  1. Johnie the wood guy does the same for me...cut, spring split, and dumped right near where we stack it...$250 a bush cord (up $5 from two years ago)...mostly birch and maple...also oak I think.
  2. Lit up the stove Saturday night after we got home from a house warming party at the Ports of Newcastle and kept it going all day yesterday rather than turning up the baseboards... We used to burn about 5 bush cords a year but a couple of years ago we cut back to half a bush cord a year for emergency and/or recreation fires as my wife's asthma came back after being six years free... It is just as well as my legs and back can' take the lugging involved...I still chop my own kindling on a big stump I have in the garage...
  3. Oh Mike !!!...That is priceless !!!...I nearly split a gut from laughing...
  4. If it is the same stuff I got from Cliff a couple of years ago, I give it a I used it mainly on cat and dog urine mishaps...first I sopped up as much as I could with some paper toweling, sprayed the area with a bit of shaving foam and worked it in with a wet paper towel then sprayed the area with Cliff's concoction, then let it dry... Voila !!!...no odour A quick spray in the bathroom air helps get rid of odifourus smells also...
  5. WOW !!!...nothing like hearing the sound of the alarm to get the adrenalin flowing... Neat video...
  6. I'm still waiting to try Bush's beans...maybe ValueMart will have them if Loblaw's is carrying them...going to be a hard sell to get me to switch from Clark's beans... Always considered Clark's the Cadillac of beans...
  7. FYI...I believe Crappy Tire sells those gas lines... Nice ride !!!
  8. Nice to see a report from a fellow carper... Great lookin' fish cleaner...!!!
  9. You would probably like these two water colors and painting by a friend of ours Ruth Mudge...the water colors were a wedding gift and I purchased the painting as it reminded me of our old barn at Lake Scugog where I spent my boyhood summers... I like your painting Bushart...well done...
  10. Hmmmmm...salmon flavoured asparagus...a whole new taste treat... I stopped by last Sunday but Debbe said you were sleeping...didn't want to disturb you...I know how you need your beauty rest...
  11. You are such a tough-lookin' old bird Lew, maybe people are afraid to low-ball you... Of course, after they get to know you...they realize what a softie you are...
  12. Only ever fished for salmon once with Big Cliff and Photoz...reminded me of carp fishing... We used a sliding sinker above a swivel then attached a three foot fluro leader with a #6 hook and a roe bag...all three of us hooked a salmon but none were landed... This is also how we fished off Daytona Pier in Florida only we baited with shrimp...
  13. AMEN to that...like candy to the fishes...
  14. So far this year has been a not so good one...Cold spring kinda put a kibosh on the crappy fishing and the carp afterwards was a bust at the point this year...I think CPH caught the only one there...My back and legs have been giving me a lot of grief so never got the Tin of Beans in the water but I doubt I would have used it much during those real hot summer days...the only luck I had was at my friend Ron's swims for carp...best day I hooked five and landed two and the day there with Meely, Zen, and Maribeth we hooked four and landed two...Yesterday I was skunked for the first time since last June but I got to be net man for a new chap who has netted most of mine the past six weeks so I guess that is fair...The nice part about fishing at Ron's is parking beside the river and not having to cart all our gear for a long distance...too bad it isn't closer to Bobcaygeon (50 kms)...I usually fish there when I have another excuse that takes me to P'boro like yesterday's doctor appointment... Not sure if this was a PB as the picture does not show how thick it was across the shoulders...
  15. Heard this while watching a UK fishing video... "Fishing"...an excuse for being there... You can have it if'n you so choose...
  16. My first wife used to say "He would rather fish than (ahem) make love" ! I figured that you can always (ahem) "make love" but you can't always go fishing...
  17. I was at home watching the TV and thought a movie had come on the channel I was watching...It took a few moments for it to sink in that this was no movie...couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing...stayed glued to the TV the rest of that day...
  18. Congrats to your bro for catching a Lake Simcoe Mountain Trout...
  19. Long Sault causeway...The Carp Capital of the world...
  20. Ask Norm to point out Gordon's Rocks to you...you can see them from shore... Fish on the west side of them out about 30 feet and cast towards the lodge...should be a few bass hanging around and the odd shoal carp (musky)... Then try over by the islands near Big Island or by Hurricane Point if the water isn't too rough... I'd be out there myself but the "Tin of Beans" is still in drydock...
  21. Jitterbug tubes senkos lipless crankbaits Fin-S minnows or Gulp All work well just north of there...
