  1. I love the Cajun Red. When fishing this past May for eye's my bro bashed it at first - he's afraid when the big one hits mono won't stand up, but as the week went along it proved him wrong. Caught a 36 pound striper on Cajun 10 pound line just last year on it. I asked the same question about why a bleeding hook they can see, but red line they cant. The answers I got was that because red hooks and lures are solid they have a flash or look, but as the line is see through it blends into the background as it goes deeper. I don't know anything about all of that but I'll definately keep using it.
  2. I know I ask a lot of questions on here but does anyone have any GPS Data on a SD card for Petit Lake in the Manion Lake system? I've got 60 waypoints for barter!
  3. You are GOOD! Couldn't get it on a message but did set up an album. Thanks again. I know they aren't the biggest - but it was fun.
  4. I knew someone would know, but in creating the album it still says the pics are too big and are not resizing. Am I screwed? I'll try your suggestion Jen - Thanks!
  5. I need help. I've got some pics of my trip to Manion but I don't know how to put them on. Ideas?
  6. I just got a call from my bro and instead of leaving for our Canada walleye trip this Sat we aren't leaving until Sunday!!! I've been ready for a month. My wife gave me crap just the other night since whenever we go on vacation I wait until that morning to pack but my bag is by the door and my gear is stacked in the garage ready to go! Good thing I spent too much on Mother's day.
  7. Great site - thanks! I like how it walks you through it.
  8. I just read the post on floro line and was wondering if anyone has directions on the various knots. I've traditionaly used the trilene because I know how to do it well, but find it hard on certain hooks, especially when your hands are cold. Used the polamar a few times with Fireline and hated it. I kept losing strikes when the line would snap at the hook (that was before anyone told me to wet the line before your tighten it as well.) I thought fireline worked well after it had been the water a few days but was very fragile until it balanced so I don't like it for use as leaders on spinner rigs that won't be in the water until you tie it on. Have had good success the past year with Shakespears Cajun Red. Casts well, trolled fine and not too much stretch.
  9. Growing up in Storm Lake, Iowa, we used to throw them on the bank when we caught carp. The Carp Farm is what we called the lake for a few years. I've never actually tried catching them, but I will admit some of the best fights came from carp. Those hard, side-to-side pulls lasted a long time when your a kid using a zebco reel and a five foot rod from the local hardware store. Once and a while the lake would get really low and we'd find huge ones dead on the banks.
  10. I think I will. One of his stories is about catching one at night and the fish curling around his buddies arm when he reached down to pull it out of the water. That would be enough for me to stop night fishing - just thinking about it gives me the shivers. Just don't think I could eat one unless I was really, really hungry!
  11. I had them pictured more snake/eal like. don't get me wrong, they aren't handsome. So the tales are true.
  12. My brother (older of course) has been traveling to Ontario for over 15 years to fish and every time I go with him at somepoint he mentions someone catching an ealpout. What the heck is an ealpout???? Next week will be my fourth trip up there with him and I have never seen one of them. I'm thinking of calling Bull on him. If they are true, they give me a the heebie jeebies from their description.
  13. In thinking about your topic, I also came up with a few that created action rather than bringing everyone to attention or silence. The bell of a boxing ring actually begins the action, as well as the ding we all associate with airplane. Heavens be if we unbuckle our seat belt before we hear the ding. Might be a little off task, or extra credit - I don't know your teacher.
  14. I just talked with my guy and he said that the last confirmed report of paddle fish was in Lake Erie in the 1920's and that they were also found in Canada until around that time in isolated spots. They were over-harvested and did not survive.
