I was over the peace bridge at noon today. Brown on the Ft Erie shore line, but green in the river. Winds here are still gusty, so50/50 for tomorrow

60 guys crowding the whirlpool this morning can't all be wrong! Yes there are steelhead, browns, lake trout, as well as a multitude of other species in the Niagara. Not hooking up even once? It happens, but rarely.

Anybody who is a real serious steelheader, will know that the options are slim this weekend! However they will also know that the possibilities open up with The weather of November. The clouts that haunt the salmon runs are long gone, and the real serious guys will be there.

Have to agree with Mike, Buy the colour that looks good to you, and on your rod! Fish really could care less!

IMO, 240 is too high, but you can deal with it over time. It all comes down to heat units/time. You will find that the thickness of the fillets, and the species being smoked will dictate the time. Also the available oxygen to turn the wood to smoke will have a determination as well. Be aware that opening the door can produce a vapour rich to vapour lean possibility, that at the least can singe the eyebrows. The worst is much more painful. Be careful, test the process, enjoy the results. A good smoker can bring a lot of beer to your door!

Shore fishing off rocky points is fun. Just need some shrimp and a bobber. Locals will help as well. One good thing about anywhere in Hawaii is that the shoreline is public property. No matter which island. So you are free to fish almost anywhere. One big caveat is that every once in a while a really big wave comes along, and since all rock there is volcanic, you can get very badly hurt if you get knocked over by a rogue wave. I've seen the odd one completely flood a crowded beach, and people and chairs etc washed into the ocean. Be careful. If you Are looking for a beautiful endless beach check out Kailua. Awesome.

You can thank the 'Gods' that you have a woman/wife that wants to share your love of fishing! Mine thinks I'm crazy! At the end of the day, all married folks find common ground one way or another, or they don't stay married long. I'm 43 years happily married, (she told me I was), so I guess she's right! Totally, correct!!

IM0, showing photos with identifiable backgrounds, is far too much info. I don't even like naming the body of water, unless it's Lake Ontario or similar. But that's me. The killer is the next time you go to fish your favorite bend, pool, bay, etc, there are 3 or 4 people fishing it, and you are the one that let the cat out of the bag!

I might have posted a photo of the reel, and mentioned the rod, and asked for opinions on the set-up without providing the link. Pretty funny to me, reading the responses from those that have obviously never tried tying in a swivel above the float. Takes about 3 minutes, and give it a try. I change my mainline halfway through the fall season, because of the stresses it receives from being stretched from fish. I could probably use it the whole season, but line is cheap and I hate wasting the 15 minutes to retie, when the fish are "on", due to my laziness. Or you can keep replacing line, and dealing with the frustrations of line wrapping around the tip, etc, etc,

Swivel about two feet above the deepest stretch of water you expect to fish that day will definately solve your problem. Been doing it got a few years now. Still side casting, and I dont have any problems at all.

Lots of fun to catch. Tiny bit of worm on a #8 hook, below a float, makes a dozen worms last the morning. Great to catch when all the other possibilities are slow. The grand below the dam at Caledonia is a good start although they can be found almost anywhere

Beer is for hydration, Scotch is for relaxation after the serious hydration is accomplished. Can be done between morning and evening fishing periods

I was north of Temagami last week, and when I went into North Bay on the way home, every vehicle, building, pole etc, was covered in May Flies!(hexagenia limbata, for those that care) The folks from that area call them shad flies. The fish love them, and don't seem interested in anything else. So if you see a lot of empty casings on the water, and fish slurping them off the surface, the beer and the scotch would be the solution, I'm afraid.

I can get used to almost anything, but really did like the green one much better. Can I get it back.....please?

You do if bought from a retail store, but not privately. Doesn't hold true when bought in the US though. Feds always want their pound of flesh.
