  1. It's a small cottage, that also has two bedrooms and a full four piece bathroom. Perfect for the two of us. Thanks for the comments, I was grinning going through all the pics making this report. Forgot to add this one, Ling and melted butter..mmmmmmmmm
  2. Anybody that lives in southwestern Ontario that loves to ice fish knows how I've felt so far this winter.....WITHDRAWAL!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I've been itching for our annual winter getaway. This year the destination was Lake Nipissing with hosts Shawn and Terra up at Idle Tyme. I'm not going to make this a "wordy" report, would rather let the pictures tell the story. Juli and I had a fantastic time as you can tell by the smiles on our faces. The fishing was good, consistent enough that we didn't have too many lulls. If it wasn't walleye biting, we were into perch. If it wasn't perch, a herring. Not too mention the thrill of catching our first Ling; Juli had a couple, and I landed three. Thus the "ugly" in the title. The pics Sunday afternoon Juli's first drop of the line, a nice perch Some "smalleyes" Juli's beauty walter, we didn't bother measuring to see if it was above the slot. Let her go to spawn and make more of those "Nip" beauties!! Juli feasting on some perch and walleye Monday morning sunrise My first Nipissing herring Juli's first ever ling coming through the hole The fight!! My first Ling, kept this one for our first "freshwater lobster" taste Juli with a little walleye Lowrance Lit Up Juli with another Tuesday, little 'eye head My big ling Another "headshot" Small ling The snowstorm Tuesday night Juli in the snow. It was blowing in really strong. Wednesday morning, our home on the ice Juli's second Ling Another small eye for the walleye queen Home away from home, cozy and warm Don't have any pics, but, we also caught many perch...these were the main course in our nightly fish dinners, along with a few walleyes. The two of us had a great time, fishing and just getting a nice "battery recharge". Felt so good to finally hit the hardwater, and, we can't wait to go back to experience "The Nip"!!!!
  3. Did you ask Ryan? If memory serves me right, those are his old "stomping grounds"?
  4. Great stuff, Chris!! We tried Ling for the first time this week as well. Had it as an appetizer before a walleye and perch dinner...MMMMMMM!! Cut into one inch pieces boiled for ten minutes, dipped in melted butter. Delicious, but, you sure don't get alot of meat from them. Would definitely eat one again, though.
  5. I'll see what I can dig up Vince. Should have got a pic of Juli kissing her first Ling on Monday, lol! She didn't want to get near it, by the second day she was grabbing them out of the hole (with gloves on, of course)
  6. I wouldn't give up on Schenn yet. Defencemen mature, how many times over the last 30 years have the Leafs traded away D-men that went on to become all stars???? Stoty won't agree with me on this one though
  7. Can't help you, but, can offer my jealousy!! Good luck, that is a dream trip for sure
  8. Store the minnows right in the "fuel" tank...even better.
  9. Awesome fish. If I didn't have three days off for ice fishing next week, I would have been hitting the softwater for steelies. What a beautiful day!!
  10. That gives a whole new meaning to the term Hawg!!!
  11. Holy crappie. He's definitely mastered the hold them out and make them look gigantic hold, but, that is a really nice fish.
  12. Great stuff. Hats off to the guys and gals that put in time at that great little hatchery!!
  13. Spectacular! Browns and specks do it to me everytime.
  14. Too funny, love the look on the bear's face
  15. I hear you, Mike! Definitely not my first colour choice, but, for that price...who cares.
  16. Following Bowslayer's lead with another float suit "heads up". Just ordered a Mustang Integrity Atlantic Class suit for the better half at the great price of $99.99. They only have them in gold and X-small, but, a killer price for a great suit. http://www.gear-up.com/cart_showproduct.php?pid=19465
  17. Tough news Simon. I'm sure you will be fine as the others have stated. Look on the bright side...you are living up in God's country, that fresh air can only help. Keep on posting those ice reports for "the iceless" down here in s-w Ontario.
  18. You aren't kidding!!!! I'm going through withdrawal, BUT, will be fishing at this time next week
  19. Nice going, the better half and I will be up there at this time next week. Sounds like you guys had the best of both worlds...variety and numbers.
  20. Way to go Jacques!! You are having one heck of an ice season so far! One week until we hit the road for some ice, FINALLY!!!
  21. Great stuff you and Nipfisher are really getting me pumped up for next weekend!!
