Anyone Hiring in Brampton Area? (Or Nearby?)
torco replied to rbaquial's topic in General Discussion
University of Guelph is hiring a manager of client productivity in our Computing and Communications Services department. It appears to be and IT job you can check our website under Human Resources. Looks like it pays approximately 80K. -
Great report. You are so fortunate to be close to Lake Superior Provincial Park for those specks and that monster pike wow, well I guess the whole report is wow.

Well I have learned some valuable stuff from this thread. My daughters room was 14 degrees the other night. We jacked up the heat abit and closed vents to other rooms to get her as much heat as we could, she is now around 17 degrees. She is 9 months old so its abit of concern. Our house is 1970 sidesplit, the garage is concrete shell as far as I can tell. I am not sure what in the way of insulation is between us and the garage. I am also going to check out the windows they were replaced in the late 90's for proper insulation. I may need to call someone in though based on what I have learned here, could be a big job. Goodluck GBW, you wouldn't expect that on a new home.

I have 70's side split and my daughters bedroom is over the garage and is cold. I have new doors on the garage but little to no insulation in the garage at all. I am looking to beef it up while I am on parental leave in January. Its amazing how much of difference it can make, I am surprised with the insulation that it is still cold, I would think insulating the garage door would have to help.

Thanks for the responses to my question on life jackets. Lots of good info being shared which great for all.

I ended up getting a decent inspection from the guy who was recommended by realtor. Now he was a little more expensive and I my realtor is a good honest guy and this was the guy he uses, 2 years in and no surprises. Now that said knowing these guys can be a crapshoot, I followed him around during his inspection, hammered away at him with questions as we went. I also did my own inspection with my father in-law who although is not a trades person has seen quite a bit over the years. Other things included was that form 220 mentioned above. Plus the home I bought only had a furnace a few years old. I had a friend who got a poor inspection and has water leakage problem in the basement. I believe he is now legalling going after the seller because they blatantly left out the water leakage issues. Anyways good luck, It seems these stories are becoming more frequent.

For people that don't have floater suits either because of cost or because they don't ice fish regularily enough to justify. Would wearing a life jacket over your winter coat be a good comprise? Sorry if its a silly question, I went ice fishing about 4-5 times last year but don't have a floater suit or jacket.

Pretty sure Copper has explained before that he uses caps locks because of an issue with his eye sight. Its not to be annoying.

Great to hear you are in good spirits. I look forward to reading more of your reports in the near future. Also congrats on the new job.

Glad to hear MJL is back out fishing. That brown is a real beauty.

My last chance to drop a deer this year with my shotgun

maybe belgian shepherds or just black german shepherds but 40-55lbs they would be undersized. Likely not a specific breed of dog. Where the hell are the dog owners, brutal. -
My cat likes the TV. All you need is a nature show or anything with birds. She sits there forever watching the TV. I actually think they sell a dvds for cats at the pet store. Cats vs dogs. The cat is definitely a low maintenance option. If we want to leave for the weekend, the cat survives fine in the house with some food, water and litter box. She also costs alot less than my German Shepherd, who needs special food, more expensive toys etc. But don't get me wrong I love her all the same, she is a wonderful dog, loves the family and keeps the house well guarded. Honestly if I had a bigger house, more time and a bit more money, I would get a 2nd shepherd.

I love cats myself. I have always had one. I know they say keep them indoors but I found them to be happier when outside. Of course it helps if you live on a very quiet side street. Cats need stimulation just like dogs or children. Get the cat some toys that she likes and a laser pointer and I bet you will find it is less annoying. As for cats and babies, we have 8 month old and the cat has not been an issue at all. We were worried at first because people say they try and get into the crib but our cat mostly avoids the baby and never tries to get in the crib. Only time I have found her in the crib is when our dog chases her and she hops in. We also have a 2 year old german shepherd. We worked our way up to children, cat year 1, dog year 2, baby year 3 and my wife is already talking about having another. No one wonder I have less and less time to fish.

Sounds like a nice set up. Orvis obviously makes a quality product and is a stout enough for the species your targeting. As a newbie myself, welcome to the dark side or should I say the money side. Definitely hasn't been cheap getting up and running fly fishing but its been fun.
-
At least its a start, gotta be better than my start or lack of. I was suppose to go Sunday but Friday I was running with the dog and tripped and landed on my shoulder, I wish I could blame the dog but it was all me. Looks like I buggered it up hoping a few days more rest will do it good. Couldn't cast let alone hold a rod for a couple hrs.

I definitely didn't always agree with him but he spoke his mind and cared about the fishery and anglers in this province and I appreciate that about him. Will miss watching his show from time to time.

If tarpon are available to catch and you can get a good guide its seems like the way to go. Nothing in Ontario compares to tarpon fishing.

It just shows how important versatility is.

Hi, I am not sure who all subscribes to this magazine but I can tell you I was just disappointed to read that I will no longer be receiving the magazine in a print version. It appears that it is being transitioned to an e-magazine. In the meantime until my subscription expires I can enjoy Outdoor Canada, while a good magazine its not exactly the best replacement. Anyways I guess the times are changing and people don't like to read paper anymore. Now I am not that old 28 actually but to me there is something about reading the newspaper, a good book or in this case a magazine in a paper form. I already spend 10hrs a day on a computer working and looking things up online to distract me from doing my work I'm not sure about the rest of you but I will miss finding a quiet spot and reading my fly fishing magazine. I just hope the rest of my subscriptions don't follow suit. That's my rant of the day...

Best of Luck. Look forward to reading some of your sweet trout reports when you get back on your feet.

Probably the best advice I can add is to try and stick to a few different streams when starting out. Once you get more familiar with the body of water success will come, I find usually my first time fishing a new body of water (unless I am with someone who knows it) is not a huge success. In terms of reading a river there are lots of books and websites to take you through the basics but really you need to actually experience it to get better.

Yeah my current ones are neoprene and they have held up well but my god do i sweat when its even remotely warmer than 10 degrees outside. I was thinking of getting a breathable pair. I was thinking layering would take care of the warmth needed for everything but the cold winter days. Yes I have found in my experience that the attached boot leak more frequently along the seam plus you are stuck with the factory boot which means you potentially sacrifice comfort. Copper - great tip on putting socks over the stocking feet to help with wear...never thought of that.

I can't see a coaching change making much of a difference. Burke made some mistakes trying to rebuild this team and I'm sure he knows it. He'll need to hatch a new plan sooner than later but giving up 2 first rounders and a 2nd for kessel has to hurt. Anyways not much Wilson can do. The leafs lack a real #1 and #2 centre although maybe grabovski can be a #2 And if you look at the wingers they lack size and skill. By that I mean they have guys with size on the 3rd and 4th line like brown, and orr. But in terms of guys with skill and size, maybe kulemin? Anyways poorly constructed team that not even Scotty Bowman could make better if he was behind the bench.
