  1. Good one Jigger! I'll pay for mudding as well. When mudding, I apply 1, 5 gallon pail & end up sanding off most of it! Then pay to have the furnace & ducts cleaned. They have a new mud product which reduces the sanding time, I'm going to investigate. Then again it probably depends who is applying the mud! LOL!
  2. Awesome job Tayzak. Down only 5'! Surprising they were that shallow, water must have been cold. I started using in line boards last summer on Erie. It definitely improved our hook ups.
  3. Sorry to hear the bad news. Reflect on the good times you had with your buddy. It hurts a lot but you did the right thing.
  4. Thanx again Art. Now I'm rethinking my installation. I'm not too sure what you mean by "we could feed 2 on the left & 2 on the right side of the Tee?? Would this be a 3/4" to 3/4" Tee, (three 3/4" outlets) then a 1/2" tee after that?? would you be able to supply a sketch? Thanx Jigger - I'm going to take a closer look at those fittings. Proper water flow & constant temperature is what I desire. If I have to change the work I did Thursday - no biggie! It's only 11' of cold & 11' of hot line to remove then install 3/4". I purchased 30' of 1/2" Pex - $9.00? Cheap lesson learned. I'm not sure of the manifold set up you are suggesting?
  5. Hey Dave - Cut a similar piece of plastic a little larger than the hole. Use rivets to hold it in place, then apply a quality silicone to seal the edges. If the plastic is different colors you can name it "Patches" LOL! I have installed a 1/4" thick piece of aluminum across the front of my plastic sled to save wear & tear such as ice chunks. I purchased it from a steel fab shop, who in turn bent in on a roller to fit the profile of my sled. Works great!
  6. I'm warning you now that Horwood, Chapleau area is on my bucket list! It states in the board rules "you are liable for other members drooling on their keyboard" LOL! Awesome walleyes, thanx for posting. Funny, I was just thinking the other day "where's Tayzak"??, I haven't seen any posts for quite a while.
  7. Thanx for the nice story. RIP Grandpa
  8. Thanx Art. I appreciate your input, I'm still attempting to decipher it!! LOL! If I understand it correctly perhaps I should have used 3/4" to the bathroom, then use a "T" (3/4" to 1/2"). 1/2" to feed the sink, 1/2" to feed the shower, 1/2" to feed toilet?? Am I close?
  9. I know this is off topic. I have a Fran Betters custom made fly rod 2 - 3 weight, paired with an Elite reel. Fran Betters was a well known fly fisherman from Wilmington New York who had a shop on the shores of the Ausable River. I've only used it a few times, been in storage over 20 years. What's it worth? I paid over $600.00 US funds. Thanx PM me please
  10. Thanx guys. I completed the job earlier today decided to use the 1/2" Pex. Nice material to work with. ID of the pex is 3/8", which is the same as the supply lines to my fixtures.
  11. Probably a little heavy on fuel consumption for trolling walleye on Erie!
  12. I'm happy they found the items & the rightful owners will be able to claim their goods. As for the scum that stole the property I really hope the judge slaps them with a stiff sentence to show other criminals that stealing other people's property is going to cost you big time! I'd like to see what the fines will be.
  13. Good info here. Thanx guys. I'll go further to explain my existing conditions. I have a water softener. Presently 3/4" copper from the street to the valves which controls my softener. After these 2 valves it's 1/2" copper supply to the hot water tank. The ceiling joists are wide open - so, easy access. That's one of the other reasons to do the change at this time. Gerritt - Yes I would probably install 3/4" right from the softener shut off valves, until I read Ironmakers post about the 3/8" fittings of the fixtures. Fisherman - Shark bite fittings are awesome! Very expensive! I have used them in extremely tight areas. Old Ironmaker- Good point about the 3/8" supply lines found on most sink, toilet & shower fixtures. So it sounds like 3/4" lines is a moot point as stated by Gerritt. Now this gets confusing. When I installed my underground lawn sprinkler system I was able to use more heads per zone by using 3/4" plastic pipe than if I were to use 1/2" due to more water flow, but as Gerrit stated it increases the water flow, NOT pressure.
