Hello to the Forum and how mice saved our lives...
ccmtcanada replied to blue pickeral's topic in General Discussion
Welcome to the board! You've picked the best one to be a part of. Great story about the mice too...you just never know! -
Now that is one big pig of a carp!!! Thanks for posting!

Bernie...now that the water's have warmed they are a LOT of fun to land. It helps to have 30 pound Power Pro mainline and 20 pound leaders too!! LOL. Yep...hoping the pike are as big next weekend! Really looking forward to it...

I've never had success on Scugog on a boat. Mind you, I dont know what I'm doing...LOL. Wish I had some tips for you!!! Terry is right however, there is a large Carp die-off going on right now up there. If you decide to try it out...good luck!

What fish species do you target most often?
ccmtcanada replied to Aaron Shirley's topic in General Discussion
I believe it's because you can have multiple choices. In this case, 30 people have voted, but for multiple species. The %age looks like it's using all the choices and NOT the number of people as the base. -
LOL...it took Victor a whole 5 minutes to post on this one though...I was very disappointed in him....haha

See what happens when I go fishing? I miss stuff like this on the board!! Probably a good thing...
-
LOL...same here...saw the guy taking a piss and then said...Oh yeah...there's a fish in there too... I noticed that same sky where I was fishing last night too....it was a great sight that's for sure. Great job on the pike!!

I haven't been carping for very long, but there have been plenty of days where I witness what you did. My experience is that they are not feeding. I'll usually try for them for a while, and then give up and cast further away in deeper water....I find the ones cruising the deeper waters are more likely to be feeding. Carp experts out there...am I off base here? I hope so, cause I'd like to get the ones that I can see RIGHT in front of me like that!!! LOL.

Awesome report...you gotta love it when it's non stop action! I've only had that happen with panfish...LOL. Great job out there!

LAKAIR, Year One ! (and then some, more pics)
ccmtcanada replied to Spiel's topic in General Discussion
Awesome pics....cant wait til next weekend! Forgive my ignorance...but what year was the first year? -
Good job on the boilie and hair rig! To secure it on the hair, bly and I use elastic bands. We just thread it through and tie one knot....then trim the elastic band. We have a bag of about 500 elastic bands, so we were too cheap to get the tubing that you can buy....LOL

I decided to head to a different spot tonight....my usual fishing hole has been hit and miss lately. Basskicker and I have been in touch all week about hooking up, so he joined me just after 8:00pm. It was a little crowded there tonight...cant blame everyone...it was perfect weather to be out fishing! Anyhow, the spot I wanted to fish was occupied all night, so we had to cast our lines to a spot that has never produced a fish for me. We had a great chat about his fishing trip up north a while ago... had a few line bumps, but finally, at 10pm, Basskicker packed his stuff and went home. I decided to wait and see if some of the others would leave as well!! Finally, at 10:30, the majority of people left and I inched my chair closer to where I wanted to be. I was able to cast to the area I wanted, and wouldn't you know it, 10 minutes later, I hooked into this one! It was tricky to get in because the fish swam straight for shore. As I was reeling madly, the fish unfortunately crossed one of the other guys lines and we both ended up having to bring it in. He thought he had hooked it, so the moment of truth came and lo and behold my hair rig was firmly embedded in it's mouth. He was a great guy...he wanted to learn about hair rigs and feeders, so we had a great chat as I was packing up. I told him where to find the feeders and I gave him a hair rig and off I went. I didn't bother to measure this guy, but I estimate he was a 15 or 16 pounder. It looks bigger in the pic because he came up close and I did that great "arm extend"....LOL. Who knows how many I could have hooked into if I had the spot I wanted...oh well...what can ya do right? I was just happy I got one!!!

Aww man...I HATE stories like this. Buying a home is such a huge thing for people. I can only imagine the let down after thinking you found your dream house. Things do work out in the end...and at least you found all those things before the purchase instead of moving in and then finding out. Being taken by the agent as well...that's awful...but as I said before....things work out in the end and he'll get his one day!
-
Thanks....but I truly believe that it's not the wind they dont like...I'm pretty sure it's me....LOL.
-
Ahhh...that's better...I missed your great water shots DSN! Glad to see you are back and fishing again. Sorry hear about your couch...any word on that APB on it yet??
-
I'm not one to kid anyone about baitcasters...I just got one about a month ago...tried it 2 times and put it away....LOL. I can cast with few birds nests....but I'm a bit paranoid about them, so my casts only go about 20 feet because I'm a little heavy with the thumb....haha. Anyone going to Lakair wanna give me some lessons???
-
Well....a nice ride in the boat is still better than doing nothing!!! AT least you got out there and gave it a try. You must be getting really good with that baitcaster now... You'll get into some nice fish soon!!!
-
I fish exclusively from shore so what I target depends on what's close!!! 1) Early Spring and Fall - Steelhead 2) Late Spring and Summer - Carp 3) Fall - Walleye

Carping - Tuesday June 12th - Evening
ccmtcanada replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Funny you mention that Mike. Every winter, I usually put on 10 pounds...you know...the hibernating/no exercise time period for me. That weight comes off during the summer, but every winter like clockwork I'd gain that weight. That translates to evenings watching TV eating nothing but junk. With bly and I discovering trib fishing this winter/spring, we found ourselves walking miles and miles 3 days a week. If we were night fishing, we'd be in one spot, but the key is no snacking. Same with Carp fishing now...no snacking. I actually LOST 10 pounds and 2 inches off my waist this past winter and have kept it off...for the past 10 years I've been going to a tailor locally to have my pants let out....now I gotta take them back to have them taken in...LOL -
I've been standing in the trib, and had them come close to me, surface to look at me and then calmly flip their tales and saunter out of there. I swear I can hear them laughing all the way too.
-
Yeah yeah yeah....team 6 is in third....but the first and second place teams have 2 more fish than we do. Once we get on the board with those, you'll be looking up at us!!! LOL Morning Gerritt!!!
-
Too bad about the skunk...but happy to hear a good time was had! Roy does what bly and I do...we tell people we are taking them to our hotspots, but we dont catch anything.....and act all surprised when no one brings in a fish....LOL. The jumping sturgeon must have been great to see!
-
Wow...dont you just love moving!!! I've had a few disasters in my day (moving 11 times in 13 year), but I wont bring any of them up here....LOL. Sorry to hear about all your problems!!!! You are right though....you should just go out and fish. As far as the traffic is concerned, there was a house I lived at in London Ontario (while attending school)...my window was literally 30 feet from Richmond Street (major north/south road) and the traffic noise was horrible! It only took about 2 weeks before I was completely used to it and it never kept me awake again. Funny thing is that whenever I came home for a visit...the quiet kept me awake...LOL.
