Not sure of the size Lew but I found the plastic prop wrenches to be great. Just leave in glove box, they are light and being made of plastic they don't break everything they hit against. They are colour coded, I know yellow fits the new Yamaha's. I think they are about $15-$20 at the dealer.

Thanks for the edit on the name of Rockeys tackle. He does have great service. I thought I should mention that he will do the repairs but as your a little far away shipping might be an option.

Just as a side note to your post, I too am like Lew and on a newer motor use OEM products. I have a new Yamaha 4 stroke and my local service dealer told me he would use Yamaha fluids except for the gear case lube. He said the Yamaha lube is just a standard type oil and recommended using Mercury gear lube as it was a semi- synthetic and in his opinion a superior product.

I bought an Eagle Fishstrike 2000 and love it. This is my first colour unit and I don't think I will ever go back.

If you can do the repairs yourself Rockies bait in Orillia (I think thats the name) is great to deal with and he will ship the parts.

I had one dive at my spoon running just below the surface 2 years ago, I seen him coming and tried to get it by him but caught his leg. As has been said one hell of a fight. Brought the bird to boat side and luckily removed the hook very easily. My wife was screaming and me and my son were laughing.

I think I am going to do that with the quick release type of connector but at times I may want to steer from the tiller handle. It can be done it's just a little bit stiffer to steer when you elevate the handle.

Mine came from the dealer on the inside and I thought it looked a little cleaner that way so I left it. Have not had any problems yet. I have a bow rider so it takes about 5 seconds to open the large screw type plastic cover and pop it in or out. I always carry a spare in the glove box. If putting it in from the outside make sure which hole it goes in. I know one guy who has put it in the drain for his livewell twice, boat fills up with water pretty fast when you make that mistake. (no it wasn't me, Thank god).

If it's any thing like all the other Legend ads they will advertise it for a great price but way under powered.

I am in the process of trying to install my new kicker motor. When I position the motor (8HP Yamaha) on the left hand side of my main motor the tiller handle hits the left hand interior on the boat, in order to make a sharp right using the kicker I would have to elevate the handle on it's pivot. Is this normal? For info the tiller handle is on the left side of the kicker(looking from the back of the motor) and I cannot locate the kicker on the right side of the boat as this is where my swim platform is located.

Don't know much about the Fenwick rods but I will second Doug's response. For a medium price range rod the Quantum's are great.

The boat show had the same set up as you were talking about except it is a 175 Merc. The new Mercs seem to be pretty good but personally I would stick with Yamaha. When I bought my 115 last year Yamaha was a few hundred cheaper than Merc.

As landlocked said with Premier marine all boat motor and contents including all my fishing gear is covered under one policy if it were to get stolen, that way I don't have to deal with my house insurance.

Make sure you are covered 12 months of the year, some policies only cover boats for the warm months. I have a stand alone policy with premier marine insurance. Boat motor trailer package worth about $30000 cost me about $600 per year. That is a replacement value policy as the boat is only 1 year old.

I had a 40 Force and depending on the year you can get parts. There electrics were very bad for crapping out and there not cheap. The newer models made by Merc have Merc electrics but they still give some hassles. The older models with Chrysler electrics are getting very hard to find parts for. My motor (Merc style) had electrical troubles and in order to fix I had to change the CDI box which was an update and meant you had to change the coil as well, cost about $800 by the time I was done. They wouldn't be my first choice unless the price was right.

It must say Canada Coast Guard approved to be legal in Canada. From the little I know about the auto type PFD's I believe they are not considered legal unless you wear them at all times, they cannot just sit beside you.

I believe there are dehumidifiers that have a direct drain option. You can run a hose directly from them to the outside, as long as you are not trying to push uphill.

I have a Yamaha and love it, but I almost went ETEC because of that wrranty. The new Mercs are not made by Yamaha. Yamaha made some components( I believe the power head) for Merc but that ended right after Mercury tried to sue Yamaha for undercutting the market.
