  1. Update to the story... http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1039520--international-student-swept-over-niagara-falls-after-trying-to-take-a-picture?bn=1 Seems it was a 19 year old international student...
  2. I posted that I have been working on fishing weightless for Bass as of late. In calm waters its easy to watch the line to see if it suddenly speeds up or changes direction, but with even a little chop on the water, my green power pro becomes very difficult to see. Does anyone use high visibility line? If so, how much does it affect the bite? What would you recommend? I'm thinking of using high vis line with a good strong florocarbon leader...or a leader of a less visible line. How long a leader would you tie on? Any comments and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks everyone!
  3. Rizzo...seeing your line suddenly speed up or change directions is pretty cool to see! On calm days it's much easier...will have to look into high visibility line for those choppy days on the water. Your cottage looks great btw! You are too funny merc! Those pink/brown ones and just straight black worked well! Tournaments?? LOL.
  4. Good to see you posting again Rich! I passed a Kawartha Dairy this past weekend heading north and wondered when the annual report was coming out! Great to see that tradition still happening. Oh yeah...nice fish too!
  5. SBK...I have been reading the threads about what you are going through and I find it amazing the positive attitude and fresh sense of happiness I sense in your posts! Keep it up! I hope you get out on the water real soon...you deserve it!
  6. Shawn...congrats on the new PB. It's a monster!
  7. Wow! Fantastic fish!
  8. Well, after getting home from Alberta on Thursday night, I headed to my cousin's cottage again for Friday evening. He was late getting there, so I made myself at home on the back deck overlooking the bay the cottage is on. I walked down to the dock and I saw a HUGE bass staring back at me! I ran to the car to get my fishing rod and started throwing all I had at that fish...but it wasn't interested enough to bite. It came out a few times...then slowly backed up. The sun was going down, so I just made a few casts from the dock and caught 3 from there. One from the dock... The next morning we were up and on the water by 820ish. They were calling for rain on and off all day, but there was none to be seen. Historically I have sucked at bass fishing, but recently I have been working on fishing weightless and paying close attention to my line as my bait slowly drops. It's paid off, as I seem to be catching them now! My cousin with a great 5.2 pounder! Another one from the first day.... After having a great rib dinner and watching fishing shows and movies I headed to bed...completely exhausted. We were up around 730ish Sunday morning...and as I enjoyed my coffee, the fog was clearing nicely.... We were only out a few hours...it was pretty windy and a tough fish, but we managed to pull some nice ones from the weedbeds.
  9. Phenomenal fish there!!!! A definite piece of fishing heaven there! An incredible season for you!
  10. Just catching up on reports now that I'm back from vacation. Despite all the fixing you had to do...the raid by the MNR and other things, it looks like you had a great time Terry! There's almost a smile on your face in some of those pictures! Great pics and video Terry! You don't like writing big reports, but you did a great job with this one!
  11. Great report Will!!! What?? Linc took a few pictures did he? I'm surprised you got the report up this quickly...LOL. Some great shots and lots of smiles there. The fishing looked prime and it sure looks like you guys ate well!! One thing I have to comment on though... "Certain had to have seen us but it wasn't until it smelled us that it went back into the bush." - I'm sure that works on all kinds of animals...and people too!! LOL Where the pic of your 40+ inch pike? Anyhow...wish I could have joined you guys on that trip...maybe next year!
  12. Wow!! That's a lot of walleye! Congrats on the PB...a fantastic fish for sure! Great to see OFC'ers coming together like this.
  13. The guide I was with said for the river fishing he does its needed...can run it in 3" of water apparently. His hull has been reinforced and can take a beating!
  14. I just saw your report and said the same thing...that I was close to your restaurant!! Wish I knew about it sooner! We didn't hike to the Tea House as I had my little one with me, but one day when I have more time (3 days isn't enough to truly experience all there is to do between Banff and Jasper), I'd love to hike more!
  15. Damn! I was about as close to there as I have been in decades...just got back from visiting Banff! Absolutely amazing report Jet! As I drove through the mountains I noticed every river and ever lake and itched to wet a line. To fish in those surroundings is a dream...and the fish you caught were incredible! Very inspiring report! The restaurant looks great too! I want to visit one day for sure!
  16. Just catching up as I am away on vacation myself and found this report. Looks like a little slice of heaven there! Good job on the bass under different conditions...loved all the pics!
  17. Looked like a blast Geoff! Some great looking fish...would love to fish there some day!
  18. Brian and Terry...thanks! So many photo opportunities...thank goodness for digital cameras now! Can take all you want and delete the ones that don't turn out instead of taking rolls and rolls of film hoping you got a few nice ones!
  19. I remember checking a while ago when the tax thing was first brought up. I checked a few times right after that and the tax was correct. Wonder if they accidentally hit a larger size by accident?
  20. I think its because you lose about 20% of the horsepower from the top end to the lower end. From what I understand, they are perfect for extremely shallow water. The guide I was with said it'll work in 3" of water. Another downside is in rough waters as the lower end can come out of the water as the boat goes up and down.
  21. Loved this report! Looks like a great time was had by all...loved the pic of the kids up front...classic! Death grip on your phone...LOL...I can see why! Great pics...thanks for taking the time to write this up!
  22. Great report! Gotta love it when kids get into things other than panfish...looks like a great time was had!
  23. I forgot to mention that my brother caught his personal best about a half hour into the trip! We were both having an awesome time out there. My brother has lived there for almost 10 years and has only been out a few other times. Let's just say he really wants to start fishing again! LOL. Only a few were caught trolling. We'd cast from one spot for a bit...he has a "two minute no action" rule and then we'd slowly troll to the next spot. The magic number was 13...we looked for weedbeds...anything shallower or deeper didn't yield any action. I believe it Rod Caster...can't wait to come back and fish other lakes and the rivers!
