  1. I loved the halftime show. I thought he did a great job!
  2. Hey Tom!! Great to hear from you again and one heck of a report as well. Congrats on a great day out there. I've been fishless for more weeks than I care to admit, so I'm living thru all of you guys who get out there on the ice.
  3. That's awesome Bernie! I always thought curling wasn't really a sport until I tried playing it myself. It's not nearly as easy as it looks and does require physical skill and stamina. Great job....congrats!
  4. This is one of my peeves too. I commute on the 401 every day and there is always someone with flying snow/ice driving down the road.
  5. I don't even know who's in it. I just go to my buddy's place, eat chili, drink and hang out. Isn't that what the Superbowl is about?
  6. Hey Steve....nice avatar....
  7. Priceless...just priceless Grant. She handled that fish like a pro! She had a good coach as well. Looks like your camera got slimed too...LOL. Ok...fess up now....you started catching more pike AFTER fishing with her....I think we know who taught who in the art of pike fishing....
  8. Update for Southern Ontario.... Get your latest updates here...... http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/son_e.html City of Toronto 4:47 AM EST Thursday 31 January 2008 Winter storm watch for City of Toronto issued Another winter storm with significant snow amounts threatening for Friday. This is an alert to the potential development of dangerous winter weather conditions in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. Snowsqualls continue to come ashore off of Lake Huron across the Bruce Peninsula then across Georgian Bay into ski country from Orillia and Midland north to near Britt. Local snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm are likely this morning along with local whiteout conditions from bursts of heavy snow and occasional blowing snow in the strongest snowsqualls. The snowsqualls are expected to weaken into a few flurries by noon as a high pressure ridge builds in and finally cuts off the brisk westerly winds. Meanwhile a low pressure area over west Texas is getting organized and setting its sights on southern Ontario. As the low moves east across the southern states then curves northeast towards the Ohio Valley tonight it is expected to tap into alot of moisture and energy from the gulf of Mexico. As a result there is potential for this low to intensify into a significant winter storm as it moves into southern Ontario later tonight and Friday. Latest indications show the potential for significant amounts of snow from this deepening low as it tracks northeast just south of lakes Erie and Ontario towards New England by Saturday. This type of winter storm often has a swath of 15 to 30 cm of heavy snow associated with it. Freezing rain and ice pellets will also be a problem as the storm centre gets close to the lower Great Lakes. The leading edge of the snow is expected to reach the Windsor and Sarnia areas tonight then spread rapidly northeast across the remainder of the district reaching the Ottawa area Friday morning. Latest analyses suggest the heaviest snow swath may extend from Lake St Clair northeast across the London Kitchener and Golden Horseshoe areas into eastern Ontario including the national Capital region Friday. Ice pellets and freezing rain may also be an issue to contend with generally in regions near and southeast of highway 401. Exact snowfall amounts and the location of ice pellets and freezing rain will depend upon the exact track of this developing storm. It is also possible if the storm centre tracks further north than expected that there could be a changeover to rain Friday especially in areas near eastern Lake Erie. Travellers should be prepared to alter plans accordingly again as driving conditions once again will deteriorate significantly on Friday. This storm has the potential to be quite significant and have high impact especially if heavy snow develops. Environment Canada is closely monitoring this situation and will issue warnings later today as needed. Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.
  9. You spoke too soon my soon-to-be-snowy friend.... http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/report_e.html?qc67 Warnings Montréal métropolitain - Laval 4:33 AM EST Thursday 31 January 2008 Snowfall warning for Montréal métropolitain - Laval issued 15 to 25 cm of snow are expected over these regions Friday. A major developing low pressure system over Colorado will intensify to lie near Lake Ontario by Friday evening. Snow will begin Friday morning over southwestern Québec intensify in the afternoon and leave significant amounts. Moreover strong northeast winds will produce blowing snow. Meanwhile a strong southwest flow over Lower North Shore will give high winds today over these regions.
