were kept than stocking levels could be increased. I don't think think it makes much sense to prevent fishermen from harvesting Chinook.
  8. Is this the Holiday DLX? If so can you mount them to the decking in the back corners at the stern instead of on the gunwhales? I ran a plank across the whole width of the boat so that I could mount downriggers. It would be overkill for just downriggers but it would work.
  9. Yes, Americans measure their alcohol content by weight while we measure it by volume. They will get a lower figure (alcohol is lighter than water) for the same amount of alcohol. I can't answer about quality either ;-)
  10. OFAH did pay the rent on the hatchery for five years and spent money improving the wells. Yes, they didn't do everything they way MEA would have liked but let's not lose sight of the fact that they have provided significant funds towards the hatchery over the last five years. The Sportsman Show has also provided funding to the hatchery. I am not sure of the exact figure provided to the hatchery but I believe they have made over $35 million in donations to various causes since the beginning of the show.
  11. Have you considered a small gas motor? My 2.5 hp is much lighter than a battery.
  12. Which model of Princecraft do you own? I have had my Holiday DLX Side Consol on Lake Ontario and felt safe. Obviously you won't want to be out there on a really windy day. Are you looking at renting a house? If you rent a house in an older part of Etobicoke it may have room for a boat. It may technically against the by-laws to store it but if nobody complains you will be fine. Most people don't bother complaining, but it only takes one to screw up your plans.
  13. What exactly has to be less than 5.2m? My boat is less then 5.2m; my boat and motor combined are probably over 5.2m; the entire rig from back of the motor to front of the trailer is definitely over 5.2 metres. I haven't had any complaints so far but I would like to know where I stand if an issue comes up.
  14. I have see coyotes along the 401 at Victoria Park and another a Neilson. These two were seen in broad day light during rush hour trafic on the busiest stretch of highway in the world. I am not sure if a contest is going to work when culling appearently doesn't (as per the minister in the original post).
  15. Charlie was installing a new door and found that one of the hinges was missing. He asked his wife, Mary, if she would go to the hardware store and pick up a hinge. Mary agreed to go. While she was waiting for the nice young man to finish serving a customer, her eye caught a beautiful bathroom vanity faucet set. When the man finished with the other customer, Mary asked him, "How much is that vanity set?" The young assistant manager replied, "That's a gold plated set and the price is $900.00." "My goodness," Mary exclaimed, "that is very expensive. It's certainly out of my price bracket." She then proceeded to describe the hinge that Charlie had sent her to buy. The manager said that he had them in stock and went into the storeroom to get one. From the storeroom he yelled, "Lady, do you wanna screw fo the hinge?" Mary paused for a moment and then shouted back, "No, but I will for the vanity set." This is why you should never send a woman to the hardware store!
  16. You could always match it up with me.
  17. Were those Atlantics or Chinook that you were raising? The Chinooks at Ringwood start feeding in water that is probably about 20" deep. Atlantics far more fragile (I think this may have more to do with the poor strain than the species). Atlantics are also more temperature sensitive may need warmer water to trigger feeding.
  18. That is consistant with the symptoms of vitamin B deficiency. However, we usually only lose 10-15% a year. A 100% die off is more likely to be related to water quality. I would follow the previous suggestions and get your water tested. Sorry to hear about the loss of your fish. I hope the second batch works out better. I think it's great that you are getting the kids involved.
  19. Had the salmon started actively feeding prior to them dying? If not they may have had a vitamin B deficiency.
  20. Well he did try. With a minority government he needs support from at least some members of the other parties. A few NDP members supported him and made the vote close but not quite good enough.
  21. Some information on the closing of Ringwood Hatchery. http://www.yorkregion.com/sports/article/935755--ringwood-fish-hatchery-closing
  22. Use a board similar to Ten90's setup but run near the cleats at the front of the boat. You won't be able to use bow pedestal seat while rigging but the board can be removed for shallow water fishing. My Cannon owners manual actually recommends mounting the riggers at the front of the boat. Alternatively, I think they do make transom mount brakets.
  23. Cojones de Toro While a tourist was sipping his tequila at a restaurant in Cabo San Lucas, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious-looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the aroma was wonderful. He asked the waiter, "Wha is that you just served?" "A, senor," the waiter replied, "you have excellent taste! Those are called 'Cojones de Toro', the testicles from a bull fight this morning. A delicacy!" It smelled so good, the tourist said, "What the heck, bring me an order." "I am so sorry, senor," said the waiter. "There is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early tomorrow and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy." The next morning, the tourist returned, and placed his order. That evening he was served the one and special delicacy of the day. After a few bites and inspecting his platter, he called the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the one I saw you serve yesterday." The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si, Senor. Sometimes the bull wins."
  24. Yes, Excel does say that... Excel is wrong.
  25. Sheep Fries There was once a sheep farmer who needed help with the difficult task of castrating some of his inferior male sheep to keep them from breeding with the females. He hired a French guy who didn't speak much English, but was a very good worker. After the first day, they had successfully castrated 14 sheep and his French worker was just about to throw away the "parts", but the sheep farmer yelled, "No! Don't throw those away! My wife fries them up and we eat them. They're delicious, and we call them 'sheep fries'." Later that day, the French hired hand came in for supper and, indeed, the "sheep fries" were tasty. The next day, they castrated 16 sheep, and that evening they all settled down to another supper of "sheep fries". The third day, however, when the sheep farmer came home, he asked his wife where the French hired hand was. "You know, it's the weirdest thing," she said. "I told him since there weren't very many 'sheep fries' this evening, we were also going to have French fries, and he ran like hell!"
