  1. Hey Cliff - we were 3 km out off Beaverton last Thursday. There was 11" of solid ice where we fished. I saw lottsa reports in the last 2 days & saw the pix where guys were riding their atvs, water splashing all around them!
  2. I love your report Nick. The pix are awesome! Especially the 1 where you are baiting their hooks. Peeping snowman is hilarious!
  3. Good info here. Thanx. I've been favoring the Arctic Armour on another post. But I'm the guy who wants to try it before buying it. Where would I find a retailer for Salus comfort lite 1400 or the Odessy model. Do you know the price of the 1400?
  4. Don't get me wrong guys. I love the Rapala lures. I just have so many of them in my arsenal, I've decided to cut back on purchasing lures. I will continue using what I have until such time I change my mind! LOL!
  5. Thanx for your help guys especially Old Rusty Ironmaker for making a couple phone calls. He has lottsa spare time on his hands. I'm glad I read your replies again as I noticed I have the make of the suit incorrect. I originally inquired about the "Ice Armour" suit. Incorrect!! I should have stated "ARCTIC ARMOUR". I'm glad Brian B. pointed out that the Ice Armour is not a floater suit. I have an HJC floater suit that is not a survival suit. It is definitely a survival suit I wish to have. Thanx guys
  6. Way too political for me! If Justin uses a spinning outfit! Hilarious. I only use spinning reels, cause bait casters have a precarious way of bird nesting all by themselves!
  7. Very good Dave. Thanx for posting this info. Ironmaker - I only use Shell V power in my outdoor toys as well as my lawnmower, weed eater, chain saw etc. Shell V power has NO ethanol. I have been using Shell V power for many years & my gas powered equipment has always performed well. The other thing you want to do is always use fresh gasoline. If your gas is going to be in your boat tank, sitting idle during the storage season make sure you add gasoline stabilizer to the tank.
  8. PM Tayzak 15. He lives there & contributes to this forum.
  9. Sinker & others going out today. We'll be in Beaverton Wednesday & Thursday. My partner booked with Stewarts huts but it was a toss up between Hales & Stewarts. I hear they are both on good fishing grounds.
  10. Good article Fish Farmer. Amazing that it lead to what is Bombardier today. (If it's the same person). Hales huts have several of them. They are hot rods! In the early 60s as a youngster I remember them on Simcoe. We're chasing the jumbos today with Stewarts Huts. Maybe next trip we'll book with Hales & get to ride in one.
  11. OK Mr. Ironmaker, You can google on! I'll be busy hooking into some jumbos today & tomorrow, so if you wish check Fishing World for me. Ice Armour Pro 2 piece is the suit I wanna look at. $360.00 in USD, plus, plus as I stated earlier. Ask if they have XL, or is it special order? Thanx
  12. Thanx Bondar for the info where to purchase one. I'll call fishing world. As stated in my original post - they are not coast guard approved. On the ice they are OK, while in my boat early spring or late fall they represent peace of mind. As also stated I have several PFDs on board. I read great reviews about the Arctic Armour Pro suit with the pit zips, & 3 layers of insulation, & very pliable, comfortable more favourable features. Terry - You got it right - I fished with him a couple times & he still confoozes me! What's his point? I dunno!! He's a "very old" Ironmaker. Just let him type! LOL! I saw the site from Pro fishing world, but with the exchange rate on the loonie - probably not a good move. I favour the 2 piece, the jacket is $179. US & the bibs are the same $179.00. So $360. Seems like a fair price. But US $$, shipping, brokerage fees, duty - it will get expensive.
  13. I'm searching for a new survival suit. My present buoy o buoy is rather stiff & cumbersome to manoeuver. I've read good reports about the ice armour pro suit. It's toasty warm, softer & more pliable according to reports. It is not coast guard approved, but I always have several PFDs in my boat while on the soft water. Does any one know where I can purchase 1 in southern Ontario? I'm in Niagara, but travel to Simcoe quite often. So the Barrie area is feasible. I can purchase in the US on line but the value of the loonie is a negative. Thanx for your help.
  14. I had the pleasure of meeting an older fella at a lake west of Sudbury 2 years ago. The old gent had fished this lake for 50 years! He was 82 at the time. I went to have a look at his boat. He had 3 older fibreglass rods, paired with 3 Mitchell 300 reels. He also had the original floating rapala in black/gold & silver/black rigged up to each rod. You know what! He came in with 3 or 4 nice walleye every evening. I also used the original rapalas for many years as a teen ager. Today they are in my tackle bag when on the soft water. I'll remind you of my original post. "Lures are designed to catch fishermen"!!
  15. Not a good start to the new year! First you go swimming in January, now in February you break your foot just before Valentine's day. What have you got planned for March? HAHA!
  16. You funny guys got too much time on your hands! LOL!
  17. OK everybody should take a deep breath - inhale, pause, exhale! It is not right to call someone an idiot because they made a wrong decision. My personal opinion is - my condolences to the family & friends of this person. Think before you type.
  18. My thoughts & prayers for you & your family. I sincerely hope you get to see him.
  19. Lures are designed to catch fishermen! LOL! I'm living proof. U wanna see hordes of lures - come to my house!!
  20. I also need assistance. So to confirm your instructions. Would I want to do this? Would I "open a new folder" on my desktop (I am familiar with this procedure), then click & drag my desired photos into the new folder. Then upload that new folder to Photo Bucket? Thanx
  21. Nice offer Mitch. U da man! I have an airtight stove in the basement level family room - love it!. I often thought about installing 1 in my garage.
  22. Lottsa good info here guys! Thanx. Now you got me thinking about looking into the benefit plan I have through the Operating Engineers Union I belong to, as I approach retirement. No, I'm not an engineer, Crane operator, technically termed Hoisting Engineer.