  10. So, we get blasted by an extreme cold snap, flash freeze warnings and frigid temps and for Thursday night into Friday there could be 20-30cm of snow. If you have travels for that time period, please allow plenty of extra time or just stay off the roads if you can. For updates, go here.... http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/SWS_bulletins_e.html Update as of 6:43 PM EST Wednesday: WOCN11 CWTO 302343 Special weather statement Issued by Environment Canada Ontario region. 6:43 PM EST Wednesday 30 January 2008. Special weather statement issued for.. City of Toronto Simcoe - Delhi - Norfolk Oxford - Brant Niagara City of Hamilton Waterloo - Wellington Halton - Peel York - Durham Belleville - Quinte - Northumberland Kingston - Prince Edward Peterborough - Kawartha Lakes Stirling - Tweed - South Frontenac Bancroft - Bon Echo Park Brockville - Leeds and Grenville City of Ottawa Gatineau Prescott and Russell Cornwall - Morrisburg Smiths Falls - Lanark - Sharbot Lake Renfrew - Pembroke - Barry's Bay. Mother nature is relentless. Another ripple in the jetstream over the american southwest this evening is poised to give life to yet another significant low pressure system over Oklahoma on Thursday. This weather system will be well positioned to tap a considerable amount of moisture off the gulf of Mexico which will aid in the intensification of this low as it heads northeastward towards the Maritimes this weekend. The centre of the low pressure disturbance is currently forecast to track just south of the lower lakes and intensify as it passes through. Snow heavy at times is expected to affect an area encompassing the Golden Horseshoe to Peterborough to Ottawa and including most of eastern Ontario. At this time it looks like the snow will begin to overspread southwestern Ontario Thursday overnight reaching the Ottawa area on Friday morning. Latest analysis has this storm producing a swath of 20 to 30 centimetres of snow over the Golden Horseshoe to Trenton to Ottawa corridor with snow falling throughout the day on Friday. Depending on the track of the low the amounts of snow over a specific region could vary considerably. Environment Canada continues to watch the development of this system. Listen for further statements. Additional information may also be found by consulting the latest public forecast. The next public forecast will be issued by 11 AM. END/RUDDICK
  11. Wow...a window got blown in at work? And I missed it? Oh well....LOL
  12. I'm at home sick with a nasty cold. Ears and nose all plugged up complete with cough. Glad I'm inside and not in that nasty wind. Our backyard rink is littered with stuff that broke off our tree....and thanks to the cold front it all froze into the ice.
  13. Huh? I was all set to not attend this year, because I hate going downtown Toronto. Damn...there goes some more money I cant afford to spend. Thanks for the update Rick...and you're right...they should have maybe mentioned it here. TJ...get some promo tickets....I wanna win some like I did last year....LOL
  14. Yep...we're right in line for this....here's the environment Canada warning for tomorrow.... City of Toronto 3:03 PM EST Tuesday 29 January 2008 Wind warning for City of Toronto continued Very high winds expected late tonight and Wednesday. Freezing rain warning.. Cold air remains trapped in the Ottawa Valley. An area of rain developing over lower Michigan this afternoon will move northeastward to reach the Cornwall and eastern Ottawa Valley late this evening or around midnight. The precipitation will begin as freezing rain then change to rain within 2 to 4 hours as the cold air is slowly scoured out. Wind warning.. A powerful cold front is now racing toward southern Ontario. The front will reach the Windsor area by midnight..The Toronto and highway 400 corridor around 4 AM..And eastern Ontario around dawn Wednesday. Behind the cold front a very strong blast of cold Arctic air is expected that will cause the temperature to plummet sharply. Westerly winds with gusts to 90 or 100 km/h are expected with gusts as high as 110 km/h in exposed areas near the Great Lakes. Flash freeze warning.. The cold front that will spawn the high winds will also cause temperatures to rapidly plummet from values near +5 to +8 to values of near -10 or lower. This dramatic temperature drop will occur over all of southern Ontario. The flash freeze warning has been issued for places where considerable water is expected to be lying around from melting snow. Blowing snow warning.. The strong cold westerly winds will be accompanied by extensive flurry and local snowsquall activity where they blow off the Great Lakes. This will cause extensive reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.
  15. After rains or melt from snow/ice, and while the waters are still elevated. That triggers them running up rivers and creeks. Numbers are not as great now as they were in the fall or spring, but some come up all winter long. You'll have to time it right and alter your bait depending on water clarity.
  16. Wow...great crappies! From that pic it looks like a nice comfy hut too....LOL. Nice job out there...it's good to see someone catching fish on that lake...I usually get skunked there.
  17. I always like looking at old pics like that. Thanks for posting!
  18. With the exception of a few trips to the Kawarthas, I fish primarily Lake Ontario and it's Tributaries, so I'd have to say that that is my fav lake at this point. My view may change now that I have a boat though and plan as many trips to different lakes as possible next season.
  19. Snag has dedicated entire threads to his success at catching pike on those dollar store cranks. I've seen him catch with them...mind you, they dont track properly, which may help with those aggresive pike.
  20. If it was me...and this is just my opinion...if it's just a few spools of line, I'd just add it up to my experiences and wouldn't buy it again. Since it happened to two kinds of line, I'd assume it was the quality of the product and then move on. If it was something expensive (like rod holders, fish finders etc...), then I'd be calling and ask them to do something about it.
  21. Happy Birthday Rich! Cold or not, it's always great to catch some fish. Great job you two for braving the temps and giving your best.
  22. I was actually afraid to click on this thread....LOL. Nice pics Glen....I'm assuming they are great for bass fishing!
  23. Pretty scary stuff!! Did I hear that right? Open water on Monday, and people sledding on Tuesday?
  24. LOL Wanye....I do shore fish a lot too, and this car can hold my fishing rods/reels and tackle...maybe I should have mentioned that.
  25. Krawler....if you read the rules of the board, it asks that non fishing posts have NF in the title. If you see that and dont care, then dont click.