  14. Happy birthday big guy! Although I might be a day late. Party at Cliff's tonight!! Woo Hoo!
  15. Hopefully we have a plumber or 2 on board. I'm renovating my basement laundry room. Presently I have 1/2" copper feeding my gas fired hot water tank & 1/2" out to feed the rest of the house. The 2 pipes are in the way of a new wall I want to frame, so, I'd like to relocate them. While I'm at it I thought of increasing the size to 3/4" to have better water flow to the other fixtures, namely the new shower, toilet & sink in the lower level. What are your thoughts. Thanx I am well versed on soldering copper, & more recently changing over to Pex. I love the Pex!
  16. Hey Jimmer - thanx again for the tip. To clarify, I have the necessary paperwork in hand that states the balance owing is $0 dollars yet they are with holding her $198.00 refund. I have dialed that phone number numerous times. It's a joke. I suppose 1 day I'll have to make a trip to the CRA office in St. Catharines, & make an attempt to get it sorted out. It's the fact that you cannot reach these people that makes me angry.
  17. All in all it's a terrible situation. What really bothers me is, every where you look our major projects are purchasing materials & other goods from over seas. In Canada we have seen several large corporations close their doors. Atlas Steel in Welland, John Deere in Welland, Hayes Dana in Thorold, Stelco Steel just to name a few. Where are your grandchildren going to work? Hell, even Arcteryx clothing which is a high end outdoor clothing manufacturer has their garments now made in China. At one time they had a plant in British Columbia! Yes - their clothing was Made In Canada!
  18. What is CPAP? Thanx Go to batterystuff.com They have a very good tutorial on different types of batteries, chargers etc.
  19. I have a similar situation in regard to contacting CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) about my wife's income tax returns. I have dialed the 1-800 numbers numerous times to only get a busy signal or a message "all agents are busy assisting other customers". I finally gave up. They're with holding her refund from last year. $198.00. They state she has not filed income tax returns from previous years. I have in my possession 7 years tax returns, Notice of Assessment, & Statement of account. Statement of account shows $0 dollars owing. There are so many different offices, I'm sure 1 office doesn't know what the other is doing! Today I'm going to contact my MPP. Good tip - Thanx
  20. I don't plan on attending. Their entry fee & parking is ridiculous! As stated above I can visit BPS & others for free! Clarence at Bay City Marine doesn't charge me to park, nor does he have someone collecting a fee at the entrance! Hey "Very" Old Ironmaker - that must have been an extra large beer! I had 3 beers, 10 wings with fries & cole slaw. $40.00 including an $8 tip!
  21. Yellow Fever - Yup you are right! I should have pulled out my map before typing at 2:00 AM!! There is no route past Nipigon! I know the Mill Rd. Lottsa walleye action in past years.
  22. That's serious stuff! At terrace Bay on Hwy 17 there is a logging road (the Mill Rd) which goes north to the town of Longlac on Hwy 11. That would be an alternate route around Nipigon. Truckers from Toronto heading west would have to travel #11 north to Cochrane then head west to Longlac. My understanding is a lot of trucks will travel Hwy 11 in the winter due to the steep hills, curves & winter road conditions encountered while travelling Hwy 17 west of Marathon. Lake Superior snow effect can be intense especially near Schreiber & Rossport. Good luck to any one who must take this route.
  23. Looks awesome! Too bad such a long drive. Canadian dollar won't go far either!
  24. Awesome views of Lake Superior as you travel north of Sault Saint Marie toward Wawa. Sleeping Giant in Thunder Bay is spectacular. If in T.Bay make sure you visit Kakabeka Falls. It's only 20 km outside of the city. They call it Niagara of the North! Keep in mind you'll be crossing the world famous Nipigon River! World class speck fishing in that river.
