But the border traffic is terrible with several hours of waiting unless you leave very very early. I found that waiting in line burns a lot of gas. Oops... there goes my savings .

Don't recall one in November. There is usually one on Boxing Day.

Make sure the kids have good shoes for the trek down and back up. No sandals. Have a safe trip.

At 2:27pm on Sympatico we don't have any problems. Didn't notice any problems earlier either.

So True. Was going to print it out for the wife but ... don't want to sleep on the couch tonight.

The baitcaster on special today at LB for $125.00. Was there this afternoon and got the Daiwa Advantage spinning reel for $135.00.

I'd tell them that the fish is full of toxins and they will get cancer.

Lightened up this dull day for sure.

Interesting. I was just about to head out to BPS to look at the 76CSX. I'm still going.

As with fatherof3, I too avoided this topic as it brings out the worst in some of us. But... Z71 plus caffeine this morning just made my blood boil. The issue is not immigration, nor the need to send people back to asia, nor lack of background check. The issue is that if people are fishing in a sanctuary then they are poaching. It doesn't matter if they are asian, white, black or where they came from this decade or a century ago - they are poaching. So lets be constructive and address the real issue of poaching in this case. Poaching here in this case is no different than what we see in Credit, Bronte, etc at this time of the year. There was another thread yesterday where innocent people, all fishing legally were harassed, punched, etc. near Coboconk. As you can see generalization of a issue can lead one to say that's OK too. In either case it is not OK to beat people up. That is assault and against the law. What Z71 is suggesting is that you can break the law by beating people up and possibly injuring them and is justified because they are asian and poaching. That is what riled me up. I've had my say and it's time to go to BPS for some shopping. Please be constructive in your comments. Be part of the solution not the problem.

When laws are being broken then you need to step up enforcement otherwise you end up with the chaos we are beginning to hear about. Education and understanding are just as important if not more.
-
Your action would then be no different than what people here are saying that is so wrong. You break the law then let the authorities deal with it. Would your action be any different from me running you off the highway because you are speeding and breaking the law?

Sounds a lot like my wife and her shoe purchases... many many pairs of shoes. Oh and let us know if it works as advertised.

First sign of snow or ice and I hibernate. Cold hands and feet are not for me.

I first need some lights and method of propulsion before I go out there with my canoe. I got the battery charger on my cross-border shopping trip but no trolling motor and battery yet. The current out of your normal trib is ferocious and scary near the point we were fishing. Further out should be OK. And of course you get Cleos zinging over your head out there. It's frightening to think that a big salmon can drag you out into the big lake to Rochester if you motor goes silent.

I have a Pentax Optio 50 with 5 mega pixels and I don't like it. It's a battery eater and very poor in low light conditions. My old Canon 2 mp A40 is still better than this newer Pentax. I would buy a low price Canon again. I also have a Nikon D40 for $1k plus that is bigger and too pricey for playing around the water and Carp slime.

Nice going. You might have gotten one earlier if you hadn't given me your spot on Friday night were I lost two. Thanks for being so gracious. MJL did end up landing one old boot in the trib later that night. The fight is so different in shallow water isn't it.

I'd say this is inappropriate and an apology should be posted. Let's have respect for each other and not damage the integrity of this wonderful board that is enjoyed by so many.

My first noodle rod was a Shakesphere 10.6 Intrepid for $49.99. I still use this trusty old rod that has landed many salmon, carp and steelhead over the years. Earlier this week I was using it to zing out cleos. Whatever rod you use you need to adapt to how it behaves, to its strengths and weaknesses and the conditions you're in. With my 10.6 it does take me longer to land a big fish compared to my 13 footer which has more backbone. I just have to be more patient and not horse the fish in and that is what I mean by adapting to your rod as an example. And a shorter rod has the advantage when walking through dense brush/shrubs/trees along the rivers. There must be many guys out there who have snapped off the tip in the bushes and car doors rather than on the water. Don't second guess the decision you've already made. Just go out and enjoy the fishing.

Man that sounds so poetic. Hope you both find that inner peace, enjoy the journey of rejuvenation and happiness. Just don't go too far to the point of finding the meaning of life. Takes too long. Enjoy.
-
Nice going. You are certainly hooked now. All that practice with Carp is paying off now. I took a walk out that way on Saturday night for some fresh air but didn't fish.
-
Nah. They are trying to see how many pier fishermen are out there. LOL.
-
Oh Yeah, for sure. The sudden burst of speed and power from salmon is absolutely incredible. You do need a good drag on your reel to manage the sudden pulls towards Niagara. Good work .

Where's our new friend KellyAnn? Waiting for DouG to personally kya is just killing us.

They will just get more donations from the bleeding hearts to bail them out. I guess that their own ship doesn't use fuel that emit gasses and pollutants into the air.
