  1. I have two cars... 17 year old Corolla with 380,000 kms on it. Only major things replaced are radiator, starter, alternator and wiper motor. Just get regular maintenance stuff....brakes, muffler, oil changes etc. Still costs 30 buck to fill and gets 400km per tank. Oh yeah...the air cond is broken...and I wont pay the 800 bucks to get it upgraded to the new systems...haha. Best thing...it's paid off...LOL. 1998 Honda CRV with 230,000 kms on it. Regular maintenance stuff. Had to fix the air conditioning and fuel pump (warranty). Original brakes lasted 180,000kms. Still driving with the original exhaust system...including the muffler! Other than that it's been a dream. Will be paid off in 3 months. Along the way I've had a Cavalier - lasted 4 years before the transmission went. Also had a Mercury Lynx....lasted 5 years before cracked manifold and gasket replacement. I'll never buy domestic again...unless I have no choice.
  2. Oh no Thom!!!! If you can get down south to Toronto (fly...whatever), bly and I may be able drive you up!!!! Anyone else in your area???? Come on OFC...let's get TJSA to Lakair!!!
  3. Just went to have a smoke otuside here at Yonge/Eglinton. Winds picked up to at least 100km/h, and horizontal rain...winds changing directions constantly. Got soaked along with 10 others....LOL. Lasted only 10 minutes...wow!!!
  4. Hmmm...how's 8pm sound?? LOL.
  5. Hmmm...last time this happened the Carp bite turned on big time later in the evenin....looks like I gotta go fishing tonite...LOL
  6. Yeah..I'd rather catch those species as well, but when and where they will be in the big lake is often difficult for those of us without boats. I recently got into carp fishing because I could see them around...everywhere in fact. Dont get me wrong, I'm still tryin for pike and walleye, but on those days I want a good fight on my line, I wont hesitate to get out the carp stuff. That, and how many opportunities do shore fishermen get a chance to fight and land a 25 pound fish? One thing bly and I do....we look to see what fish are swimming and then try to catch em!! LOL.
  7. Great haul there! I dont even know if ones that size hang around my neck of the woods...if they do, then I gotta go and get me some!!! LOL
  8. LOL...nice one Joey!!!
  9. Just look for some structure (rocks, drop offs)and/or weedlines and baitfish! That combination usually means something big is lurking nearby. Bly and I have had some pretty good success sticking to that combination. Oh yeah...we get skunked a lot too, but when you do land some big walleye and pike, it's all worth it. Dont give up!
  10. LOL...When I looked at the proportion of the head and the rest of the body, I thought you were a midget...sorry...what's the politically correct term...vertically impared? Nice photoshop job!!!
  11. Welcome TheRJ!! I'm a fellow team 6 member...good luck out there!
  12. Cool...I figured I'd put a worse case scenario in saying 6 hours. We'll be coming up the east side of Simcoe...take hwy 12 to 400 then up 69. With a bit of luck we'll be there by 2ish then.
  13. Wow...that's a bit steep!!! Dont blame you for skipping out on that idea.
  14. Check out this link.... Average Weather for Ear Falls by Month Average high temp is 24C Average low is 12C Have fun!
  15. Sweet ride! You need anyone to test it out for you before you start the charters? I'll volunteer....LOL
  16. Cant agree with you more Joey! I really dont think bly and I would be as much into fishing if it wasn't for this community. This board has really touched a lot of lives in a very positive way....lurkers included!
  17. Bly and I are dropping our kids off around 8am on Friday. Should be on the road by 9. Looking at a map, it looks like it's about a 500km drive. Hopefully pulling in at 3ish in the afternoon. If anyone sees Gerritt before then, please let him know...thanks!!! See you all up there.
  18. Great report. Too bad about fishing alone, but sometimes it's great to be able to do that. You had some pretty good success out there too! Great job!
  19. Check out the help thread....FAQ section. Here's the link http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20 Good luck!
  20. Excellent report! Great writing and pics too. Must have been a thrill for the little guy!
  21. Checked out the weather for NOrth Bay and they are now calling for 70% chance of rain on Saturday. The forecast will change a hundred times til then though...LOL.
  22. Great report Victor! I'm glad that you got into some fish on Saturday. There's nothing I hate more than getting people to come all the way out our way only to get skunked. It was great meeting you...nice to put a face to the online persona. Also...awesome job on Sunday too. Bly and I have a routine at the end of an outing. We both announce last cast. I then talk to them...yes talk. I say "Ok boys, the free food is leaving in a few minutes...I'm not kidding...if you dont take it now, then it's gone!!!". We give it 10 minutes...then one of us starts packing up while the other continues to fish. This has worked a lot of times for us....give it a try next time. Others think you are crazy but, what the heck....LOL
  23. Great job 007! I knew you'd pick yourself back up after that pike. Carp are a lot of fun that's for sure. The thing I like about them is that ANY shore angler has a good shot at landing a 20+ pound fish. Just need a little patience and put in the time. Congrats on the personal best!! Now, go and get that pike with re-newed confidence!
  24. Wow...amazing...truly amazing. We had the standard ultrasounds, but these are incredible to see! Thanks for sharing....brings back memories for sure (no, not my memories....memories of seeing my daughter...LOL)
