Okay.. that makes sense! The vent hole.. I caught mine last year.. it's two piece, the bottom threads on. Mine had come lose and the open edge of the cut hole was showing beyond the plastic ring. I recentered and tightened it up. Bet yours slipped and then tore.

Weeds... I've got a low time machine here (on normal wheels) that I picked up about 15 months ago, that I haven't had time to put thru the shop yet. Hopefully this fall I'll get on it.. and I'll be building a brand new set of amphibs for it this coming winter to install next spring. It will be going "out the door" for about $90k. That's about $35k less than I generally get for used ones in the past... as I picked up the airplane in a serious distress sale. You CAN find them cheaper... but you know how that saying goes!

It looks much better in this setting Dan!.. Thanks everyone!

Thanks Henry.. but there's nothing amazing about me! It's my wife that needs the accolades.... lol

Usually you are all rid of me by now, sorry about that! 7 weeks late taking my sweetheart up North. In amongst all the normal stuff I look after year round for customers.. I started my winter work the day after I delivered my Sister's (that passed a year ago yesterday and I apologise to anyone I p'd off yesterday!) GMC Jimmy to our good friend Roy in October. Thanks again Roy.. it took a load off my mind and I think you got a nice new ride! The following morning I picked this unfortunate sole up at an Ottawa Valley aerodrome and hauled it home. Came up just shy of 500 long hours making that ready to paint and fly again... and then hauled it back to the owner in April. Split to jig / repair / rebuild and join each section back on as you go.. We're getting there.. All new tail surfaces going together.. and the entirely new front end is finished and the engine has been run. Everything ready for paint.. reassembly and flight.. being hauled back to the owner. While working on the above rebuild.. I was also putting the finishing touches on a set of amphibs that had been destroyed and that I'd spent most of last winter rebuilding.. I started the install in the fall and then finished it up in time for the May 24th weekend... working on it full time after I'd delivered the rebuild above back to the owner. This one has a Subaru car engine in it, with a geared redrive to get the propellor RPM down below 2700 max. Not my cup'a tea.. but to each his own! All done and gone.. and he's been fishing for awhile now! Next up.. floats delivered by truck.. airplane delivered by air from British Columbia. Now I like to keep things simple (KISS) with a hand pump and look out the damn windows to see where the wheels are before landing. I generally do an amphib installation, from scratch (cut all the struts, make/mill all the fittings etc) in just under 80 hours. I have 195 hours into this airplane... electric pump... electric gear selector with 4 lights for gear up.. 4 for gear down.. if that's not enough, an audio system that had to be hooked into the intercom that cries out CHECK LANDING GEAR>> CHECK LANDING GEAR>>> Water landing OKAY! And a list a mile long to add to it.. I squeezed him in for "3 weeks work" figuring we'd be a little late going North... but here we are almost 8 weeks later! Not even sure how I smiled in this pic.. maybe it's a lear... lol But as of today... it's ready for it's test flight. I just can't get it thru the mud to the runway. Tomorrow is gonna be "sheets of plywood day" and we'll get it into the air. Customer is flying in from Vancouver tomorrow night to leave with it Monday. It runs.. the brakes work.. that's good enough for me! Leah's fathers little Zenair is ready to go as well.. and of course I'm always last.. but now it's fishing time!! Now where did I leave my canoe??????? Have a great summer folks......I'm getting the hell outta Dodge....

I like to stand up and salute those too Dan !! Some beauty pics there hun and you've really grasped the composition on all of them!! Glad you had a great week... wish we could have joined you but texting was always fun! Tell Paul to slow down.. the cover isn't meant for 135!! I've had no issues with mine.. same Lund sport trac cover.. but I don't have that black stitching across below the window. Was there anything in the bow that might have started the tear once the air pressure pushed it down??

You're having too much fun Bud!! See you up there soooonnnn .... !!

Yah... just how long do I have to TRY and get my hair again?? Marty was here yesterday.. he can tell ya it's getting pretty close...

I'm still using a Berkley Lightning spinning rod, that I bought in 1983, and a Lebaron Special bait caster rod(same darn thing in black wrap) that I bought at the same time. Both have a lifetime warrantee.. that I've yet to collect on in 27 years, and I sure don't have the receipt anymore! My most used rods.. What are you guys doing to yours???

Stay in line with the patio stones.. DO NOT tuck in beside the dock. that cost me a $100 lamp last year... there is a boulder in the water there that you can't see! Mark the thang Kevin...

I'd do Temagami.. but slim chance you'll find one still available for this year! Lakeland Airways/Three Buoys.. up to 10 persons.. 1-705-569-3455 Leisure Island.. 2 people perfect.. or 2 VERY friendly couples.. 1-705-569-3261

Happy Sunfish hunting Mister Bear!! A sad day Jer... but I wish we could do the same distinguished deed for our human friends as well.. Still miss our Lab(s)

10 inches is more than enough Roger... at least that's what she told me last night! But after your trip.. go find a hitch that makes your trailer sit perfectly level. I ended up with a flat multi ball receiver to accomplish that..

...unless it's actually the lure itself!

4 watts is for wussies !! Right Terry... lol
-
Yep.. I'm still alive! Sorry! Thanks for the text messages Terry.. at least I know someone cares! lol Thought I was gonna lose the hangar.. the airplane I was sitting in (that have been working on for the last 2 months...with 2 days left to go!) and my own stuff.. not once,, but TWICE in one day! Spent 5 hours today getting my laneway usable again.. we had to use the runway to get to the concession road. Genny got a good work out.. and thankfully Leah went to visit her cousins in Sarnia back on Tuesday.. What they haven't shown on the news.. Huronia Steel on #93 is out of business.. as is Sargent's Cement next door. Kindred is missing a roof.. Baytech is superficial.. as it's a steel post and beam building with none supportive cinder that came down. Ideal supply and the sports store are gone on King Street. And I've gotta say it... God really does hate trailer parks...

Got an extra $200K burning a hole in your pocket?

What a useless Piece of Crap! And Mike is right.. and I finally got it back.. 28 hours later. Thought I was gonna lose the hangar last night and the airplane I was sitting in, and then some... Spent 5 hours making my laneway passable today.. we had to use the runway to get off the property! -
Well Bernie.. I was sitting in an airplane suspended from the steel beam above and two block and tackles... 2 days to go on it after 2 months and I thought the hangar was coming down on it! If that wasn't bad enough.. a tornado roared thru 5 hours later...

Carry a peanut butter jar with a marked inch of water in it. Fill jar with fuel.. if the "water" grows above the line there is alcohol/ethanol in the gas. One of the easiest substance to check for in gas.

No doubt here Drew!! It's simply the case of an overzealous welder weakening parent material while putting in internal brackets! That and poor design...

Beary nice Raf.. Beary NICE!!!!

Thanks Joe! Make me miss it more.... Shame to see the dock shot getting smaller instead of bigger.. and I could have done without "harry bum crack".. affectionately known as TJ ! Glad you all had a good time!! Tell that Art fella.. my brother from another mommma... diet pepsi ! Kevin even put in the perfect dock for me to pull up beside! Too bad we couldn't get there...
