  1. Good stuff. Do you prefer the taste of the early-season syrup more than the later-season stuff? I checked my two buckets after the two days of 0 and +2, and nothing had collected.
  2. Good stuff guys! Those ling are dark compared to the green-ish ones we see on Nipissing. Can't believe you blew through a tank of gas looking for fish hahaha.
  3. The slush was garbage. The fishing was garbage. Luckily the weather was nice.
  4. My good friend is a mechanic at Hyundai. After the stories I've heard...I'd stay clear of that brand! People seem to like them and the price, but when you hear a Hyundai mechanic say he will only drive Toyota and Honda, it's a good indication of where not to buy. I wouldn't recommend any used Jeep under $15,000 for your wife. The only good jeeps at that price are the Wranglers/YJ/TJ's but they are not comfortable vehicles!
  5. Great report. That video has some killer fish
  6. Rav-4 or the Soob are good vehicles based on my anecdotal evidence and reading . Don't get the Nissan. Agreed with whoever said the forester and the new Rav are UGLY. My dad has an older equinox and its a terrible vehicle.
  7. That's even big for a bear.
  8. Going to pluses tomorrow apparently, maybe my two lonely buckets will produce a bit of sweet water
  9. I'll be particularily interested in your adventures in maple syrup since I'm kind of starting this year but really preparing for the next. I hand drilled two taps into one tree tonight. I'll put out 10 buckets this year. What would it be like boiling less than 40L on a propane kitchen stove? Would my entire kitchen turn out sticky?
  10. Awesome. That is turning out to be a sweet spot. Crap that ice is thick!
  11. I just got gifted a few kilometers of tubing, spigots, unions and other accessories. Buddy used to make 45 gallons per year. It's all coiled up and waiting for me to pick up the gear....I tried, but lots of it is burried in the snow so I'll wait for the spring. I'm not really starting any Maple Syrup until next year anyway. A good start! I might get some buckets today and just tap a few trees for fun this year, to boil on my stove top.
  12. Those newspaper articles are terrible and way too censored. I'm really confused about this whole situation, but as the article fails to mention, the Natives play a HUGE role in this mess of a story. Isn't the Nugget owned by the Sun, since when are they worried about being a bit political?
  13. Strombo not pulease. I may completely ignore NHL after this turnover...my interest is already waning.
  14. Ok, that would be hilarious!
  15. I hear you Joey. My wife is pregnant and commutes daily so I'm especially sensitive to her driving and to others driving around her. Since I live in dead-center redneck-ville, there are some stoooopid people who drive the same roads as her.. one of my to-do items today is to confront one of the drivers who was driving 70 on the highway and didn't like that my wife passed him so he her rode her butt for 5 mins at 90 and then passed her and did 110 the rest of the way. He's getting a piece of my mind today I'll tell you.
  16. Exactly. I call Ruffed Grouse bush chickens. Am I wrong, am I wrong?? Are you gonna argue with me while I'm holding a gun?
  17. had to watch it a couple times. Kind of like Dan said, I drive northern highways a lot so it's particularily distressing.
  18. It's in Evain, on the west side of hwy 101 before you get into Rouyn. Did some searching: It's called Chez Gibb (Crevier Gas Station) 25, rue principale, Évain, Québec, (819) 768-2954
  19. 18 years is a good long life for a dog. Looks like he enjoyed those years together as much as you did.
  20. There are some good and some horrible stout brews in Quebec. I once in a while visit a Crevier depaneur just south of Rouyn-Noranda that has a mind blowing selection of beers you've likely never heard of. Edit:spelled beer as beef
  21. In Tip-up town, they call that Tipping-down.
  22. He was probably warning his buddy's about open liquor or other menial substances. I.E. Don't leave your 6 pack out they may visit you. Unless I'm judging Chris wrong and he was saying : Dump your 2 dozen lake trout quick, QUICK! In which instance, bad Chris, bad.
  23. They say not to pat the dogs because any foreign scents (perfumes etc) can screw up their noses. They told my Dad that last week.
  24. Looks like March break with those short sleaves in the open!
