  1. If you live in an apartment or know someone who does, tie a 1/2oz weight on the end of line, go out on the balcony and open your bail. Let it stand for about 5 minutes and then slowly retrieve. You figure the line twist will only be in the first 20 ft, 30 max as that is the depth you were fishing. Cheers, Ron...
  2. Do I need my tow strap this year Wayne? ha ha ha
  3. Too funny Wayne!
  4. Just wanted to let everyone know about how the service was up at Lowrance office in Mississauga. I was having issues with one of my X135's and made arrangements to go to head office and got them to look at my finders. I explained to him how I use them for ice fishing and he told me to bring the whole setup for him to see. He was impressed to say the least with the setup I had made. Upon listening to what problems I had with the units (I brought both up), he checked the transducer and sure enough, it was "fried". So here I am, in the midst of purchasing a new transducer. I hesitated and also mentioned to him about how my one unit seems to act up every so often as the auto sensitivity locks on. He takes it out back to do some updates on it, come back and says, sorry can't do updates on this unit, did I want to upgrade to a newer unit? Hmmm this is gonna cost me large I figured. Well for 500.00 upgrade I am now the proud owner of the new HDS5! Starts off with a full 2 yr warrenty, including everything in the box. Now how can a person go wrong with that! Thanks Lowrance, I can guarentee you I will be a long time repeat customer! Cheers, Ron...
  5. Awesome trip you guys had anders! There was a time when I would have been chomping at the bit to do a trek like that. Now, with being so much out of shape, I look forward to reading posts like this and enjoy what I can by sled. Cheers, Ron...
  6. Great ideas for teh rod holders. Now what I use to use for minnows is an old insulated 1 litre water jug. I picked it at our local Reuseit store. Works great.
  7. It's all coming together now..... I understand why you don't catch fish through the ice now! ha ha ha
  8. Unbelievable! Here's to many many years to come! Cheers, Ron...
  9. I have met Martin Berube a few times, super nice guy
  10. I could be wrong on this too but I don't think there are floats in the carb of a 2 stroke.
  11. Hey Dave, Just saw the video... Hilarious! You really know how to draw in the chicks don't ya! ha ha ha Cheers, Ron...
  12. I always said" Be the bigger man". Good on ya for stepping up and admitting failure Dax. Ya wanna pick on someone, pick on this Dave Mercer guy, who is he anyways? Cheers, Ron...
  13. Let me know Mike, I would like to hook up with you too when your in our neck of the woods. I was actually planning on going to Rileys on either the Fri or Sat night for a good ol chinwag with the boyz. Cheers, Ron...
  14. Yes, we had a fantastic time out there. No Crappies were harmed by our crew of 6 but there were lots of Perch! Easily enough to keep the kids occupied. I, or should I say my daughter, tried out the new to me underwater camera and it is amazing on what you see on it. My buddy can say he caught the first Muskie of the year, another buddy caught a decent Largemouth and I could only muster up a trophy perch pushing the tape measure at 6 inches! Looking forward to spending a few more days on the hard stuff out there! It was great to see the amount of people enjoying our newly found resource in the Kawartha Lakes. Mike, thanks for getting this set up today, I think it will be a great boost to the economy to the area. I spent 30.00 at the tackle shop and another 70.00 at the gas station. That's a 100.00 more than I would have spent elsewhere! Cheers, Ron...
  15. Now that would be worth the trip in itself! ha ha ha
  16. You know, it's weird... I just picked up my phone and checked it for a dial tone.... seems alright on this end... Cheers, Ron...

  18. Now that is a great way to celebrate the New Years! Congratulations to the Blowes family! One more kid to get hooked on fishing..... gotta like it!
  19. Holy Crap! You are one of the last persons I would have expected to hear this from! I don't want to echo peoples replies above but I understand your wishes. Meaning, from my personal experience In my other fishing involvements. Now I know why I received so many email, pm's and phone calls when I stepped down. You will be missed around here. I hope you have a change in heart. I personally have enjoyed both of your post on here and am certain you will be missed.
  20. Nice truck Lew! That 5.4 will give you pulling power like you wouldn't expect. I had the 4.6 in mine, brother had 5.4 in his. I got better fuel economy but not by much. I put 350,00 on mime, sold it and now have a Toyota Tundra. Brother did the same. His 02 ford with the 5.4, motor went out of it with 290,000.
  21. Ah but that is why I invited my nephew along....
  22. Rice Lake is good and solid, no snow but good and solid! (At least where I checked).... Remember boys and girls, don't be part of the statistics...play safe and only go where you know. This was from out front of Gores Landing. Even when we were kids you had to be careful playing hockey and such around the marinas as they run bubblier systems to protect their docks from getting damage from the ice.
  23. I am going out tomorrow to drill a few test holes and to try out the camera. I will let you guys know.
