I used an insulated soft sided lunch bag. The best part about it... when it is in the truck, people think it is just a lunch bag and less reason to break in to the truck. Foam dividers are easily made to make a snug fit for your lenses and such as well. Cheers, Ron...

Did ya hear bout the husband wife? They both go to bed and the hubby gives her the ol "leg over". Wife says: "Not tonight dear, I have an appointment with my gynecologist in the morning and I want to be fresh". The hubby roles back onto his side of the bed and ponders the situation. Several minutes later the hubby gives the ol leg over once again and asks: "You don't have a Dentist appointment too do you?"

Yup this is true. The new regs also include a harvestable slot on Walleye, extended seasons on Bass and Muskie, along with a minimum size increase to 44 inches. A limit on Perch as well (50). 30 Crappie and your right, a limit of 300 per person with only 30 over 7 inches on Sunfish. Too bad he isn't coming back with the new regs, he is going to miss out on some excellent fishing. Tell your buddy he can read up on the regs here:Zone 17 regulations (save as PDF) Cheers, Ron...

Sounds like you boys had an awesome day smelting! Good on ya's, now if I could only find out where to catch these morsals in my neck of the woods..... Cheers, Ron... -
Glad to see the Panfish Festival went so well and also glad to have been a part of it. The kids had a FANTASTIC day! To see the look on their faces when they saw the hundreds of Perch, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed and 3 Muskie on the underwater camera was an experience in itself for the dozens of kids who frequented my hut. I think the winner of all the kids was the young lad by the name of Tyler, he and his teacher was in my portable ice hut when the 40" plus Muskie decided to scare all the Perch we were catching! This young kid was fantastic, he hugged and kissed every Perch we caught, he even got his teacher to give one a kiss! Surely a great for all of us to remember! Thanks for letting us be a part of it Mike. Cheers, Ron...

My 09 Tundra was in for an oil change last Friday. In and out in less than an hour with the update done. They didn't wash the truck though as it was already cleaned on the outside. So they vacuumed the inside instead! This was done at Vandemeer Toyota in Cobourg. I bought the truck at Clairington Toyota. I am one happy camper for the service you get with Toyota. Definitely this is what was missing with Ford.

One of the local lakes I fish in the Haliburtains (The name slips my memory at the moment), has a healthy population of Smelt as well. We fish in 50 - 60 fow for white fish and lake trout yet with the fish finder when you see a fish up high >17ft, it's usually a walleye. Ironically the walleye are suspended in this lake in the winter months as that is where the baitfish population is.

Well that sucks Mike! Let me know if you want me to keep your wife warm.

Holy crap, when did I change my name to Grimace??? Actually you had me, right down to owning a Tundra and still loving Ford, even down to the inlaws owning GM! The part that I didn't agree with.... Not wanting to be a member of a club. I am sitting on the fence on this one. Miss the boyz, not the politics. So now I renewed a membership to an old club I was active in a number of years ago. Perhaps you might know it, free membership, lots of free stuff to be won. Always upgrades and the best of it is: YOU CAN VENT ABOUT ANYTHING YOU WANT! I have been around this club I speak of for many many years and have made my voice being heard about 2149 times. I have met many many decent people in this club and have also received much useful information towards my fishing, driving, boating, dry walling, electrical, plumbing and what ever else you may want to know about. Actually, I think YOU ARE a member of the same club. Cheers, Ron...

Hello all, For anyone who is fishing in FMZ 17 (Kawartha Lakes), please take the time to fill out the following survey. Cheers, Ron... Folks, I just wanted to provide a quick update on some initiatives we are working on to collect information associated with the winter fishery. The Kawartha Lakes Fisheries Assessment Unit have implemented an aerial creel program that is collecting information on a number of lakes across the zone. This is allowing us to get counts of anglers and ice huts which will allow us to assess the use of the new opportunities. This will continue throughout the rest of the season. In addition, the FAU and the District are working on conducting some 'on-ice' angler creels, which involves interviewing anglers about their fishing trips. We're trying to cover as many lakes as possible and will continue to do this throughout the remainder of the season. The part that may be of most interest to you is a voluntary angler diary program we have set up, which is accessible on-line (www.fmz17survey.ca). We are hoping that anglers (yourselves included) will provide information on their angling activities. This is a pilot project and it will be interesting to see how much feedback we are able to get. I'd appreciate if you would distribute the link and encourage anglers to complete the survey after each of their trips. It should only take 5 minutes or less to complete the survey and it will be interesting to see what information that provides for us. All information, including unsuccessful trips and information on incidental catches, is important.

It would have been worth loosing the camera to see it happen! PS: I think you out did yourself on those 2 Chris.... now back to those 3 inchers I was talking about....

Looking forward to enjoying the day up there. I will be busy with this on Saturday: My friend Mike needs all the help he can get (His wife made me say that). It will be a great day and hopefully Mike has a great turnout for what we hope will be an anual event. This has got to be the best way to get kids interested in fishing. So, if you can't make it to the Spring Fishing Show on Saturday, be sure to bring your whole family along to this event. For those of you going to the Spring Fishing Show on Sunday, I will see you there! Hope to see Pete Maina and Jim Saric seminar. I'm just not too sure when they have the stage. I know, I know, better say Dave Mercer too, gheesh! ha ha ha Looking forward to picking on Big Jim too!
