  2. Make sure the bird is thawed and fairly dry. Use a broomstick or such to drop it in slowly at first. I use a temp probe with a silicone coated wire that gives an accurate temp while in the fryer. Tried the 3min/lb but had differing results. the probe works great.
  3. They can be re-used. Just need a new co2 cartridge.
  4. Very happy with Mustang brand. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Mustang-Survival-Deluxe-Pro-Inflatable/1547482.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dmustang%2Bpfd%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts%26x%3D0%26y%3D0&Ntt=mustang+pfd&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
  5. Paint the wood with mistake paint from your local big box supply store. 1 quart will do 2 4x8 sheets. Cover with carpet or http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?path=-1|2276179|2276198|2276202&id=23708, lasts a long time.
  6. We use bottom bouncers and worm harnesses with blades.
  7. This is near the Wyandotte boat launch. http://youtu.be/Q5himSWYNvk Not as heavy on the Canadien side.
  8. Reports have been good from Peche to the bridge. The silvers are in but better on the east side.
  9. I've heard the potatoe peelers work great on Simco perch.
  10. Does anyone have a recipe for Screech? It's a Newfie aquired taste drink.
  11. Years back when there were smelt and I was in college. The local tradition was to bite the head off the first one caught. One year in the middle of a big run a guy dove in to get his smelt and came out with a fair sized steelhead. Took him quite a while to accomplish this feat and nobody told him it wasn't a smelt.
  12. A new study is underway that will result in clearer understanding of the movement patterns of walleye through the Huron-Erie corridor. There are now walleye in the system that sport reward tags. The tags are spaghetti-type tags, not the standard metal jaw tags. See the image of the poster below for more details. These posters will be showing up at bait shops and launch sites along Lake Erie, the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, the St. Clair River, and Lake Huron. - Mike Thomas, Fisheries Research Biologist, MDNR Lake St. Clair Fisheries Research Station, [email protected]
  13. Very unique fish. Fight like tires and taste like crap.
