Have them on the car but not our van yet. Makes a world of difference if we need to go somewhere in the winter when the weather is not good (bare and dry) we use the car and park the van. Next year we will both be back at work so winter tires will be a must in my book for both vehicles. If it saves me from one minor accident that is well worth the investment.

Trip to Central America in the Summer
torco replied to DundasSteelheader's topic in General Discussion
I have fished in Belize but with a guide, I did not bring my own gear. One thing to consider is whether your gear is suited for the salt water, also where in Belize do you plan to be? Might not be able to do much fly fishing without a guide/boat in which case they will have gear for you to use. Just some thoughts, I loved Belize and my brother spent a month in Cozumel last summer teaching and loved it as well. Sounds like a great trip.- 8 replies

I have the Ion bought it last fall...Unfortunately only had it out on one trip but it handled some hard fighting salmon up in Thunder Bay just fine. Its 8/10 and it suits my 7 w switch rod just fine. Am currently running a skagit head 500 grains. I really like swinging flies but don't get a lot of time unfortunately. Anyways I don't think you can beat the price on the Ion.

Welcome, great report. That is one of my favorite spots but I haven't been in a few years, glad to see it still looks nice and clean and the fishing is as I remember it. We have found fishing the small channel that connects the two lakes in the evening to be dynamite. Can easily hook and catch 20 fish in an evening and usually some big ones as well.

Go train to the Sportmens Show or fishing show?
torco replied to fishdawg's topic in General Discussion
Its easy from Burlington and should be a lot of fun. I am planning on taking my kids this year, I have an almost 3 yr old and 10 month old. Likely just me and the oldest going, wish I could take the train from Guelph. Might pop down to burlington just to ride the train since my daughter really loves trains right now. -
I agree you want people to be accountable and to know how much it costs but people make mistakes and do stupid things so how to decide when/who to pay? Its hard to wrap my head around it. I like the idea of community service or a fine vs. bill for actual cost.

I see pros and cons to both sides...Its nice to try and deter people from doing stupid things. Full disclaimer, I actually know Neil, he was first person to ever take me ice fishing when I was a kid. He was a very kind man and a good teacher. Obviously made a mistake that day.

Congrats on what is likely a world record fish. It takes a strong character to release a potential world record fish.

Just terrible but thankfully there was a security camera and this officer will be dealt with appropriately as part of the justice system. I don't want to jump over all cops because there are bad apples in every bunch.

Good luck...In the last 3 months I have moved to a DASH like diet. I wouldn't say its a full dash by an means but I have cut out alot of sodium and other crap and its helped me lose weight gradually. I got off track abit over the holidays but am back on now. I have found it to be fairly easy and the biggest change as be substituting carbs and red meats with more vegetables. I don't buy the cave man diet myself as on many levels it does not make sense to me but that said you should see results as it shares alot of the same premises with many healthy diets in that is big on fruits and vegetables and lean meats and cuts out the salt and sugars which are found in processed foods. I think what turns me off the caveman diet is how restrictive it is if followed correctly.

Lets not forget the gutting of the navigable waterways protection act as part of the omni. Omin-bills should be outlawed

Nice report Tyler, I really need to get up there one fall as opposed to the summer.

I have never called in sick to fish but I don't get sick days. That said I have used vacation days last minute to go fishing. Thankfully I have lots of vacation days comparatively. Probably not a good idea to post it publicly that you used a sick day to fish.....

Congrats, I look forward to reading it. Sorry to hear about your uncle.

can't speak to the well/septic part of the debate as I live in a city but definitely take your time and set a reasonable budget given your finances and stick to your plan. I know of some peoples experiences where agents often showed them homes just out of their price range in an effort to up sell.

Impressive, as mercman has already said what a talented group forsure.

Great report, looks like a great year!

Perhaps racist was the wrong wording. I suppose more to my point is trying to discuss, debate, and inform in a more reasonable/respectful tone. The tone of many of the posts was just a little unsettling to me is all. That is all I will say on that, and now I will listen to the discussion as it unfolds on the issue.

I certainly do not know a lot of the details but a lot of you guys are coming across racist in my view. Just my two cents.

My only comment is....More Gun Control This will put me a odds with many other members but that's how I feel.
